New 8 part drama for a Saturday night

The drama stars Jessica Raine (The Devil's Hour, Patrick Melrose), Damien Molony (Bergerac, Brassic), Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Still Up), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life, The Book of Clarence), Leila Farzard (Kaos, I Hate Suzie) and Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, Fleabag).

Written and created by Catherine Shepherd (‘Sally4Ever', ‘The Shrink Next Door'), ‘Two Weeks in August' follows the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life.

But, here in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare

The synopsis continues: "Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up.

old wounds are re-opened, sending the group in a chaotic spiral that soon begins to snowball, threatening to upend each of their lives in unexpected

When they discover they are trapped on the island, and become faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame.

Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play?

We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods…

Leading star Jessica said "the big question of the series is how the audience is going to respond to a character like Zoe".

"The decisions she makes to get what she wants, and the consequences because of that," continued the actress.

"The idea of a woman deciding not to sacrifice everything, of choosing to put herself first, unfortunately still feels revolutionary.

I think every woman feels that, and that’s what I think will appeal.

If I was the writer I would now be killing myself 🫣🤣

fundamentallyauthentic · 24/05/2026 23:23

Two episodes in and I’m loving this so far, so much better than the crap you see on ITV and Channel 5, well after and written. I don’t think the characters are either likeable or unlikeable - they all seem three dimensional and as ‘real’ as fictitious can be. I know the writer worked with a psychologist on the character development.

I read that they know each other from Uni.
Jess got together with Solomon at a later date , so she didn’t know them. He was married before , so I assume they did know his old partner.

Yes they said they all met at uni (apart from Jess).

I agree. He's a right misery guts.

How does everyone know he is depressed and tried to kill himself? All I gathered was that he got injured in the leg from a car accident?

I’m not sure. Did she mention it or did he when all together and he said his business was shit /lost it and struggling

So Jess isn’t mum to the teen

It’s eight parts , so I do think it may drag or have a filler episode where nothing much happens.
i wonder why they couldn’t film on Greece and only on Malta.

The Maltese govt give financial incentives to use Malta as a film destination.

I did a walking food tour in Valletta recently and the guide was explaining this .. very interesting.

Watched the whole thing yesterday. It definitely is at least one episode too long - the final two should have been compressed into one. But eight episodes seems to be compulsory right now, whether needed or not.

Otherwise very well written and mostly beautifully acted. Satisfyingly rounded characters and many about turns - almost nothing was quite as it first appeared.

I was very pleased to see someone from Industry in a minor role. Poor man’s White Lotus? Arguably. There was obviously more interconnection here - all the main characters knew each other so it’s a very different dynamic.

I admired the costuming - Zoe’s clothes are so much cheaper and more worn than any of her friends’ outfits; impossible not to feel bad for her with regard to that, on top of everything else.

Absolutely loved the Greek mythology woven into the story.

@Meredusoleil
He told them the first night at the dinner party with the awful fish.
He said it wasn’t an accident.
That his business wasn’t successful as they all had assumed. He had lost it all and decided to kill himself.
She was trying to hold everything together for the children and trying to keep the bright side out.
The friend, who horribly betrayed her by telling the other guy about the kiss after promising not to tell, had said she shouldn’t keep everything in, repress it as it could cause cancer etc.
That resonated with me. I have known friends and family go through difficult times and then cancer struck, sadly.

Oh yes. I remember now. Think I was only half listening by that point!

Jess’s mum is called Lisa and they are divorced.
Solomon has a boy with his girlfriend. I don’t think they are married? She doesn’t seem to like being with her little boy that much though ! The Nanny does the bare minimum doesn’t she !

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 12:00

Oh Avery ! Jess is her step mum.

No. She tries to argue that she is Gen Z and says something like "I wasn't part of this university set, which is why Solomon has a teenage daughter".

Only watched 2 episodes so far. My main questions are the two that had a kiss was a one time thing? Because she says she doesn’t remember most of the night but later on Zoe’s husband is like she knows and her eyes widened in a way which sort of suggested it was more than a snog

secondly. What was the point of pooling the €200 each at the start. If they all started scrabbling around for money. Sure that could have come out of the kitty if people are taking it in turns for the evening meal. Where’s almost €1k of cash going towards

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 14:42

The money for the fish bbq baffled me a bit too.
I guess it was just a kitty for drinks or other food bits and Zoe had put herself forwards to buy the bbq food for them all without thinking. I thought that fish wouid be cheaper to buy fresh, but clearly not!
They may have been better off fishing for their own if they had the gear for that! Lol

RhannionKPSS · Yesterday 14:44

It’s worth sticking with imo. Very funny in parts and the Greek mythology is interesting. Up to episode 5 now. I can’t see where it’s going and I like that

the80sweregreat · Yesterday 14:57

I like the Greek gods being referenced and I admit I get the Roman and the Greek ones mixed up and only know a bit about them.
They seemed very wise though.

BreakfastOfWaffles · Yesterday 17:19

Just started watching. This is why I avoid group holidays! 😁

I meant scrabbling round for money for the boat trip.

Blondeshavemorefun · Yesterday 18:01

Yes I mentioned the kitty /200e so why the big deal of the cost

missed the bit it wasn’t an accident

I like that the goat from Ep 1 has her own listing in the credits (Flower).

The acting is just brilliant. Even the bit parts, like the French nanny.

I feel a bit sorry for the actress who got the part of standing silently in odd places with her baps out! Hopefully a speaking role will come her way next!

The French nanny is Florence Banks - I looked her up and apart from speaking English, French and German her skills include piano, guitar, boxing, horse riding, Krav Maga, expressionist dance, ballet, and singing (a cappella, classic, and sprechgesang). I must remember to try harder in my next life!

Loving this so far. Dolly Wells and Tom Goodman-Hill are so well cast as the posh wankers, he is ever creepy in my eyes!
am looking forward to seeing this ‘Pan’ out

Pan - that’s who he reminds me of!

I’m getting a strong whiff of Saltburn too.
