Anyone watched this?

I feel like her parents made excuses for everything she did - felt like she was used to getting everything she wanted.

What’s it on?

I've got it saved on Netflix.

Watched it last night, mixed feelings.
I think Mackenzie came across as spoilt and shallow for sure but also her whole friendship group seemed shallow. Doesn’t make her a “psycho” as some people have suggested.

Her parents were awful, something seemed off about her Mum and the Dad was a dickhead.

Having an older boyfriend at such a young age, and living together was a big red flag for me. Their relationship was toxic but wondered if there was an element of DARVO going on from the recording of her at the apartment (he locked her out of their home?) and the two different accounts from when they called his mum from the car.

I don’t buy the POTS excuse because surely blacking out would have made the car slow down before impact but I think there’s definitely reasonable doubt and she should have had a full jury trial with medical experts called.
She also needs a thorough psychological assessment (maybe she had one but it wasn’t in the documentary).

The evidence is quite strong to suggest she crashed deliberately but what we don’t know is why? did she really plan it? Was it a stupid heat of the moment decision with terrible consequences

Tragic loss of life which is the important thing but not convinced from the documentary that it was murder.

Ipsevenenabibas · Today 11:23

She's a monster and I can see with parents like hers how she came to be. RIP Dom and Davion.

dottiehens · Today 11:48

I was shocked to the core with this documentary. It clearly shows how bad among other things toxic social media like tick tok is. The fakeness of it all and the dangers of potentially your kids being prosecute and private videos use in trials as evidence. I believe M is evil and a bully and her parents were very relaxed. All very disturbing for parents with teenagers.

SilverPink · Today 12:01

I honestly don’t think anyone comes off well or likeable in this documentary, apart from Davion’s dad and sister. Mackenzie was an entitled brat, and as for her parents…
I think she hit teenage years and they just got bored of parenting her. Let her do whatever she wanted and when she decided to move in with Dom even better, she wasn’t their problem any more. Dad was definitely a stoner at one time.
Dom was a low level drug dealer so not necessarily the nicest guy they all made him out to be - I read somewhere the house he lived in belonged to his mum, she had two houses next to each other, she lived in one and he lived in the other. Presumably that was why she saw through Mackenzie early on when Doms dad and sister were defending her, living next door she probably saw and heard a lot more.
The social media friends were all thick as pigshit druggies - birds of a feather flock together.
I have no idea whether she caused the accident on purpose or it was just a moment of madness or anger, however I’m guessing all that weed smoking would not have been helpful for a young developing brain.

My daughter has Pots but she wouldn’t kill
anyone

Well they weren’t blaming POTS on behaviour, they were using it to suggest a blackout

XelaM · Today 13:46

@user293948849167 and @SilverPink You don't need premeditated intent for it to be murder! Recklessness is enough and there is no doubt in this case whatsoever that she drove them into a wall at 100 miles per hour with no attempt to break. Whether she intended to kill them or was just reckless is irrelevant - it's murder. And just because Dom was a low-level drug-dealer doesn't mean he deserves to be killed in the most horrific way at the age of 19.

ThisStateOfIndependenceShallBe · Today 13:50

I watched it last night, been thinking about it and just kind of spewing out my thoughts here.

Mackenzie's parents were awful, in their eyes she seemed to be the special little princess who could do no wrong. I thought it was very insensitive of her father to call out, "we know you're innocent," as she was taken away after the verdict. And letting her live with her boyfriend at seventeen seemed quite negligent.

And as for her relationship with Dom, it looked toxic, but was it all coming from her? She was so young when they got together, and I wonder if she ever really had a chance to grow up properly while enmeshed in a relationship with an older boy.

As someone said up thread the recording of her trying to get into the house was used to make her look bad, but he'd locked her out of their home. What happened and why was he recording it? Had he pushed her to breaking point and was recording her reaction to use against her?

Obviously, whatever was going on in their relationship he didn't deserve to die, and I don't mean to sound like I'm making excuses for her.

I wondered why the judge gave her a minimum of fifteen years, saying she she didn't think she'd be released in fifteen years. I think she said it was likely Mackenzie would spend the rest of her life in prison. Did she see her as completely irredeemable?

