I've got a Siamese cat. He was abandoned by his owner and is living in state - three nests made by neighbours - in our garden. He is absolutely beautiful, aged 11, and a white/cream colour, brown eyes I think. So far we have blinked at each other, me flat on face behind bush in garden.

The lady who feeds him is going away for 6 weeks. She is in a royal state of anxiety so I stepped in. Have been trained to do the feeding, leg massage, etc.

His history is shameful. He has been coming to us for food for ages, finally taken to Battersea, where his so-called owner collected him in 90 minutes. Then left him to starve. So you see I can't not.

Any words of wisdom? I need them.

I use Diclofenac (prescription strength) twice a day and occasional top ups with Co-Codamol for mine. You can get a really reasonably priced TENS machine in ASDA of all places! Acupuncture helped for a while, but doesn't seem to work for me any more Sad.

I'm probably not helping by lying on the bed in slightly odd positions to give Boycat his morning & night time cuddles - he insists on lying in one particular place & sort of leans up against the beanbag I sleep with (to crook my legs over for the bad back) so i have to lie slightly cramped up to get the right angle to stroke his belly EXACTLY the way he likes it Grin. About 10-15 minutes every morning & night.

Mr C came in to sitting room 30 secs ago, fresh from a tour of the estate (took 2 secs, for some reason longer today). He opened his mouth as if to mew, at which point I sprang up to serve the evening buffet, all 4 bowls of it. He chowed down.

Only when I left the kitchen did I see that an entire pack of M&S chicken slices has gone, and that he'd scoffed the lot and demanded high tea - in inder a minute.

Asbo had 4.5 pouches by 3pm. He conned Dh by swearing blind he was starving & I hadn't fed him.

I need to get a paw print off him.

Lanaorana2 · 28/01/2018 20:34

Get some dreamies, one of those twee baby print kits off ebay and book an appt at the minor injuries clinic for 2 min after you start.

Terrible noises coming from CT. (Crash, Bang, Kerwallop etc.....) I feel the need to investigate.

Lanaorana2 · 28/01/2018 22:42

Cozie? Are you still there??

You're not wearing brown are you Grin

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 28/01/2018 23:55

No - but that reminds me. I have two mice in my pocket! Grin

Lanaorana2 · 29/01/2018 11:31

Phew, you're there Cozie I was about to report you missing :) 'See, there's this young'un who lives with her, we don't know much about his background, well, technically he's a cat, Officer, but....' Grin

(Joke - that would only happen in a real emergency)

I've got a boil, I've been sent to bed for a week. Was livid but now I'm really rather getting into it. Dr C is in attendance :)

NB's owner has returned!!!!

She's annoyed that NB's addicted to Gourmet and Royal Canin, whereas prior to her departure he lived on Tesco basic.

She says the caretaker 'didn't spend enough money on his food'. Shock

Neighbourly relations are tinged with frost. The caretaker is really annoyed, so I told him to take all the posh Amazon stuff home for himself and divert remaining deliveries to his own flat. He bust a gut to do the job, unpaid and unthanked, may I add. He got some wine and cake as Xmas presents from NB (via me), but I don't think the owner produced anything even as a thank-you.

I paid for all the food but she doesn't know that and neither will she, I don't mind admitting to NB's house.

The complication is that Pepe the dachshund will now not eat anything but NB's Exigence, so the caretaker is still doing a food run even tho she's come back. The gong was pretty mournful this am.

I find it hard to think of the sheer cheek of the owner!

Ollivander84 · 29/01/2018 21:26

Enough money Shock
I just sat on Ollie. He's fine, apart from giving me accusing looks. He will sleep on a fluffy black cushion Hmm

YetAnotherSpartacus · 30/01/2018 08:07

I just sat on Ollie

Honestly. What that poor cat has to put up with.

Have you ordered your paw cast kit yet?

Lanaorana2 · 30/01/2018 10:36

O well he sits on you..... :) Spartacus Grin

It is a cheek, isn't it C. What makes it worse is that if the caretaker takes on cat feeding, he normally gets paid and the food supplied, ie the bog-standard arrangement. I think it's 20 quid a day in London if not more ie pet nanny.

NB's owner produced 0.00 for any of the 6 weeks we did it. I wasn't expecting anything, but it's a bit off for the caretaker. Not even a postcard from her hol.

Hey ho, at least NB's still alive. And a bit fatter :)

Question: does anyone think I should have a gentle word with her? I don't want to start a MN-style neighbour row. But if she goes away again, she'll be hard pressed to squeeze a smile out of the caretaker, let alone a pouch or two for NB. And she will be off soon.

Subject just looks confused ...

I can see the claw marks!

cozietoesie · 30/01/2018 13:45

Difficult to say, Lana - we don't need her taking out any bad feelings on poor NB.........

I'm still flabbergasted. That anyone could go off and leave an animal - of any sort - uncared for for a goodly period of time. (And as for a Siamese?................)

Lanaorana2 · 30/01/2018 14:55

I agree C but she won't take it out on NB, she's not that bad. We will keep mum, however.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 30/01/2018 15:01

.....she's not that bad.......

Oh Yeah??

How long was she away for? (Leaving NB to fend for himself.)

Lanaorana2 · 30/01/2018 18:22

Well quite. No wonder NB loves the caretaker so much. He doesn't love me at all :)

PBoy has suddenly become much more vociferous. He'll even permit some stroking while he's eating a Dreamy. I put it down to the new packet of Dreamies. (The real thing for once.)

Ollivander84 · 30/01/2018 23:14

Stroking?! Grin new milestone. O has eye drops in today, between that and me mistaking him for a pillow, he's stalking around giving me HmmHmmHmm faces

cozietoesie · 30/01/2018 23:26

I'll confess to not having tried PBoy on ribbon. Grin
