Poorly wolfie

A handhold please. My girl isn't eating. We had blood taken yesterday and a vet check.
Heart rate and temp on the higher side of normal.
Lungs ok. So not pneumonia. Which is common with her breed.
No discharge or other sign of pyometra. (Can't spay giant breeds till later.)
Not dehydrated.
Drinking and weeing.
No diarrhoea
I'm really worried. She's so quiet and subdued.
Phantom pregnancy? First season August?
I'm waffling really. Just want her to be ok.

You haven't had fireworks or a bad storm or something that has scared the giant beast ? Sounds like you have all the bases covered hope she feels better soon . Go and buy her a rotisserie chicken and hand feed her , or a bacon sandwich or in my dogs case drive him through Macdonalds for a plain cheeseburger , always guaranteed to eat then .

Oh no, poor big Wolfie girl

Hope you get some answers soon. My boy was a bit off his food earlier in the week but in his case it was due to hot weather. Obviously that's not the issue in your part of the world.

She has lost half a kilo in 10 days. She's on raw. Eaten a couple of chicken necks but won't touch the mince.
Not scared. No storms.
Ate nothing at all for a good couple of days. She's just so flat. Curled up at my feet.
I'm wondering about a urine infection? Not had a wee yet this am. Squatted a couple of times and changed her mind. Will take her for a tiny wander in a bit and see if she goes.
I suffer from anxiety anyway and having waited over 20 years for my heart hound. How I didn't sleep with her last night I don't know!
No coughing. A sneeze this morning.
Nothing clear!

Gosh how worrying. I'd go back to the vet if she's not passing urine. Hope she's soon on the mend, I hate it when my dog is poorly .

She doesn't sound right. The flat bit is worrying. I also know that with the sighthounds they don't carry much extra condition to start with so can't really afford to lose much weight.

Poor baby! No advice, just lots of sympathy to you and your girl. Hopefully it's a passing doggy bug and she'll soon be fighting fit again.

Right. Potter round the block. She was quite bright. Sniffing about. Ears up and trotting. Pulling a bit to get to the good smells!

No poo. But no upset tum either.
Rose she shouldn't have eaten anything. She's in a pen at night and if we go out. She isn't off lead anywhere I can't see her. She's not a sock stealer. She is a leaf eater though!
Vet did palate tummy.

Fingers crossed she is just off her food for no reason other than to worry you . Hope she feels better soon.

Poor old sausage. Good sign that she's drinking and weeing. Try not to panic, she'll probably be right as rain soon and wearing you out again.

I know she eats raw which I think most dogs love but could she just be being a fussy thing and if you offered her something different in raw food that she doesn't usually have will she readily eat it? Mine would ignore his food for days until I mixed it up a bit for him and he is such a skinny thing I was mortified as he just kept losing weight. He now inhales his food and I can't remember the last meal he looked at and ignored yet it's the same food overall that I feed him.

Did the vets say how long to wait and if no improvement to bring her back?

She is a picky madam. Dried food was a nightmare. I had to sprinkle stuff on it and even hand feed her. She also does regularly refuse to eat that much. She just isn't all that food orientated.
She just isn't herself. Soooo quiet. You never think you will be desperate for them to jump up and bite you! (In play!!)
BTW I'm not a mad "ALL DOGS MUST BE FED RAW AND KIBBLE IS EVIL POISON" nutter! I switched as she didn't like the kibble and she seemed to have an allergic reaction to something in it. (Cleared up when we switched!) I wouldn't mind cooking some chicken and rice etc or offering just about anything right now but I worry about the allergy thing kicking off again.

How about some scrambled eggs? Mine go nuts for it, and ddog1 is a right fussy beggar. They are also extremely fond of a tin of sardines

Last time I tried fish I got the whole lot back.
We have had skin and ear and eye issues. I'm so scared to try something that could upset her again.

Me too. I'm back worrying about bloat now! Will ask vet if she could develop it if she doesn't eat?!

I'm the same as you - switched my girl to raw after her refusing kibble and wet food, plus digestive problems and allergies. It's all such a worry isn't it when they go off food because you don't want to trigger any more reactions.

Did the vet check her teeth and ears for any problems? Ear or toothache are horrible.

My dog has a sensitive belly and she gets like this when she feels sick, she won't puke or have toilet issues but I can sometimes hear her belly and she keeps stretching to try to relieve the discomfort in her stomach.

Maybe she's got a headache or something similarly hard to detect.

Don't be overly worried yet. Have you tried feeding her treats or a cheeky bit of your dinner to see if she is totally off ALL food?

Vet looked in her mouth. But not a full open mouth look at all surfaces of the teeth. But the only thing she has eaten is a crunchy raw chicken neck. Surely she wouldn't if she had toothache?
Ears no. But she has just finished treatment for ear problems the other week. Showing no signs like she did before. She likes having her ears rubbed. No heat or muckiness. No running her head on the floor or furniture.
She's not stretching but I thought I heard a tummy gurgle earlier.
She will take a bit of dried liver. But not exactly showing any enthusiasm.

Here for handholding and hugs, hate the fact they can't tell us what's wrong All I will say is that mine do have off days, both got quite sensitive stomachs and my boy in particular is very picky with food so we do have days like this where one of them is quiet, not interested in food and just seems 'off'.

My DM's boy is the same, seems to suffer with wind/tummy ache sometimes and has had a couple of odd days lately where he's been off his food. DM can hear his stomach and he seems really uncomfortable and unsettled, in his case it usually culminates in a one-off vomit and then he settles down and is sleepy and quiet the rest of the day. Vet doesn't seem concerned, just said some dogs have more sensitive systems, much like humans I guess.

I won't say don't worry because you will anyway til Wolfie's back to normal but there's a good chance it's absolutely nothing to worry about. Will keep everything crossed that's the case, totally understand how you're feeling

She did just eat a tiny bit, jump up at me once and have a little play bite of my bum. Normally I would say that's a bad thing. Today I'm quite glad.
