Just reflecting, Ross didn't do himself any favours by his poor explanation of what happened with Netty. People were suspicious because he'd said he hadn't planned to acknowledge her, making everyone think there was a plan in place.

But when tasked with it at round table he simply repeated the same phrase without explaining himself very well. He hadn't planned. What [we now know] he meant was that immediately on spotting Netty he decided not to acknowledge he knew her. The massive twit.

PomPomSugar · 08/01/2026 14:05

I've not read the previous threads (apols 😬) and this may have been discussed already but I think everyone is connected to another, hence the family tree. Didn't they used to subtitle each person with where they were from and now it is just career?

People speak of little else in these parts 😅

I strongly suspect Reece will be offed tonight.

I don't think so - he was under so much heat at the RT that they will probably leave him (and Sam) and off Maz (sadly). Unless Slip-shod Stephen remembers the conversation by the family tree... or decides he can continue to nail Maz on that one.

TillyTrifle · 08/01/2026 14:13

Stephen’s only hope is to keep Maz in and continue with the line that Maz was last at the tree, after Stephen and Rachel. If Maz is murdered then surely that puts even more heat on Stephen.

I think they have to kill Sam. Reece also needs to stay because he has so much suspicion on him.

Hello! Thank you for the new thread @CaveMum . Yes it can get all tedious but all this chat gets me through January.

@MrsLeonFarrell I assume she reused names, as each name confirmed that person was a faithful - hence narrowing down who is the potential Secret Traitor.

Maybe. I'm not sure.

I also think Reece is her Grandson!

butimamonstersaidthemonster · 08/01/2026 14:17

all the secret connections is so dull. I really hope it’s not a thing. It’s boring!!!

JaneJeffer · 08/01/2026 12:58

Did anyone else think Jessie jumping on Jack and wrapping her legs around him was a very intimate thing to do to someone you supposedly just met a few days ago?

Yesss I literally came here for this!!

I hate it. Should never have been allowed.

And it’s going to ruin every future series as the contestants hunt for family connections instead of traitors.

ChinFluff46 · 08/01/2026 14:27

I'm trying not to get influenced by what others opinions but am trying to home in on evidence.

Amanda from Brighton does not have a full South East accent. To Reece she said 'coom on'. I'm from South East but my DF is Northern, friends used to say I said words like 'one' different - Southern would be 'wun', Northern is more 'wonn'.

Leaning to Reece being her son, although their personalities are different, so maybe an Aunt.

We need an expert analyst in regional accents please 🤣

Mydogisagentleman · 08/01/2026 14:28

Unfortunately traitors can't be murdered. I really don't like Rachel or secret traitor whose name I have forgotten.

He used his grammar badly, which I felt was a pretty unfair blow to all round on him on.

I think his real downfall was that he was worried how it looked to Ellie. He was dammed if he said too much (over explaining) or if he didn't protest his innocence (something to hide).

Heck maybe Netty and Ross did go on a date once and they respectfully decide between Netty, Ross and Ellie after the show to not mention it, to avoid intrusion.

There is a lesson here for all of us (or, for those of a certain age, for those of use with teens or young adult DC), and that is, no matter how innocent you are, if someone thinks you are guilty, they will interpret your words to be a sign of guilt. So in the event of any interaction with the police, keep schtum and ask for a lawyer.

To give another example, when Rachel asked Ross "Was Hugo like this in the tower?" (I forget the exact words), there was literally nothing Ross could do that would not have been taken as evidence of guilt. He fumbled around, but then we all do when thrown a totally random comment like that. But if he had immediately said "But Rachel, my dear, I'm not a traitor, so I haven't been in the tower", she would have said "That sounds a bit glib", or whatever. I was just surprised that Ross didn't name Rachel as a possible traitor during his debrief. (Perhaps his best defence would have been "Why do you need to ask me?", which would have at least pointed more of a finger at Rachel. But apparently he just didn't suspect her.)

I'd quite like to see an "Uncloaked: WTF were we thinking" episode, where the players (the celebrities were the worst at this, but Judy's banishment this time was another great example) get to reflect on how their "gut instinct" turned out to be utterly wrong, and how they could maybe use that understanding in the future.

samarrange · 08/01/2026 14:41

LighthouseLED · 08/01/2026 11:30

I didn’t get around to watching Uncloaked - was the secret traitor discussed there at all? And presumably Ross had the normal envelope to open with the names of the traitors - was Fiona on that?

This was interesting. He still had two envelopes (as did all of the previous expellees), but we only saw him open the first one, which contained just two names, Stephen and Rachel. Either he didn't open the third one, or we weren't shown that happening.