Davion's family seemed lovely. I felt so sad for his sister.

This was so weird. Why give her 15 years to life and say "It's because I doubt you'll come out after 15 years". That made no sense.

Yeah I thought that was odd too, particularly as she had given her a sentence of two terms of 15 years to run concurrently (i.e. at the same time), rather than consecutively (i.e. one after the other, so 30 years).

AccidentallyWesAnderson · Today 16:14

There’s an episode on C4 covering it on Killer Cases. She’s 100% guilty.

muddyflipflops · Today 16:45

There is a YouTube channel called phone calls from prison and they have her calls on there to her mum, they are henious, the apple does not fall far!

Her boyfriend's sister has just started a podcast on YouTube called big sister unhinged, she has only just been able to speak about things as the family are still devastated, understandably! But she has been reading people saying Dom (the boyfriend) was a dealer, etc etc which is all false and she wanted to speak up for him. He was a highly driven, ambitious entrepreneur, even starting a clothing line.

There is so much to this story and that young lady is right where she should be!

He was quite clearly a dealer, even a low-level one. He was making loads of money on cryptocurrency apparently at age 20, yeah right. He was splashing cash everywhere and posting videos online of loads of drugs. They even showed texts from their friends asking to buy drugs from them.

He started dating her when she was 13.

I suggest you look into the case, you are wrong. , the info is all out there. How awful to spread this false narrative about somrone who was murdered. Also to add, the group of friends and the friendship group portrayed in the documentary as being close, "brother and sister like' is also false. They were Mackenzies friends, they were new to Dom. Dom was a victim of Mackenzie and was trying to break up with her towards the end.

The young man was murdered, don't you have any shame? Imagine he was your child and you came across comments like yours on the internet! Even if he was 'high level' drug dealing it doesn't mean he deserved to be murdered or make what happened to him any less sad.

The age gap was only 2 years wasn't it? She was 17 and he 19 when the crash happened. When they started "dating" she was 13 and he 15. Hardly a huge age difference.

The boys took their seatbelts off to try and lunge at Mackenzie and stop her - that's the suggestion the episode of Killer Cases that deals with this case. (Series 5, episode 12)

Also - it's being suggested she opted for a bench trial rather than a jury trial because her lawyer knew a jury wouldn't like her whereas a judge could be more objective.

One thing I don't understand is how she came out of this almost unscathed?! Surely the driver would have the most impact? Unbelievably lucky (and wicked). Maybe it's because she still had her seat belt and they didn't? 😥

Pricelessadvice · Today 18:35

I don’t think she intended to kill anyone, but I do believe they had an argument/disagreement and she decided to floor the car to scare the shit out of her boyfriend. I’m not sure why the brake wasn’t hit, but whether she just panicked at that point and turned the wheel instead, who knows.

She came across as a rotten human being, but her parents were awful so it’s no wonder. She’s clearly been raised as a spoilt princess who can do absolutely no wrong.

Whether she intended to kill them all or was insanely reckless, it doesn't matter- it's still murder. Driving into a brick wall at 100 miles per hour - whatever the intention - is at least criminally reckless. Murder does not require premeditated intent, recklessness is enough.

If you shoot a gun into a room full of people, you can't then claim it's not murder if one or more of them get hit and die.

LovelyCoconuts · Today 18:38

Apparently the sling she was wearing during part of the trial was entirely costume and not medically necessary!

She definitely dressed up as an "innocent wee girl" during the trial whereas she looks like the hardfaced bitch that she is when she was interviewed in prison.

LovelyCoconuts · Today 18:40

@XelaM think we may both have studied HMA v Crawthorne during our degrees?! Re shooting into a room full of people. Can't remember the exact name of it, was 25 years ago now!

Scots law has the best definition of murder - recklessness as to death is sufficient.

LovelyCoconuts · Today 18:41

The body cam footage of Dom's mum being told he's dead is absolutely horrific. (On social media)

Urzurtixitxigcog · Today 18:43

I’ve seen a claim that she did a trial run 3 days before
