The adventures of Newerboy

I've got a Siamese cat. He was abandoned by his owner and is living in state - three nests made by neighbours - in our garden. He is absolutely beautiful, aged 11, and a white/cream colour, brown eyes I think. So far we have blinked at each other, me flat on face behind bush in garden.

The lady who feeds him is going away for 6 weeks. She is in a royal state of anxiety so I stepped in. Have been trained to do the feeding, leg massage, etc.

His history is shameful. He has been coming to us for food for ages, finally taken to Battersea, where his so-called owner collected him in 90 minutes. Then left him to starve. So you see I can't not.

Any words of wisdom? I need them.

PS - foxes can be very bold but a healthy Siamese should have their measure. Anyway, if there's any trouble, I reckon you'll hear it. Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/12/2017 21:50

Trackers are quite bulky. How is his chip on his collar? Confused

Lanaorana2 · 15/12/2017 22:07

Brilliant, good to hear. I bet N chowed down pretty quick after rumours circulated of a proposed rescheduling :)

I shall investigate the collar tomorrow. Cozie, do you think that Newerboy might be ok outside given he was neutered as a fully grown mature adult of say about 7?

I promise that when you open the calendars, Newerboy will not pop out yowling. Feel free to answer candidly. Grin

Late neutered cats are often......feisty. What an unneutered Siamese male of - say - 3 would be like, I dread to think. He should be OK. (You - or someone - would soon hear about it if not, I would have thought.)

Lanaorana2 · 15/12/2017 22:38

I feel so relieved, thanks. Plan for now is to keep him outside as we reckon he will be all right and that is what he is used to. I don't want to frighten him at this early stage. Also better for Mr C.

In the meantime I can do those microwave hot water bottles and things, pick up the blankets, investigate a better waterproof house. However, if we get arctic chill, or he looks weedy, he's coming in.

Might ring Battersea to check that it's not theft if I give NB shelter in exceptionally bad weather conditions. Bugger it if it is, I'll just have to take both cats to prison with me.

The tree is now dressed - and in one piece so far. Tomorrow morning may bring different news of course. Grin

Kibobear · 16/12/2017 09:48

You are very brave with the tree Cozie. Ours is slowly being decimated every time my backs turned.

Newer Boy is a lucky lad to have found caring people ❤️

cozietoesie · 16/12/2017 12:52

So far so good. Smile (I found a tiny shred of tinsel on the carpet this morning but I can't swear hand on heart that that wasn't me from last night.)

YetAnotherSpartacus · 16/12/2017 13:06

Is he chipped?

cozietoesie · 16/12/2017 13:23

I just heard a very purposeful stomp down the stairs. (The tree is downstairs.)

I'm happier, I'll confess, when he's up in his (treeless) room.

Lanaorana2 · 16/12/2017 14:27

He hasn't 'let himself down' on the trunk has he?

NB is alive wh is a plus. Just come back from Xmas shopping with seversl plastic plates for him and one present out of the 50 I have to buy.

A 'lively' yellow and purple striped hat for my brother. You can see it glow through the bag. It is clearly marked Ladieswear.

Might lie down for a bit.

cozietoesie · 16/12/2017 15:10

......lie down for a lot.....?? (My changes.) Grin

(He doesn't appear to have let himself down at all recently. Smile)

Good news about No 2.

Lanaorana2 · 16/12/2017 18:59

NB wouldn't eat his LW supper. He wandered into the garden when I called - and stomped past me into his nest.

I hung around for a bit, smoking, and feeling like I'd been stood up outside the cinema, then decided he might eat it if I wasn't there.

Mr C has no interest in his LW early supper either.

How is everyone's evening going.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 16/12/2017 19:08

Look on the bright side. Maybe he's eaten a rat or something. Grin

Lanaorana2 · 16/12/2017 20:36

:) Or a readymade takeaway, the chippy is one of the best in London.

NO sign of the foxes. Yay.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 16/12/2017 20:45

What are you talking about? A rat is a ready-made takeaway! Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/12/2017 22:12

Maybe it's because your new, you know how they are for sticking to routines.

At least he came when called.

Ollivander84 · 17/12/2017 01:16

I've been out so have been head bopped just to check I still smell the same. His sheepskin bed liner has been shipped Blush
Disclaimer, I found a website that sells off cuts so not as extravagant as it sounds. I worry he gets cold Blush and tell him every night to come and find hooman if he is chilly

Lanaorana2 · 17/12/2017 11:13

What is website pls O? Ideal for Newerboy. How are you both re tomorrow,.

Just sitting here fretting mildly about NB being cold and Mr C has insisted I open all the doors and windows in flat. He got an extra meal out of me in the night. Doing barmy whizzing now. Youmove is fine stuff, as is his new pain treatment.

Ollivander84 · 17/12/2017 13:37

Hopefully link works, has measurements on each too https://www.skyeskyns.co.uk/browse/c-SheepskinInteriors-2/c-Petmats-24/

Too busy for nerves! Am working lates today

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/12/2017 13:43

Let's hope that Ollie still decides to find hoomin ... otherwise the comfy sheepskin might have to be donated to cats in more need

Lanaorana2 · 17/12/2017 14:55

Oh, honestly, grrr. It is tipping it down uncontrollably in London and NB needs a new bed now, basically. Just had conference with caretaker to see if we can raid, er, the tenants' storeroom for something suitable :)

My idea for emergency: those blue ikea bigas cut up and laid flat on ground. Seize big plastic cat carrying box, split into two halves. Fill bottom half with nice warm blankets etc. Wedge top half in upright, so NB can get in and out. Cover whole new building with tarpaulin. Insert Dreamies.

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 17/12/2017 15:18

Sounds feasible. Need to weigh the tarpaulin down with something.
