New 8 part drama for a Saturday night

The drama stars Jessica Raine (The Devil's Hour, Patrick Melrose), Damien Molony (Bergerac, Brassic), Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Still Up), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life, The Book of Clarence), Leila Farzard (Kaos, I Hate Suzie) and Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!, Fleabag).

Written and created by Catherine Shepherd (‘Sally4Ever', ‘The Shrink Next Door'), ‘Two Weeks in August' follows the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life.

But, here in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare

The synopsis continues: "Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up.

old wounds are re-opened, sending the group in a chaotic spiral that soon begins to snowball, threatening to upend each of their lives in unexpected

When they discover they are trapped on the island, and become faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame.

Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play?

We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods…

Leading star Jessica said "the big question of the series is how the audience is going to respond to a character like Zoe".

"The decisions she makes to get what she wants, and the consequences because of that," continued the actress.

"The idea of a woman deciding not to sacrifice everything, of choosing to put herself first, unfortunately still feels revolutionary.

I think every woman feels that, and that’s what I think will appeal.

I really enjoyed the first half, it was so atmospheric and a really interesting concept. But it all seemed to go a bit batshit at the end and lots of loose ends (as someone else said, the island is literally burning to the ground by the looks of things and people are just causally going about their day??). I felt like the mythical side of things could have been explored more in later episodes. But I’ve come to the conclusion that it was just about a couple deciding they were better off getting divorced!

Guess all the shaggers in the big house weren’t bothered either

whether there or their own homes being burnt

Basically it was about a woman who stopped tidying up after other people and found herself I suppose! Even if she went about it a bit half cocked..
I was disappointed that Jacob got back with Will though.

Jessica Raine ( Zoe) is married to the beardy rich one in real life. I did find that funny when he was checking her out in episode one ! He was also in Baby Reindeer playing the creep who abused the main character in that.

I was also disappointed that Avery went off with the rich creep too :( I am hoping she didn’t have time to do much with him , just yuk.
Nat finding the yacht key on a statue with an erect penis was just so random too. The rich couple were bizarre and he is probably riddled.

Silverbirchleaf · 01/07/2026 07:48

It didn’t bother me that Avery want off with rich older man. It could have either been as a distraction technique, or she was testing the water. She’d asked for a rum and coke as a drink, so she was definantly pushing boundaries. I just thought that she was experimenting, for want of a better word, and discovering herself as a woman.

However, I don’t think anything happened, as the man was sitting on the bed still dressed. M

According to the Irish Mirror newspaper they met in “controversial circumstances…….. He left his wife of 20 years with whom he has two children and set up home with his new girlfriend…..”
Watching the series it struck me was it difficult for the actress playing Zoe to play the part.
Art imitating life and all that.

I had forgotten Tom G-H (beardy man) was in Mr Selfridge, I really liked that series.

It is so daft (and again soapy) when people go searching for something like keys in someonelse's house and quickly locate them.

The last episode had loose threads and felt rushed despite them having 8 episodes to get there. They spent a long time arguing and then suddenly boats appeared and everyone rowed away. The end.

But still, I enjoyed it!

Exactly this.
I was rooting for Zoe. I thought her husband was a wet lettuce.

Me too. I'm really missing something like that on TV at the moment. There was a short-lived thing about a London hotel in WW2 that had that same historical setting, upstairs downstairs dynamic etc, but it only had one season, I think, and there's not really anything else along the same lines.

His Hustle character is great, one of my favourite episodes (plus it’s related one earlier in series).

I don’t think Zoe stole the money. And where did she buy the dress which looked like a white nightie I have

I think Jess put the money in the make up purse and forgot

I watched episode 6 last night. Jon is right they are bad people! I was having lunch out with my family yesterday and was next to a table of people just like Nat!

I’ve been googling for the dress, does anyone know where it’s from? I’ll buy your nightie @Blondeshavemorefun 🤣
