A Royal Wedding. Exciting.

OP posts:
FellatioNelson · 16/11/2010 16:52

Shock I was going to ask earlier if we thought she'd get an inherited ring, but I thought 'surely not that one?' Shock

I'd be pissed off if I were her. I bet she has only got it as a formal gesture. I bet privately she wears a different one.

nickelpombear · 16/11/2010 16:59

Bless Fellatio putting forward DH for the organ!
I think Baroque was hinting at herself, though,as she is also a splendid organist (although, she'll be fucked if they want Widor's Toccata, cos she can't reach the pedals Grin )

I'll vote for DH, though!

(our other organist played our exit, which was La Rejouissance from Handel's Music for the Royal Fireworks, so if they want that, I'll vote for him to play it!)

nickelpombear · 16/11/2010 17:02

I didn't like the ring either - I would have thought he'd be better to choose a new ring for her.
:(

FellatioNelson · 16/11/2010 17:03

Well I looked on her profile and I couldn't see any reference to organs! Could you share it? I'll have a word with Charlie for you. I am the wedding planner you know. Already working on my Royal canape selection and wondering what their special 'turn' should be. Sandy and Danny from Grease perhaps?

FellatioNelson · 16/11/2010 17:04

Shock It's true! He's given her the hideous sapphire! Cheapskate.

Nancy66 · 16/11/2010 17:05

god she's ever so thin isn't she? (Kate)

AbsofCroissant · 16/11/2010 17:05

Apparently he gave her the ring as "it was [his] way of making sure [his] mother didn't miss out on today".

Personally I think it's very sweet.

nickelpombear · 16/11/2010 17:06

one item each?

Grin
nickelpombear · 16/11/2010 17:07

(x-posts - that was to Fellatio)

Bue · 16/11/2010 17:08

Nancy66, it's Catherine now, apparently.

She is aging SO much better than he is. I am super jealous of her hair.

FellatioNelson · 16/11/2010 17:09

I'm currently working on <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=junsuikeiken.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/youngestbrides.jpg&imgrefurl=junsuikeiken.wordpress.com/&h=250&w=450&sz=39&tbnid=3TDq49CSEaH34M:&tbnh=71&tbnw=127&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dawful%2Bwedding%2Bdresses&zoom=1&q=awful+wedding+dresses&usg=__4vpbgOfTIDd-GXS8Vec9eSdtBmw=&sa=X&ei=37niTPCBOJO6hAfvtMGgDQ&ved=0CCsQ9QEwBQ" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this for her. What do you think? Bridesmaids hats are speshal aren't they? I'm proud of those.

AbsofCroissant · 16/11/2010 17:10

Tell me about it. She has the most awesome hair. I'm very Envy

Blu · 16/11/2010 17:11

"Dubbed "Waity Katie" for her patience as she waited for her Prince to pop the question, after a long courtship, Kate is to finally become a bride, a royal wife and one day Queen."

What dreadful sexist claptrap!

TheSquodgit · 16/11/2010 17:12

It has to be at St Pauls.

I'm sure William holds nothing but awful memories of Westminster Abbey.

I

TheSquodgit · 16/11/2010 17:12

Rogue 'I' there lol.

Caoimhe · 16/11/2010 17:16

Imagine giving her that ugly ring with its horrible history - how bizarre!!!

gregssausageroll · 16/11/2010 17:48

I am a bit shocked at the ring but also understand it too. Yes, the marriage didn't work out but its is his mum's engagement ring and I liked when he said it was so she was part of the day he decided to spent the rest of his life with Kate.

I sincerely hope that lessons have been learnt over Diana and she never has to go through anything like that. She is bloody thin though.

AbsofCroissant · 16/11/2010 17:50

I liked her dress

[should be working rather than refreshing BBC website]

Hulababy · 16/11/2010 18:05

I can understand why he gave her his mum's ring. To him the history is different to it - it a precious item that belonged to a much loved parent. I would imagine that the two of them dscussed it also.

My wedding ring was made from DH;s grandma's gold ring - it is eve more precious to us because it belonged to a late, much loved clos relative.

MollieO · 16/11/2010 18:06

Expat you do know you can hide threads from your active view don't you. You are of course entitled to your views but please realise that many others do not share your views. I'm no a royalist but I doubt I would be so vocal as you are bring if I was on a US forum commenting about one of the President's dds getting married. I doubt that your or my tax money will pay for the wedding but I'm happy to wait to comment until I know the facts.

understandingone · 16/11/2010 18:16

I think having his mother's engagement ring is awful. Her marriage was not happy, she divorced his father ( who bought the ring) so surely the ring is only a reminder of an unhappy time, not something to celebrate?

I would be very upset if I were Kate and had to wear it- I'd want my own!

expatinscotland · 16/11/2010 18:33

'I'm no a royalist but I doubt I would be so vocal as you are bring if I was on a US forum commenting about one of the President's dds getting married.'

Why not? Plenty of people there had major issues with how Chelsea handled her wedding at a time when so many were losing their jobs and homes.

I am a British national as well.

Yes, I know I can hide threads.

So?

Plenty of people do share my views. In fact, one of the proposed titles for the all-in-one thread, from someone's whose nationality I don't know and really, what's the difference?, is 'The French had the right idea.'

expatinscotland · 16/11/2010 18:37

Ooo, another wants a 'Line 'em up against a wall' topic. Now she is British, but I happen to know she is part-Asian. Why not go there and have a go at her for that part of her nationality then, Mollie? Or do you just reserve it for certain ones?

Hulababy · 16/11/2010 19:04

"the ring is only a reminder of an unhappy time"

I disagree. After all this time I suspect the ring simply reminds him of his mother, not of a failed marriage.

Kate is obviously happy about it.

MollieO · 16/11/2010 19:05

Expat I got you confused with another poster who is American. Apologies. Blush
