The adventures of Newerboy

I've got a Siamese cat. He was abandoned by his owner and is living in state - three nests made by neighbours - in our garden. He is absolutely beautiful, aged 11, and a white/cream colour, brown eyes I think. So far we have blinked at each other, me flat on face behind bush in garden.

The lady who feeds him is going away for 6 weeks. She is in a royal state of anxiety so I stepped in. Have been trained to do the feeding, leg massage, etc.

His history is shameful. He has been coming to us for food for ages, finally taken to Battersea, where his so-called owner collected him in 90 minutes. Then left him to starve. So you see I can't not.

Any words of wisdom? I need them.

I've arrived home to no warm greeting. Someone was happily languishing on the new sheepskin pad looking very contented and refusing to move. Created a monster Grin

A very tender monster, with soft fur and kind eyes :)

I'm amazed. Every time I'm home late he comes running to the door shouting indignantly. He barely opened his eyes and just carried on drooling on his blanket

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/12/2017 23:52

Oh dear. Ollie needs to buck up fast and realise his end of the bargain or you will be getting a new kitty Paws ...or Balls who does ...

Lanaorana2 · 19/12/2017 11:51

A resounding success.

I've just bought property in London and it was as expensive as they tell you it is. NB's new luxury pet home being couriered now.

I'm having it delivered to the office in case Mr C sees it.

How is tiny Newboy?

Ollie is trying some wellness core signature select food. The noise Shock
He's managing to slurp and purr at the same time. Michelin star apparently

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/12/2017 13:14

You bought a luxury faux ski lodge one didn't you?.

cozietoesie · 19/12/2017 13:37

It sounds as if there was nothing 'faux' about it! Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/12/2017 13:51

There's a house on our estate with a wooden hutch with a felted roof for the cat, presumably no cat flap.

The cat sits on it, not in it. I bet the owner thought they were doing a good job of providing a cosy shelter until they came home to roof top protest every night.

cozietoesie · 19/12/2017 14:25

There's something about Siamese - you find yourself constantly (and usually vainly) trying to .....impress them. Smile

cozietoesie · 19/12/2017 14:30

Newboy is having a quiet day. (Although he's started to use his second tray.)

The Xmas tree is still intact.

Lanaorana2 · 19/12/2017 14:31

I considered the wooden hutch but went for a more Frank Lloyd Wright villa effect. It's self-assembly, a world of pain in a single word. Am warming old jerseys on radiator prior to stuffing the house with them, in manner similar to my own dear home.

Rooftop protest :) better than H Block-type protest, I suppose. Bobby Sandbox has a lot to answer for.

No sign NB. The hoover has broken, traditional at Xmas, so I am waiting peaceably for the telly to blow up. Demolition Men opp are making the flat shake but Mr C slumbers through it now.

My whole life is failing to impress the cat. Grin

Am feeling flat, as it happens, because I am 50 on Saturday and it's come at me worse than a sudden paw swipe that knocks your glasses off.

cozietoesie · 19/12/2017 14:43

Mr C is sure to do an extra-impressive poo to mark the occasion! I hope you have Gin. Grin

cozietoesie · 19/12/2017 14:46

I have just bought a mouse with added squeak. I only hope it is brown - he likes toy mice to be brown - and it's one of those 'you takes what you get' deals.

Lanaorana2 · 19/12/2017 14:55

Thank you. He's spent all morning washing his derriere after a magisterial display in the camellia pot, complete with me standing at his side, pointedly not looking, like Henry VIII's Groom of the Stool.

OOo, added squeak. I could use some of that in middle age :)

I smelled what seemed like the faintest whiff of gas in the kitchen (the Siberian Waste) the other night. Now I do have a gas hob, fitted by one of my brothers who could well have bodged the job, but on the other hand...............Grin

(I remember two gas engineers slaving away at a previous house after I thought I had a leak. They found one - and were most complimentary about my olfactory abilities, it being so tiny that they were amazed anyone could pick it up, They rather ignored the two tiny desiccated bodies that they found by the pump. Wink)

Lanaorana2 · 19/12/2017 16:13

Mr C's personal gas would kill every rat in Scotland stone dead.

Had you better call the gasman?

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 19/12/2017 16:26

No smell for two days.

cozietoesie · 19/12/2017 16:29

Quote from the gas engineer " Most of the 'gas leaks' that we have reported from domestic properties are actually dead mice."

lynmilne65 · 19/12/2017 16:50

you will absolutely adore him !!

Lanaorana2 · 19/12/2017 17:09

eh?

Going out to try for NB in a bit. AGAIL doubly delish., Dreamies, some new dried duck thing, Exigence fussy cat food.

Hot water bottle, cashmere jumper etc.

I'll be really annoyed if he's died.

OP posts:
Lanaorana2 · 19/12/2017 18:22

Downside: no screaming NB but screaming Caretaker appeared bawling out of window Don't Fall Over

Upside: NB alive, vanished for two days, last seen patrolling main gate

Upside 2: a vast, fluffy orange Persian barrelled past me from out of a ground floor window, hissed angrily, and got stuck into the LW AGAIL. Flattened ears when I smirked. Smirked back.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 19/12/2017 19:10

Well.....LW AGAIL DD? I'm not surprised. Grin
