I loved season 2. I loved Motherland too, but it was darker whereas Amandaland is softer and more heartwarming, which I'm enjoying. But it's maybe not as laugh out loud as often as Motherland was. The more cynical 'bite' gave more opportunity for comedy maybe?
I like the JJ, Mal and Ned relationship. I like the Fi and Della relationship, and found Fi calling Della in Hawaii o ask where her charger was funny and relatable.
I think it does a good job of making Amanda both excruciatingly shallow, awkward and cringle, whilst also making her human and likeable. That's not easy to pull off.
I liked the prom episode with the make up lady Claire from Birmingham and them all getting drag style make up.
I also like Joanna Lumley and how her character, like Amanda, is simultaneously awful and loveable. It was sweet how they conveyed she was lonely and coming to spend time sitting in Mal's shed. I laughed when ned said it was infested with old ladies.
I think they should definitely get Anne's Mammy back, as the contrast with Amanda and felicity was very poignant.
I can't remember when I last watched a BBC sitcom and enjoyed it. It's been a very long time!
