I feel like her parents made excuses for everything she did - felt like she was used to getting everything she wanted.

Where did I say that it wasn’t reckless or that she didn’t deserve that sentence? Of course she did.
But the feeling I got was that she didn’t strike me as the type of person who wanted to harm herself. She was far too full of her own self-importance for that. That’s what makes me think that her initial intention was probably just to get the power back in the situation by scaring boyfriend.
Vile girl and I hope she remains locked up.

I think it was a "if I can't have you, no-one will" type scenario as Dom was dumping her.

Like the "family annihilator" type cases more usually seen with narcissistic men who shoot their wife, kids and then themselves.

Vile of her family to shout "we love you, you're innocent" etc etc in front of the deceased's family.

I also disapprove of the lawyers swigging bottles of pepsi in the courtroom during a flipping murder trial! Mind you, these american lawyers have no decorum - I hate it when they backslap each other and hug their clients after not guilty verdicts, ignoring the bereaved families.

I watched it yesterday but admittedly was distracted as cooking at the time. However did they explain why two much larger males with no seatbelts didn’t appear to try and grab the wheel or pull her away which would likely mar the footage show the car swerving at least

@Ridingthegravytrain there ARE signs that someone grabbed the wheel and tried to take the (automatic) car out of the "drive" function and into "neutral".

the momentum at 100mph meant it was all futile. They were always going to crash.

I've just watched the Ch4 epsiode of Killer Cases which is about this car crash.

I can't believe she came out of that horrific wreckage without any long term injuries!

So far, I think Mackenzie is coming across as a very troubled/disturbed teen, possibly with mental health issues and an ED. She looked very skinny to me.

Just starting the film on Netflix and will report back.

1/3 of the way through now and all I can say is what a pothead she is and her father is just as bad 🤦‍♀️

Her father has just been suspended from his job as a teacher in a Catholic school. Suspect that's because of his "I don't care if she smoked weed, I smoke weed, you smoke weed" speech in the documentary. Can't have a teacher saying something like that in public.

The vile mother's jail phone calls with her vile daughter are on YouTube. Pieces of shit, the pair of them.

whats sad is with better parents her life could have been so different. Here she is serving a life sentence in jail wasting all her best years .

What's sad is there are two families who are grieving the loss of two young men who had their whole lives ahead of them.

Well, you can see where Mackenzie got her tone deafness and lack of sensitivity from.

How on earth could he have picked that t shirt up and thought, "yes, this is the one to wear on TV as I talk about my daughter killing two people in a car crash"?

The more I watch of this, the more I'm thinking she is actually a manipulative, psycho bitch with a possessive bunny boiler personality.

Basically, like pp said: Dom wanted to break up with her, so she wouldn't let him at whatever cost! An out of control wild child who had always got her own way and could do no wrong in the eyes of her neglectful and enabling parents.

Also noticed in the Killer Cases episode how bored and indifferent the dad looked during the trial. Awful, awful man.

Yep. I'm sticking with a rage infused murder as the reason for the crash. And also, I have to agree that she is right to be behind bars for the foreseeable future.

I agree. The whole thing just doesn't fit together. She is an oddly detached person. In all her interviews, she seemed to be putting on an act. Almost as if the influencer lifestyle had entirely taken her over. Nothing seemed 'real'. The parents were the same. Just not quite real.

She probably doesn’t know where the Insta/Tik Tok version of her ends, and she starts.

Agree with all that. Was relieved my teens were also absolutely horrified at her and the parents.

Dd2 actually knows one girl who is similar to this. This girl has been expelled from every school in our small city. Dd and her group distanced herself when she was at their school after being initially friendly and welcoming. They think she has some sort of personality disorder. At the time despite normally wanting them to be inclusive I was glad they had the instinct to give her a wide berth. She even looks the same as this girl. She hangs out with older male drug dealers now.

Could all the drug taking have affected her brain in some way?

Probably but lots of teens use drugs and don't end up killing people. I think her personality and her upbringing were more important factors.

Probably a toxic mix of all 3. Those poor lads. The parents literally did not give a shit about them. I actually find people like that terrifying. The girl was bad enough but she was very young so at least there’s a chance she could improve - the parents had no excuse.

She spent her formative years under the 'care' of her vile parents. As a teen she's clearly very mentally unwell (obvious eating disorder and drug abuse). She then murders two innocent men and will spend the next 15 years in a prison. She shows no signs of remorse or accountability and her family support her in this. Nothing short of a miracle would be required for her to leave prison a reformed character. I'm sorry but it's very, very optimistic to think there's a chance she will improve.
