A handhold please. My girl isn't eating. We had blood taken yesterday and a vet check.
Heart rate and temp on the higher side of normal.
Lungs ok. So not pneumonia. Which is common with her breed.
No discharge or other sign of pyometra. (Can't spay giant breeds till later.)
Not dehydrated.
Drinking and weeing.
No diarrhoea
I'm really worried. She's so quiet and subdued.
Phantom pregnancy? First season August?
I'm waffling really. Just want her to be ok.

Another hand and paw hold here.

What raw food supplier are you using? It is quite common for dogs to go off minces from one supplier but be happy when switched to a different one.

Given that she has had a couple of chicken necks, I'd be looking to try to get her to eat something boneless. Have you got any chunky meat you could offer her or perhaps try some scrambled eggs or cooked chicken.

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2017 15:52

Cocker I'm truly loathe to start messing about with food. She has suffered horribly with ears and eyes due to different food.
She has food from a supplier I know personally. Several varieties !
She's just so damned quiet.

Hope vets give you some good news. It would be so much easier if they could talk or point to what is wrong. No wonder we spend most of our time worrying about them.

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2017 15:54

I think it's the pneumonia that really worries me. It is stupidly common in this breed, they need a long and non standard treatment and if you don't catch it or are unlucky then they die.
I thought having pets was supposed to decrease stress levels???

My dogs are my main source of worry! Hope she feels better soon. I didn't know about pneumonia in wolfhounds. Bloat is my main worry but sounds unlikely in your case.

No vomiting?

BiteyShark · 20/10/2017 16:02

I mentioned to my doctor that I should be losing weight with the dog walking but it's going the other way. His response that owning dogs was good for you in so many ways but that doesn't seem to be the case when there is always something to worry about Sad

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2017 16:17

SHE'S JUST EATEN!
She was trying to eat leaves in the garden so I thought I would offer an early dinner. Hand fed a tiny bit and put a little bit in the bowl. She ate so I added more. It wasn't an enormous meal but it was an actual meal!

Then she came in the living room, chewed a toy and bounced at me! I'm really hoping we have turned a corner.

Thanks for hand holding this neurotic loon!

Yay! Well done girl.

Ive just got a new pup and my stomach goes in knots if he acts slightly off and my older dog currently has a bit of leg stiffness. Such worry!

BiteyShark · 20/10/2017 16:24

Good news Grin

Tedster77 · 20/10/2017 16:27

Yay!! I have a Wolfie x Deerhound and she can be such a funny thing with food. She goes in to depressions and sulks for a few days sometimes!

Really hope yours is on the mend now xxx

Cockerpoodledoo · 20/10/2017 16:41

Fab update. Keep it up Wolfiepup!

Soubriquet · 20/10/2017 16:44

Brilliant. Maybe she had a bit of a bug and just felt rubbish

tinymeteor · 20/10/2017 16:47

Good stuff! They do like to make you sweat occasionally...

Bubble2bubble · 20/10/2017 16:48

Ah good news :)

Laceup · 20/10/2017 17:29

I'm so glad to hear she has eaten...have you had any blood results back from yr vet yet?

KinkyAfro · 20/10/2017 18:46

Great news, hopefully it was something and nothing like a tummy ache

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2017 19:56

Tedster I bet your dog is a stunner!

Yes bloods back and unremarkable. Temperature normal tonight. Vet have her a once over. She did seem brighter in herself. Thinking is diagnosis diva! Bit of a bug or eaten some garden debris and had tummy ache. Never been ill before so sort of overreacting!

Hoping for more eating and livelier tomorrow. Oh and some poo. Preferably normal. Wolfhound sized diarrhoea? Eek!

Glad bloods are ok and she seems a bit brighter, hope she's on the mend Flowers

bluetongue · 20/10/2017 21:20

Great update Wolfie. Love diagnosis diva Grin

I know what you mean about increasing stress levels. Bluepuppy has the teenage stage and I'm currently questioning why I decided to bring the crazy, chewy monster into my life. He also had some seriously liquid poos last week which caused me to worry. Can't believe how excited I was to find a couple of solid poos to pick up Grin

Laceup · 20/10/2017 21:24

Wonderful news about the bloods being ok x

Wolfiefan · 20/10/2017 23:37

Blue I held my breath whilst she ate. There may be actual whooping when we get solid poo.
Breeder thinks phantom pregnancy. Can't spay a giant breed until they're fully grown so about another year till we can even consider it.

picklemepopcorn · 21/10/2017 12:01

Ah, good news!

BiteyShark · 21/10/2017 14:07

How's WolfieDog today?

Wolfiefan · 21/10/2017 14:18

Thanks for asking Bitey. Quite lively. Ate a tiny bit with some serious coaxing. Enjoyed a walk. Still no poo since Wednesday though. (Sorry Bitey! The things I share on here!)

OP posts:
BiteyShark · 21/10/2017 14:23

Hopefully with a bit more food in her belly might produce a poo Grin. God yes it's funny that most of our conversations at home involve BiteyDogs backend Grin.
