*Anyone who reads it and the ones before it, can see that it's mainly sensible discussion with the occasional lurid surmise thrown in^

I presume you are being tongue in cheek. Many posts are so full of vitriol and bitterness, they are beyond replying to - there is no point arguing with stupid. But if for a millisecond you actually believe the crap you wrote, there is simply no point responding to it.

Notthissh1tagain · 20/01/2020 09:36

joyful and what a vile person you are.

He is still her son and she is a 93 year old women.

Meghan has been quiet for a couple of days, I wonder what she's thinking of the deal
She's probably been told by Harry to lie low because of the public backlash. I think she is probably upset that they can't use the HRH but she'll get over it. She'll lose it when if they divorce anyway.

How convenient. Grin

BirdandSparrow · 20/01/2020 09:40

However leaving baby to put on a PR display while knowing the giant shitstorm he’s dealing with at home doesn’t look remotely supportive. But that's my point. You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. You have no idea if that's what they'd agreed to do and PH is driving this and MM is being supportive.
You have no clue what their marriage is like. You can speculate and that speculation will be coloured by your own experiences and upbringing and, massively, by a biased media...but you don't know any more than me.

Is she a terrible fame-hungry harpy? I don't know. Maybe. But maybe she's a loving supportive partner and he's absolutly fine with hwat she's doing. We don't know.

@notmoresheep

Perhaps I should change my handle to indicate more light heartedness? Unfortunately I think I am nearly at the 30 character limit, so I don't think MeganMountabattenJoyfulLittleSausage is going to get approved somehow.

I was fallen121 and then DH and I were discussing Meghan whilst making dinner (sausages) and he wanted to say "will she be known as Meghan Mounbatten-Windsor now?" and it came out as "Meghan Mountbatten-Sausage". And it stuck.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/01/2020 09:48

I’m genuinely trying to figure out when the press started to turn against Meghan.
I think it was towards the beginning of last year / end of the year before when they said they weren’t going to be moving in next door to William and Kate, with zero explanation. Can’t remember when the affair rumours started. Not long afterwards; by way of “ explanation” for the rift.
There had been criticism for Meghan’s clothes ( esp the £56k engagement dress) but all the Royal women have been through that.
I’m not excusing the misogyny at all, but I don’t feel like Meghan was singled out.
The Queen especially went over and above to include her.
Xmas at Sandringham before she was married, an engagement on the a Royal train with the Queen. Kate got none of that.

notmoresheep · 20/01/2020 09:50

BirdandSparrow “if that’s what they agreed to do” why would they agree to do something that they both know would garner so much negative publicity? they’re not young or new to this.

BirdandSparrow · 20/01/2020 09:50

Wasn't the whole "Harry's girl is straight outta compton" racist bullshit before they even got married? It's what the press do. Also, see the article I posted earlier.

BirdandSparrow · 20/01/2020 09:51

sheep I don't know. What I'm saying is, you (in general, not you personally) have no idea if she's being unsupportive or not.

notmoresheep · 20/01/2020 09:54

fallen - I wondered where you’d gone. Love the new handle, agree to avoiding the joyful bit (I’ve never met anyone called Joy who was remotely joyful 🤷‍♀️).

ReprehensibleRita · 20/01/2020 09:55

We don't need to defend this thread.
True, but by the same token anyone who finds it distasteful, at times offensive and largely based on assumptions can also say their piece on here. It's how MN works.

SpanishLady · 20/01/2020 09:57

Oh lord in high this again.

It is a thread about H&M not prince bloody Andrew -

Not mentioning PA doesn't mean he is more liked than Meghan - it's not an either or situation!!

If it helps let me state I like Meghan more than PA

The poster monitoring the thread and reporting posts in between housework - wtf?

WendyMoiraAngelaDarling · 20/01/2020 09:58

Of course. I can't seem to see where I said otherwise. I just recommended ignoring.

I really need to take my own advice now Smile

Regarding Serena, she doesn't like distractions from the tennis and I think the whole Meghan circus that was brought to her games was irritating to her. She also loves the UK and Wimbledon is her favourite tournament, she isn't about to start slagging us off! I also believe that whilst they are/were pals the depth of their friendship was a bit exaggerated.

This is an interesting article about the dynamics of the Charles- William- Harry relationship.

The voiceover said, "the departure of one of the most popular members of the Royal Family . . . (definite pause) and his wife

The beeb is Establishment and will try to set the tone.

notmoresheep · 20/01/2020 10:03

true Bird none of us know. Their world is all about appearances, and their PR is clearly highly important to them and their future plans (the website, branding, trademarking etc). So this appears very odd and tone deaf in contrast. But that could just be me.

What is the Compton thing?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 20/01/2020 10:04

I’m genuinely trying to figure out when the press started to turn against Meghan.

Pretty sure it was Tiaragate. "What Meghan wants, Meghan gets."

We'd been hearing stuff about her firing off 5am emails but I put that down to her wanting to get things right and my sympathies were entirely with her. Then we started to hear a few more bridezilla stories, the Queen having to have a quiet word about her manner with staff over an eggless cake (!), the issue with Kate in tears over Charlotte's bridesmaid fitting, a picture started to emerge, the public responded to it and from then on the gloves were off.

Apart from the appalling Compton comment, I think the press were pretty kind until they started getting leaks about her conduct behind closed doors.

These threads are horrible. I'm not surprised Meghan doesn't want to be in UK full time. At least the Queen is supportive of her, eh?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 20/01/2020 10:06

As I said upthread, the Meghan worshippers are a demented bunch.
