I've got a Siamese cat. He was abandoned by his owner and is living in state - three nests made by neighbours - in our garden. He is absolutely beautiful, aged 11, and a white/cream colour, brown eyes I think. So far we have blinked at each other, me flat on face behind bush in garden.

The lady who feeds him is going away for 6 weeks. She is in a royal state of anxiety so I stepped in. Have been trained to do the feeding, leg massage, etc.

His history is shameful. He has been coming to us for food for ages, finally taken to Battersea, where his so-called owner collected him in 90 minutes. Then left him to starve. So you see I can't not.

Any words of wisdom? I need them.

Hmm apparently not. He's never ever done that before

cozietoesie · 17/12/2017 23:22

Nip it in the bud then. If he's howling outside, respond to him - irritably. He needs to remember that he did a Bad Thing.

Ollivander84 · 17/12/2017 23:24

In fact there must be something in the air today. My horse refused to stop eating when I tried to put her bridle on so got told off for that. Then refused to have her bit in by slamming her teeth together. When that failed she stuck her head up and pretended to be a giraffe. Female horses... the worst Angry
I'm sure the telling off she got will linger now until I next ride when she will probably drag my leg into the fence. They're very much like Siamese, long long memories

cozietoesie · 17/12/2017 23:24

PS - you need to achieve a brooding silence. That's fine Smile

cozietoesie · 17/12/2017 23:29

If a Siamese is 'denied the Presence' they'll usually only howl if they think it's unjust. Otherwise they'll hunker down (outside the door) and brood about their particular sin. Open the door after 20 minutes and let him in - but (and this is important) don't invite him in or coochy-coo him. Act ignoring.

Ollivander84 · 17/12/2017 23:30

He sat down. I let him back in and he's slunk back to his bed giving me side eye

cozietoesie · 17/12/2017 23:36

That's fine. Smile

Lanaorana2 · 18/12/2017 10:37

Yes, you don't want him getting too bitey.

When Mr C used to attack me, it hurt like hell. I didn't shout at him but I shouted bloody loudly and made a fuas , Turned away from him for at least 10 minutes. Ignored him for a bit longer. He was more interested in seeing how I would react than the wounding itself,
I reckon.

I knew he had to trust me not to retaliate and to keep loving him even when naughty, but he bites really hard. I didn't fancy that on a regular basis, so I went for the 'more in sorrow than in anger' approach. Cozie gave me the strength to be firm. Worked. No A&E for months now.

Full disclosure: Some issues one has to overlook. I have a small scratch on my knuckle. But last night Mr C kipped on my face.

Massive good luck today.

That looks lush. I am going to get one in TK Maxx, they might not be as delish as the ones on your lovely website but I can install it before Xmas. Mr C has taken terminally against heated throw.

My elegant and debonair feline Is currently scratching, belching and hawking on my feet, prior to resuming nap. Gas is a problem.

How is Newboy this fine day?

I'd have struck a lump of coal in there until he learned how to be a good boy again :).

It does look very luxe though! :)

Lanaorana2 · 18/12/2017 14:03

You should feed him before alcohol, not after.

Is it a bit warmer? He might be on his rounds for longer if it's mild.

cozietoesie · 18/12/2017 19:28

Poor you.Sad

When do you plan to go out again? (Because I know you shall.)

Lanaorana2 · 18/12/2017 19:36

In the morning, unless you think I should try later? His bed is warm and dry wh is good and he has food.

Mr C is pointedly ignoring my absence.
