starts next week sun 14 June
on sun mon tue and same following week so 6 parts

On the surface, JESS is the ultimate yummy Mummy, she has a loving husband , adorable kids and a tight net group of friends all living in posh London

But when JESS’s baby is rushed to A&E things quickly unravel

one of the friendship group Liz is a medic who treats a little girl and she suspicious how she got the injury

LIZ has got to follow protocol as a doctor but she doesn’t realise how quickly it spirals and there is no going back

To make things harder, LIZ and JESS are not that good friends

they’ve kind of fallen out of each other’s lives

jess is played by Diane Kruger and Liz by our fav JJ - Jo Joyner

Have binged it. Will be back to discuss when you have all seen it. I hadn’t seen it, but had sounded familiar checked & had read the book.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/06/2026 21:29

Omg. I know what happens

It was Mel’s partner. He’s the only horrible one out of them

he must have dropped her 🙀🙀😢😢

What a horrible man 🙀🙀🙀😡😡😡

poor Frankie. But what a great little actor he was

so glad it wasn’t one of the boys

obv none of this would have happened if she hadn’t of left the boys

amazed she was let off all charges esp leaving kids alone - one would have thought as still be involved

but all in all a very good series. Kept guessing till the end

The book had a different ending, but I preferred this. I can’t really remember the book tbh & had to look up the differences as I was like that’s not what I remember. This seemed more interesting.

FannyCradocksDoughnut · 24/06/2026 10:47

Pretty good for channel 5 they are improving!

As an aside I absolutely loved that cream linen shacket that Jess was wearing but I'm rubbish at tracking clothes down online...anyone?

Oh really ?

what was book ending

It was Charlotte not Rob, but from what I remember was an accident and Rob was a bit character. But that’s all I remember. I can’t remember what happens to Charlotte or how it comes out. Will have to dig it out.

Ooh interesting - I thought it was Charlotte almost from the start. Will have to read the book now.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/06/2026 13:14

Why do they do this ? To like a book to make it into a series but change the plot

I liked rob being the one as he was an arse

charlotte was her friend tho fancied her dh

I enjoyed that but it turned a bit Channel 5ish in the end,

Rob was a liar and he and Mel were about to split anyway ,Charlotte made it obvious to Andrew that she didn't love him, Liz is a drinker , and as for poor little innocent Frankie , he'd have needed a lot of therapy .

Happy days!!

Ah, that explains why I kept thinking I'd read something similar but it was a woman, not a man, that came to the door! I must have read it ages ago and forgotten.

Whataflippincircus · 24/06/2026 23:02

That was surprisingly good for channel five!

I really enjoyed it - need more like that

Kipperandarthur · 25/06/2026 09:16

I really enjoyed it too and thought it really quite decent for Channel 5.
I certainly didn't see the ending coming and he really was a horrible, horrible man.

I particularly enjoyed the local scenery and their houses and gardens.

Although it did make me laugh that Jess was wearing satin slip dresses towards the end for family picnic type events.

Clawdy · 25/06/2026 12:38

None of it would have happened if she hadn’t left them alone though. They were both so young.

Cheeseandolivesplease · 25/06/2026 14:53

@Clawdy Exactly that. In real life she'd definitely have had SS involved due to neglect. Ultimately she was in charge and put her tiny children at risk.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/06/2026 15:47

That’s what I said - amazed let off all charges

Just finished watching this series and apart from getting distracted by Jo Joyner's far too thin and arched eyebrows, I found it quite traumatic tbh!

Poor Jess, having to go through all that by herself. They really should have been using better contraception if they didn't want a 3rd child (which Jess said she didn't)..

Can't believe what am absolutely dick head that Rob guy was. Why the hell was Mel wasting her life with him? What an absolute loser! Although all I could see when I saw and heard Mel speak was Angela Scanlon.

That Charlotte character was also a piece of work. So gorgeous and living the rich girl life with a lovely husband. Why couldn't she just be content with that? Oh no, she had to go and try and get between Ed and Jess. Ffs!

Poor little Frankie. He was already so babied that it's no wonder he ended up with issues after the things Rob said to him. Am 8 year age gap is far too big IMHO.

Why did baby Betsey scream all the time anyway? Even if Jess didn't have any PND OCD or whatever it was actually called, it would ne enough to drive anyone to distraction. She should have reached out for help. With such a tight knot circle of friends around her, it's a shame she felt under such pressure to keep up the perfect mum act 😐

It was nice that I recognised some of the places where they filmed. One of them was where I got married, actually.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/06/2026 22:25

Oh claim to fame @Meredusoleil

MyballsareSandy2015 · 26/06/2026 13:50

Just binged it …. I really enjoyed it. A few holes but most of series do … that house def wouldn’t be without cctv or at least a ring doorbell.

Charlotte was awful .. some friend! And so patronising to the others.

Rob had done a number on Mel, vile man.

Was that the lensbury club at the end?

Cheeseandolivesplease · 26/06/2026 14:16

@Meredusoleil The point is, the "rich girl life" doesn't equal happiness. On a surface level may be, but Charlotte clearly didn't find her husband sexually attractive in the way she definitely did Ed. I don't think Charlotte and her husband were being intimate much any more reading between the lines, if at all. It wasn't a happy marriage.

I do see your point, but I personally think Andrew was better looking than Ed. Ed just looked like a rugby playing hunk that spoke like a posh toff. Andrew seemed more down to earth IMHO.
