Harry and Meghan - "It Has Come To This"

These are the words of Prince Harry. He sounded defeated. He has lost his military patronages. He is no longer living anywhere near his brother or father. He is moving to Canada.

Meanwhile, Meghan has been photographed in the park, with Archie and the dogs, beaming. It seems that she alerted the paparazzi herself. Meghan has truly got what Meghan wants.

I wonder what they said to one another when he got back?

Good Catholic families they were wink
Are you quite sure about that?😳

It's what we say in Ireland if someone comes from a large family - indicates they don't use contraception. More my parent's generation that would use it though!

The wink is obviously because they weren't Catholic at all.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 15:06

@SingingLily and I hope I don't have to spend 50 posts explaining the joke.

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 15:07

Bit offensive, MaisWeeee

I speak as a Catholic.

IBelieveinLangCleg · 22/01/2020 15:08

I have been reading but, having taken no notice of anything to do with the Royal Family for the last 20 years, had nothing to contribute. However, toddler tantrums makes me think of one of my favourite funny threads which is now in Classics If my 3 year old had access to AIBU Anyone who is not okay may find it brings some giggles to their day.

I have spent ages in the last few days looking up the royal family tree, working out who is related to whom and how; looking at photos of various dresses, houses and rings.

I'm a fairly staunch republican but I was surprised to see the newspaper headlines about H&M (who I previously thought was a clothing store!) wanting out of Royal duties but wanting to retain all the perks and benefits so I have been reading these threads and have learned so much. Thank you all.

I did ask my manager at work if I could keep the company car, the pension, fully salary, expenses account, private health insurance and for the company to continue to top up my pension each month but I was going to go and work for someone else. Just wanted to see if it work for me as H&M clearly thought it would work for them. She said no. Quite emphatically actually. She even used some bad language Shock. At least I didn't publish my intentions on Instagram first I suppose.

So I'm not surprised that HMQ said no as well.

I am okay though. Despite still having to work for my salary and all of your meals sounding far nicer than mine. I am surviving when I could have been thriving. I hope everyone else is okay too Flowers.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 15:08

Oh for Christ sake. It's a fucking joke.

SingingLily · 22/01/2020 15:09

and I hope I don't have to spend 50 posts explaining the joke.

And now I am doubly offended.

Please don't @ me, by the way. I'm already on the thread. Thank you.

And a joke is only funny if people are laughing. I'm not laughing.

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 15:10

No. You're not laughing. I am however!

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 15:10

I'm an Irish Catholic and personally didn't find it offensive, although I understand that others may differ.

Maiswee look up about Prince John - his story is really heartbreaking

MrsDoubtTried · 22/01/2020 15:11

Mais, I like the way you use “fella” for Royalty.Grin

MrsDoubtTried · 22/01/2020 15:12

Prince John’s story - or a version of it - was done by Stephen Poliakoff. Loved it.

Cuttingthegrass · 22/01/2020 15:14

IBelieve..... so your boss wouldn’t collaborate with you either ?

MrsDoubtTried · 22/01/2020 15:14

Surely the @etc is to alert someone you want to agree with or whatever, specifically? It’s not meant to be rude. Confused

GuytheBeagle · 22/01/2020 15:14

Apparently it's not a crown, but a coronet, on their branding.

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 15:15

Yes, I loved it too. His nurse Lalla really became his Mum. He lived at Woodfarm where the Duke of Edinburgh lives now? I think he had autism and epilepsy and the family would not tolerate his behaviours so he was sent to Woodfarm.

MrsDoubtTried · 22/01/2020 15:16

about H&M (who I previously thought was a clothing store!)

Smile
7Worfs · 22/01/2020 15:16

so your boss wouldn’t collaborate with you either?

Chortle.

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 15:16

I'm off to Google coronet!

MrsDoubtTried · 22/01/2020 15:17

A small lesser crown? Fits.

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 15:18

A coronet doesn't have arches

MaisWeee · 22/01/2020 15:18

Sounds fascinating about Prince John. Any link to his story or will it be on Wiki?

IBelieveinLangCleg · 22/01/2020 15:20

Grin Cuttingthegrass No, she did not! I genuinely don't know what I did wrong. Surely my boss and the rest of the firm would want me to thrive?

Tinselette1940 · 22/01/2020 15:21

I'll find something Maiswee

TheMustressMhor · 22/01/2020 15:21

MaisWeee

If you Google King George V & Queen Mary + children you will see that they had five sons and one daughter.

One of the sons was Prince John, who died in status epilepticus. There is a wealth of information available if you're interested.

Though what Prince John has to do with Harry and Meghan is a mystery to me.

The sticky uppy bits represent strawberry leaves apparently. Numbers vary according to rank.

Good job they weren't 17thc. Barons or it might have looked like this:

Ah, but are you an internationally protected person of importance? 🤔
