Yes she looked incredibly slim too. I doubt she just has really fat fingers! Where do the pregnancy rumours come from? Wonder if they have been leaked by someone wanting to emphasise that Rose and her husband are happily married so there was no affair? I would think though that a wife's affair with PW would not be the end of an upper crust marriage. Middle aged rich bloke marries 20 something ex model, she pops out a few heirs, I'd think he'd look the other way!

Rose and her sister both married considerably older men

And both bagged a title. Smile

Nice background article here

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-48525730 about how protocol is paramount, and how to make small talk to appalling people

They really are taking one for the team, aren't they?

lyralalala · 06/06/2019 01:01

The thing as well with this one is that they all had to be so guarded.

If you slipped up and said something negative about the french at the Spanish state visit or vice-versa each would probably have the manners to know these conversations are private and should stay that way.

If you told Donald Trump the weather was miserable he’d likely tweet at some point how you hated Britain because of the weather and had hinted about moving to the US and how he would get his people to help.

RoseAndRose · 08/06/2019 12:26

The Queen looks excessively solitary in the carriage all by herself (return from Trooping the Colour)

I know this is all governed by protocol, but why isn't Prince Charles with her? (Then her Duke and his Duchess could keep each other company on that window)

lyralalala · 08/06/2019 12:48

Prince Charles is on horseback I think

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/06/2019 13:32

It is very sad to see the Queen on her own. I suppose because of her specific ceremonial role she has to be separate from the other royals but it's such a shame Prince Philip couldn't attend this one major event. It makes me think he must be quite poorly. Or maybe he just thinks he's earned the right to say enough is enough.

I imagine the queen feels that if she can’t ride with Phillip she would rather ride alone.

It ties in with what we know about her approach to duty etc..

I’d also imagine that if she wanted to be accompanied she would be.

lyralalala · 08/06/2019 15:31

I think it’s one of those things with it being such a formal occasion that she needs to be accompanied by Philip, Charles or no one as otherwise the person accompanying her is out of order in the procession.

Although given that the Duke of Kent travelled in the carriage procession with Beatrice and Eugenie he could have perhaps done it without her promoting Sophie over Camilla or Camilla over Kate etc. He’s accompanied her to things before.

I know the Duke of Ed rarely appears, but the two times I do expect him to pop up are the the official Birthday celebrations and at least on the balcony for The Cenotaph.

We're so very used to seeing them as a double act, that just sometimes it looks very wrong when he's not there