I'm not sure if this is a continuity issue. I was actually surprised that when the other expellees were debriefed, we didn't see them open the ST envelope and go "Ooooh, fancy that", without revealing who it was.

LittleBitofBread · 08/01/2026 14:45

I wonder if we're going to see them all finding out who's the ST at the same time at some point?

Re: Amanda, I'd say she sounds a bit West Midlands-ish.

Jessie and Jack: I dunno, I think she's just that sort of person. There was also a lot of 'I love you so much' when they said goodbye to the people in the cages; not quite the same, I know, but in general many of them are pretty demonstrative.

ilovebrie8 · 08/01/2026 14:52

I love the show!
Was not surprised Fiona was the ST!
I thought that Ross and Ellie were an item so not a shock with that revelation. I think Reece and Amanda are connected.
Why did Reece not mention at the round table about Rachel and Stephen at the family tree? Unless the edit was skewed in some way.
Don’t like Rachel can take to her.
Why did Fiona do so badly at the task and didn’t return any skulls and played ditsy!
Ross not a surprise he went the whole Nettie thing sunk him unfortunately.
Fiona and Rachel not gelling as Traitors could be interesting.

I can't see that happening unless Claudia tells them when Fiona finally gets banished. Don't forget that Rachel and Stephen are the only people left who even knew that there was a secret traitor. As far as everyone else is concerned it doesn't matter.

At breakfast yesterday one or two people thought that the traitors must have recruited a replacement for Hugo because there was no murder. And to some extent they sort of did, because Fiona is now a "vanilla" traitor.

I suppose Claudia could tell them tomorrow "Actually, one of the traitors was secret for a while but they're not now, but I think that might just cause confusion. (Which, of course, need not be a bad thing!)

In future series, "Is there a secret traitor" will of course be part of everyone's speculation!

LarkspurLane · 08/01/2026 14:58

The family connection thing annoys me. Yes, having one boyfriend/girlfriend or mother/daughter would be fine, but if they are voted off and no one knew in the first place, I can't see the point.
Rachel saying to Reece she wanted to talk privately to Stephen at the very place where the public murder took place seems to be the biggest giveaway ever. Does he really not remember that? But maybe it's just because of the editing, maybe Rachel spends her time asking people for private chats (or it happens to Reece a lot).
I'm addicted to it, like salt and vinegar pringles, but I am not sure it's all that good - the characters this year seem quite samey samey (apart from Amanda, I love Amanda!)

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 08/01/2026 15:02

Re Amanda's accent - she's a gay copper, wouldn't be hard to imagine she may have moved to Brighton years ago as it was more diverse than where she started out

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 08/01/2026 15:02

ClaudiaWeveAllHadChildcareDaysLikeThat · 08/01/2026 12:27

What’s the relevance of 1934? Have I missed something?

It's the year Agatha Christie published 'Murder on the Orient Express' and 'Why didn't they ask Evans?'; also 'Unfinished Portrait' as Mary Westmacott.

Maybe there's going to be a challenge on a moving train again..

pouletvous · 08/01/2026 15:03

Amanda is definitely a northerner (can anyone place her accent?) even though she lives in Brighton. Maybe she’s originally from Sheffielf

rachel and one of the men are both from NI

i really hope there aren’t multiple secret relatives

hugo and the other chap who was evicted last week didn’t reveal anything

ChinFluff46 · 08/01/2026 15:05

Not sure if it's been mentioned - a reason Reece kept quiet was him and Amanda had that chat about not mentioning Stephen was a traitor. They maybe need more conviction from the rest of the group before they take him down.

Not sure what more evidence they need 🤣

dayswithaY · 08/01/2026 15:05

TillyTrifle · 08/01/2026 12:33

Fiona has a very high opinion of her abilities as a traitor, she seems to think she is an absolute genius. Yet her dithering on the task yesterday was ridiculous, she is definitely overacting the little old lady role. I had no idea she was only 62!

I like Rachel. I’d like to see her take down Fiona!

I felt so bad for Sam last night. It was really unpleasant leaving one person who no one chose to help, just sitting watching the task. It’s a game of course but that felt like a very low set up. Anyone would feel like utter shit about themselves after that and he clearly did 😢

I was thinking this could influence the next round table. Sam now stands out as the unpopular outsider in the group and therefore fair game to be banished.

Reece also looks weak as his partner Fiona couldn’t even be bothered to try in the task.

Quite cruel leaving them in cages - like a humiliation.
