A Royal Wedding. Exciting.

OP posts:

Running, sigh.

CoteDAzur · 16/11/2010 11:48

This will, er, dethrone Prince Albert's marriage to Charlene next summer.

Ghoulysses · 16/11/2010 11:48

It's not really like Charles and Di's wedding though is?

Williams only second in line to the throne, and Lizzie's still on the go. Might be another 30 years before she is actually made Queen.

Can't say I'm that excited about it.

Rannaldini · 16/11/2010 11:49

seriously who pays for this though?

all of this will cost an absolute fortune that i'd rather we spend on just about anything else

Nancy66 · 16/11/2010 11:49

..whatever it costs if will make back ten fold

BendyBob · 16/11/2010 11:51

Maybe Hello will pay for itGrin

MumInBeds · 16/11/2010 11:52

It'll bring money into the country, there are so many overseas who love our royal family. We're more likely to gain from this that the olympics, that's for sure!

DreamTeamGirl · 16/11/2010 11:52

Aww thats nice news
we needed some that was

Tidey · 16/11/2010 11:52

Being married to the King doesn't make you the Queen anyway, does it? Prince Philip isn't the King Confused

Lotkinsgonecurly · 16/11/2010 11:54

Still think registery office then the local village hall is the way to go. Low cost, keeping with the frugal times we're in.

CaurnieBred · 16/11/2010 11:54

I am (sadly) really excited about this. It better not be any time when I have holiday booked for next year as I want to go and stand in the street and I want to take DD. The only Royal "events" (apart from the jubilee) that have happened since I have lived in London have been funerals which I didn't go to see: I want to see something happy (like jubilee).

FellatioNelson · 16/11/2010 11:56

I think if you may someone who is, or will become Queen, you don't become King, because King trumps Queen, and you have only 'married in' as it were, but if you marry the man who will be king then yes, you do become Queen. ALthough not sure that will happen in Camilla's case, but these days they are having to make it up as they go along I think!

FellatioNelson · 16/11/2010 11:56

marry, not may. Sorry

BoobyMcLeaky · 16/11/2010 11:57

Tidey Kings outrank Queens so that is why he isn't King (as that would make him ruler and he wasn't in line for the throne). I think Confused.

I think it's lovely Smile

Nancy66 · 16/11/2010 11:57

Wonder what the Palace have done with Kate's drug dealing uncle?

BoobyMcLeaky · 16/11/2010 11:58

oops, x-post

Saltire · 16/11/2010 11:58

"They will liv ein Wales where he is based with the RAF"

Ok now that I have finally picked myself up off the floor, where I fell laughing, they won't have a crap quarter with draughty windows and stained carpets and a cooker that only cooks on high and heating that doesn't work

motherinferior · 16/11/2010 11:59

It'll be more than 30 years. Given that the royals are all bred to last - combination of survival of the thickest best at getting through assassination attempts, war and general Stalwartliness, plus world-class health care, Liz'll probably make it to over 100 like her mother did. That's another 20 years or so. Then Chazzer - finally stopping humming 'I just can't wait to be King' - steps into her jewelled shoes, and gives it ooh 20 to 30 more years. So we're talking 50 or so, really.

motherinferior · 16/11/2010 12:00

So it's a good thing she's good at Waiting.

FellatioNelson · 16/11/2010 12:00

I believe castles are quite draughty...

Tidey · 16/11/2010 12:00

But am I right in thinking she wouldn't actually be Queen in the sense of 'ruling'? I thought there had only been joint rulership once... erm William and Mary was it?

Nancy66 · 16/11/2010 12:01

I've always thought Charles would forfeit the throne....

motherinferior · 16/11/2010 12:01

If my kids are given a day off school I shall puke.

Hassled · 16/11/2010 12:01

I'm pathetically pleased by this news. I like William - such a nice young man. And Kate's sort of earned it at this stage, I feel.

I remember Diana's wedding - I watched it at my friend's house and I wore blue clogs with a white broderie anglaise skirt. Those were the days Hmm.

Doigthebountyeater · 16/11/2010 12:01

I don't like her. She has a hard face and I just can't imagine her being a kind and sincere person so Biscuit to the news. I like the Queen we have and I like Princess Anne but the rest are feckless hooray henrys that I resent my taxes paying for (actually, I don't pay any taxes as I am a SAHM but I thought the sentiment went well with my rant...)
