The royal family

Harry and Meghan - "It Has Come To This"

TheMustressMhor · 21/01/2020 10:30

These are the words of Prince Harry. He sounded defeated. He has lost his military patronages. He is no longer living anywhere near his brother or father. He is moving to Canada.

Meanwhile, Meghan has been photographed in the park, with Archie and the dogs, beaming. It seems that she alerted the paparazzi herself. Meghan has truly got what Meghan wants.

I wonder what they said to one another when he got back?

Probably trying to find someone with a mansion going spare in Malibu as we speak!

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 15:39

Yes I think Katy123 is right. The Palace are playing the long game.

7Worfs · 22/01/2020 15:41

Sweet videos of Kate with babies. She said she felt isolated when Prince George was little and they lived in Anglesey.
I wonder if she found support and friends on MN (not being sarcastic).

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 15:41

I'm not sure about England, but in Ireland particularly, children with epilepsy and Downs Syndrome or other conditions were things to be ashamed of. There is much in Irish history to be ashamed of. There are stories of 'the child at the window' and such from 100 years ago. The children were locked away. Then came institutions and the children were put in there. How horrific must their lives have been! I'm sad to see that the royal family were just as horrid. I wonder whether that's why they appear to be breeding out of the gene pool these days - some inherent fear of congenital disorders being passed down?

Alsohuman · 22/01/2020 15:43

Good Catholic families they were

No Catholics in the RF. there’s an act of Parliament expressly forbidding it. No reliable contraception is more like it.

PerfPower · 22/01/2020 15:46

I've been lurking on this thread and haven't read the others, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating stuff. I had a look at the twitter link (Richard Palmer) and there's a sideways image of yesterday's dog walk - it's fairly close up and Meghan appears to be holding the baby to her torso by using her forearm against the back of his neck and the other hand is busy with dog leads. I know there are rumours that it's a doll* and I really hope that's true now - I have never seen anyone hold a baby or child this way.

*I believe Archie exists btw, just hoping that he wasn't what was being carried in those photos.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 15:48

Perfpower - I too was thinking, she's going to decapitate the poor child the way she's holding the back of his neck!

7Worfs · 22/01/2020 15:49

I saw a profile shot of the dog walk, it very much looked like Archie.
My baby is similar age and nearly 10kg, they are too big for carriers at that age imo.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 15:49

I've never seen anyone hold a child like she's holding him in those pictures.

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 15:51

The Queen had some cousins (on the maternal side) who were locked away in an institution and never spoken about.

The Queen Mother (who died in 2002) had a good many secrets in her life.

I was thinking 'his poor little spine'. I actually hope it was a bloody doll.
Slings are too hard on the carrier's back for big bruisers of babies. Archie seems like a big fellow from what pictures we've seen.

queenofarles · 22/01/2020 15:52

Kate was resilient enough to take crappy derogatory press for about 10 years. From the beginning Kate got really good support system in the shape of mum and rest of her family, which Meghan probably didn’t get.
On the other thread someone mentioned the press calling Kate horrible names like Bitch or something just to get a reaction from her, that was pre engagement days. Kate did get a hard time for years.

Also think It’s a bit to do with US culture vs UK. As poster mominatrix pointed a few threads back.
MM was so eager to prove to everyone from the very beginning that they’ve been doing things wrong and it was her American enthusiasm what the RF and British in general need. Which really is the fastest way to be disliked.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 15:53

Thanks TheMustressMhor. I'm just going to watch the docu on Prince John and then I'll check out the links.

SerenDippitty · 22/01/2020 15:57

Nothing different or racist about it at all. She expected to be treated like a star. She wasn't pleased to discover that her choice of hosiery could make headline news. She just wasn't prepared for it at all.

Yes she was expecting instant adulation.

Parker231 · 22/01/2020 15:59

@7Worfs - he’s definitely not too big for a sling carrier. It’s not uncommon to use them up to age 2. Can’t see what is wrong? It’s an easy way to carry them around and many babies prefer them to a pram or buggy.

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 16:01

I agree with you Parker231.

Many parents do prefer slings. I have always found though that my back hurt very badly if I carried my babies in them once they were over about six months.

But clearly some parents don't have that problem.

Little Arch looks normal sized for his age, just a bit long legged which isn't surprising given his genes on both sides.

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 16:04

I wonder if he's sleeping through the night yet? Grin

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 16:06

I think if they're on your back it's easier. If they're on your front, it's putting a tremendous strain on your spine. Physics innit. Centre of gravity, fulcrum, all that jazz. I sat through too many H&S videos about heaving lifting etc. Although, if she had him on her back, there would be comments too. But the way she's carrying him looks uncomfortable for both her and him unless she has serious core strength - which she probably wouldn't have so soon after a birth.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 16:07

*heavy lifting not heaving lifting

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 16:07

PerfPowerr

There was a poster (on the second thread, I think) who seemed to be convinced that Archie didn't exist and that MM had never been pregnant.

Nobody in their right minds could possibly countenance this.

Apparently PH may be too uneducated to be allowed to live in Canada. Grin

The80sweregreat · 22/01/2020 16:10

Of course Archie exists but there was speculation that it wasn't him in the sling , mostly on Twitter. People clearly will still find fault or conspiracy theories about these two and i don't think it will abate until they decide to lie low for a while , which is what I thought this change of life was meant to be.
Jury is still out about what this move is really about though. Getting one up on Kate will feature a bit.
The funding of security is one that won't die down ; I bet the UK end up paying for it by whatever means. That is something I don't agree with at all but neither should the Canadians be paying. We will be told it's only 79 p per taxpayer I guess ; they like smoke and mirrors about money to keep us in line!

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 16:10

Unless she has serious core strength - which she probably wouldn't have so soon after a birth.

Archie is eight months old now.

Meghan has access to the best practitioners, who will have advised her accordingly.

Harry went to some very decent fee paying schools ; goes to show you can't buy brains. Just lots of help towards passing exams! ( how I could have done with that in my youth)
