New 8 part drama for a Saturday night

The drama stars Jessica Raine (The Devil's Hour, Patrick Melrose), Damien Molony (Bergerac, Brassic), Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Still Up), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life, The Book of Clarence), Leila Farzard (Kaos, I Hate Suzie) and Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, Fleabag).

Written and created by Catherine Shepherd (‘Sally4Ever', ‘The Shrink Next Door'), ‘Two Weeks in August' follows the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life.

But, here in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare

The synopsis continues: "Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up.

old wounds are re-opened, sending the group in a chaotic spiral that soon begins to snowball, threatening to upend each of their lives in unexpected

When they discover they are trapped on the island, and become faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame.

Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play?

We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods…

Leading star Jessica said "the big question of the series is how the audience is going to respond to a character like Zoe".

"The decisions she makes to get what she wants, and the consequences because of that," continued the actress.

"The idea of a woman deciding not to sacrifice everything, of choosing to put herself first, unfortunately still feels revolutionary.

I think every woman feels that, and that’s what I think will appeal.

Pan - that’s who he reminds me of!

I’m getting a strong whiff of Saltburn too.

Yes! rich crazy hedonists make for great stories but I wouldn’t want to be around them full time

I'm just watching the start of episode 3 and I think Zoe's character arc is a bit like Walter White in Breaking Bad. I'm guessing she goes from people-pleaser to "I AM THE ONE WHO KNOCKS!" - but have to wait and see...

I love Walter white 😍

Seen 2 eps.. it’s reminding me of the White Lotus

We loved it! First thing we’ve binge watched in ages.Hope they do a second series. Was so well made. Fantastic acting, script, tale etc.Would have preferred the filming to have been done in Greece but wonder if the mis settling added to the atmosphere. Just to say I would have done a really nice pasta with some gorgeous olives instead of the rank fish! Jess was so well acted( they all were), would have tipped her in the swimming pool on day 2! 5 stars from us.

Dr0pkick · Today 07:24

I loved Zoe’s journey too!

Nottopanic · Today 07:32

I am loving this. I’m gripped.

They had other food out for the bbq I noticed , so that must have been bought from somewhere. They could have sourced something else apart from fish from a different place, pasta is cheap and there are a lot of them to feed. I feel it was also a disaster because Dan didn’t want to do any of it really.

Tom played the nasty abuser in baby reindeer. He just has one of those faces. Sneery , but trying to be nice.
You would avoid those two.

the80sweregreat · Today 07:44

The accommodation would have had me running from the get go. All those steep stairs to get up and down , the lay out of the rooms, the bathroom being through one of the rooms. It may look idyllic, but it all just looked hard work for a break then your stuck with a petulant nanny and some other very annoying people.

Yes I’d have run for the hills
from those two.

I’ve been wondering how expensive it would be to rent that place for two weeks in that location at the most popular time of year? Such is my investment in the series it’s a little annoying we don’t know what Jacob does for a living.

the80sweregreat · Today 08:01

Surely people would have shared the accommodation with each other previously on a kind of chat app!
It was typical that the best rooms were taken by the time Zoe got there.
They didn’t seem to keep in touch much with each other

I think he said he works for a charity.

the80sweregreat · Today 08:19

Episode two (which was on last Saturday night ) on the boat , Jacob asks the boat owner if he has heard of ‘ world up ‘ a charity for refugees that he works for . I loved his answer ‘ no ‘ ! It was just the way he said it. Made me laugh.

Yes. You could almost see the disgust on the boat owners face as this bunch of pompous Brits piled into his boat.

I was surprised he let them go without accompanying them on board. It was like he knew they would get into some sort of difficulty and was happy to let them!

Meredusoleil · Today 08:24

I also thought he looked a bit like a Greek Omid Djalili 😂

Meredusoleil · Today 08:26

Why is everyone so interested in Jacob? Him and his gay lover are the two characters that annoy me the most. I want to know what Jess's bloke does for a living as he is always on his phone for work?

Can't believe the way Nat is manipulating the Jacob/lover boy relationship. She is definitely one to keep an eye on! So sly 😼

the80sweregreat · Today 08:26

The boat owner is classic. The writer must be a mumsnetter .. remember, no is a full sentence. Lol
He knows they will run into trouble.

BlossomBlossomBlossom · Today 08:27

The charity wasn’t for refugees. It was to raise awareness of inequality …

I’m assuming that Zoe and Dan’s room was actually just a bit of corridor / landing into which a bed was squeezed for rental purposes!

the80sweregreat · Today 08:28

Solomon ( Jess’s partner ) is an actor. I feel sorry for his teenage daughter and the other children.

No. She tries to argue that she is Gen Z and says something like "I wasn't part of this university set, which is why Solomon has a teenage daughter".

And the dad said something about having a second chance and trying to get it right this time, referring to the son.

the80sweregreat · Today 08:30

I thought Jacob mentioned refugees, but getting confused there. I am surprised that the boat owner let them out alone , but agree that he knew there might be trouble.

Why are you annoyed with both of them? The boyfriend is a bit of a childish prick (at the birthday party) but then that's one of the things I like about this series, it's so well-observed.

Meredusoleil · Today 08:35

Oh yes. Solomon is an actor. They did say that. I really must pay more attention. Its obviously not gripping enough for me atm 🤦‍♀️ I remember the nanny keeps asking him for advice as she wants to be an actor too.

I can't believe they've actually paid for her to accompany them on the trip when she isn't even doing any nannying. Jess is just wasting her/Solomon's money ffs.

What's the deal with the daughter and that bloke who keeps hanging around the harbour? I hope she's not going to get mixed up in some trouble? The parents are already bad enough imho.

Is Zoe going to become a murderer? She really looked like she wanted to hurt Dan. I mean he's not even trying to hide his feelings for Jess ffs!
