Blondeshavemorefun · 09/06/2026 13:37

starts next week sun 14 June
on sun mon tue and same following week so 6 parts

On the surface, JESS is the ultimate yummy Mummy, she has a loving husband , adorable kids and a tight net group of friends all living in posh London

But when JESS’s baby is rushed to A&E things quickly unravel

one of the friendship group Liz is a medic who treats a little girl and she suspicious how she got the injury

LIZ has got to follow protocol as a doctor but she doesn’t realise how quickly it spirals and there is no going back

To make things harder, LIZ and JESS are not that good friends

they’ve kind of fallen out of each other’s lives

jess is played by Diane Kruger and Liz by our fav JJ - Jo Joyner

Liz said that she hadn’t seen Jess for a long time ( I think she said this? ) yet she was invited to the party.
Why didn’t Jess tell her husband that Betsy had a bleed on the brain?

Older boys are in same class so that’s what she was there

But yes why didn’t Jess say to dh about injury

as Jess climbed stairs once home she also looked down them and went funny

maybe she tripped and dropped Betsy down the stairs or she fell as no stair gate

but why not say

her story changed from being in the kitchen and B in living room alone to all in kitchen climbing fridge And saw her fall

Jess is acting suspiciously isn’t she. Feel sorry for poor Betsy.

the80sweregreat · 15/06/2026 13:35

Jo Joyner as Liz is an irritating in this , but I can remember a few of the characters were in that book ( it is slowly coming back to me now, but I still can’t recall what happens)
I think I gave the book to the charity shop , so can’t look it up!

Gloriia · 15/06/2026 14:57

We need Jill HP in one of her many coats to add to the tension.

I noticed Patrick Maladi at the ante natal class, he's a fairly well known actor seems odd to have such a small part. He didn't seem to be at the kids party so he's either struggling for acting work or he'll feature more, maybe Jess had a fling or something.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/06/2026 14:59

Oh. I didn’t notice him. Will have to look again

I did notice shelley conn as Charlotte

It has that ‘ filmed through a film of plastic ‘ look that these dramas seem to feature a lot.
I did like Liz speaking to us all , the fourth wall they call it. I’ll stick with it , it’s on tonight.

Quite gripping and disturbing so far. What a huge garden they had! That party looked amazing - till it all went wrong.

ilovebrie8 · 15/06/2026 16:34

They always have such amazing houses !

the80sweregreat · 15/06/2026 17:53

These dramas never show anyone in a one bed flat do they ! It’s always beautiful places with mullioned windows and all looking spotless.

tennissquare · 15/06/2026 18:20

I think the houses are in the St Margaret’s area of Richmond/Twickenham near Twickenham Bridge. The hospital is a studio in Budapest as it doesn’t look like any uk based hospital!

Edited

The house and garden was rather fabulous. I got quite distracted.

Pluto46 · 15/06/2026 20:44

Found the acting a bit awkward and wooden in places and the 'interview' bits to camera were really odd. Would have seemed more plausible if they were all old Uni friends - the vast majority of one ante-natal group forming such longstanding, intense and intertwined relationships seemed a bit unbelievable but that's the book rather than the programme

purpleme12 · 15/06/2026 20:46

I have to say I'm really not a fan of the bits where they talk to the camera

It doesn't do it for me at all

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/06/2026 21:32

I like the 4th wall or whatever it is called. Annika did that

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 15/06/2026 21:41

Why is it called the fourth wall?

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/06/2026 22:06

purpleme12 · 15/06/2026 21:41

Why is it called the fourth wall?

The "fourth wall" is an imaginary boundary between the performers and the audience in a play, film, or TV show. The performers pretend this invisible wall exists, acting entirely as if the audience cannot see or hear them, which allows the viewers to feel like they are peeking into a real world

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 15/06/2026 22:08

Not sure why it’s called the fourth wall. Might just be an acting term for interacting or speaking to the audience directly , but no real idea.
That holiday was fraught. Almost as bad as the one in Greece in ‘ two weeks in august ‘ ( bbc one) 😩

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/06/2026 22:09

now we know why Jess and Liz fell out. Over her drinking /kids missing /possible jealously and the fact she doesn’t vaccinate her kids

I'm so glad I've never had a group of friends to go on holiday with! And all the men have nothing in common, they're just tagging along with their wives. I'd absolutely hate it.

the80sweregreat · 15/06/2026 22:14

I do remember in the book the friends having a few fall outs. I do feel it’s sticking to the same plot so far.

the80sweregreat · 15/06/2026 22:19

I went on a big holiday with my dh’s mates once in my 20s. I didn’t know them that well.
No children around, but it was a bit of a disaster with too much alcohol, fall outs and punch up and people fell out over money.
Im glad they found the children during this one and they were ok!

Gloriia · 16/06/2026 08:31

Quite interesting all the dysfunction between alleged good friends on holiday. Not sure why it was her responsibility to put the kids to bed, you'd think they'd have A. Told their kids not to randomly run off and B. Put their own to bed.

The husbands are all horrible aren't they.

No idea on child protection matters but I wonder if that is really what happens the social worker and police randomly ask everyone questions without legal representation, all seemed a bit chaotic.

Quite like it though it is intriguing. Must be one of the kids who she's covering for what with the 'she cries a lot' and one of them seems to gets a bit overwhelmed occasionally.

purpleme12 · 16/06/2026 08:47

I guess that theory would make sense

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/06/2026 09:51

I’ve said from the start it was the son

and she said she would put them to bed

but yes they should know better then to run off and Just how big is the property
