What’s the best TV Series you’ve watched in the last 5 years?

For me it’s the German Series Dark on Netflix and the American series 1883 which is Paramount + but has now turned up on Netflix.

Dark which was about time travel really made you think and 1883 about Pioneer life/Cowboys was just quietly beautiful

Normal People
Kin

(but I haven’t seen Succession and I’ve heard it’s good, so maybe that in due course!)

and yes, Happy Valley I also really enjoyed

Oh yes Normal people! I’ve watched it three times over and read it after

Beef - netflix
Two doors down - bbc iplayer

WinterFoxes · 10/05/2025 22:02

Succession.
Also loved Slow Horses.
Severance is good but a bit samey and may go the way of Lost if it doesn't focus soon.

OohThatCat · 10/05/2025 22:03

The Mandalorian, Andor, Ted Lasso, Once a Upon A Time

BebbanburgIsMine · 10/05/2025 22:04

The Last Kingdom

It’s the best series that’s ever been on tv

Youvebeenframed · 10/05/2025 22:05

Yellowstone
Ozark
Breaking Bad
Better call Saul
The Last of Us

ALittleBitWooo · 10/05/2025 22:07

It’s not new but I didn’t watch it until recently, The This Is England Tv series was absolutely brilliant.
Also The Virtues with Stephan Graham and The Act with Patricia Arquette were both great Tv.

CarrieAnnQ · 10/05/2025 22:08

Homeland

Mumteedum · 10/05/2025 22:09

Most of mine have been mentioned.

Succession, slow horses, White lotus, normal people...

I will add This Town, Alma's Not Normal, Industry and I am sure there's more I've forgotten.

notawittyname1954 · 10/05/2025 22:09

Its a sin. Still on catch up on 4.

NeverOneBiscuit · 10/05/2025 22:09

Breaking Bad

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/05/2025 22:12

Wakemeupbe4yougogo · 10/05/2025 21:56

Kin
This city is ours
The Last of Us
Yellowstone/1883/1923 - all amazing

The ending of 1923 was fucking infuriating ruined the whole thing for me.

Great to see so many shout outs for Kin. If you loved Kin get onto This City Is Ours which I think hasn’t had the attention it deserves because it came out around the same time as Adolescence which surprisingly no one has said

The two that stand out in my mind are Mr Bates and the Post Office, and The Leopard on Netflix.

alimac12 · 10/05/2025 22:13

The last kingdom
The fall
Virgin River
Money Heist

Magpiepie · 10/05/2025 22:14

For All Mankind (Apple TV)

Netrandom · 10/05/2025 22:14

Babylon Berlin and The Bureau. The first series of Babylon Berlin is probably the best season of a show I have ever seen. The Bureau runs it close.
Also, The Actor on Walter Presents is excellent.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/05/2025 22:14

Is Babylon Berlin Channel 4?

unsevered67 · 10/05/2025 22:15

Another vote for Succession.
Also loved Happy Valley and Severance

Charlize43 · 10/05/2025 22:15

White Lotus. It has just the right level of weirdness and the writing is so brilliant!

Babylon Berlin - is exceptionally well done.

ScarletWitchM · 10/05/2025 22:15

Black Sails is one of the best shows I’ve watched, I’ve watched the whole series twice and would probably watch it again

Closetangel · 10/05/2025 22:15

Yellowstone, 1883 and virgin river.

Haven't got round to watching 1923 yet
