The third series may be over but we still have a lot to say.

Alex was playing the keep schtum game and appeared pretty smart - unfortunately for him that can only get you so far

XelaM · 28/01/2025 20:44

All of this. Charlotte thought she was much smarter than she actually was. She could have easily won.

Well, I actually do think she's smart. But, I think she was overthinking it. Almost trying to pack too much treachery into the short amount of time she was a traitor! Yes, a few more subtle moves and she could have won. I still think she might have won without the seer twist, but possibly they'd not have taken a risk anyway.
Anyway, she didn't win, and I didn't want her to win. But, my point has been that her motivation wasn't malice at all, just over eager gameplay!
I get a bit upset when the public turn against someone, like a witch hunt, when we only have seen someone playing a role in a heavily edited game. I'd always prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt. It's just a nicer option that she was devoted to the game rather than anything more sinister 🤷‍♀️

Oh, I liked Lisa and Alex. You need a balance of personalities. Their calm presence was lovely to watch 😊

I started listening to Off the Telly podcast in the run up to the Gavin and Stacey finale and the two hosts, Natalie Cassidy and Joanna Page, have each dropped more than one intriguing comment about the Celeb Traitors. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them (or both) were in it and strangely I have seen Nat's name mentioned in another possible list online somewhere....

It was me who mentioned Natalie Cassidy, randomly among a list I posted earlier on this very thread. Total and complete fluke if I have guessed right.

modernshmodern · 29/01/2025 08:17

Celeb traitors would be great. Although I find American traitors less good as they are all main character energy

Dull is subjective, but I thought they both contributed significantly actually, especially to the challenges.

Alexander didn't win the prize money, but it's great to see the charity of his choice receiving support and donations from his appearance on Traitors. Hardly nothing to the party!

Edited

Alex, not Alexander

TBH I didn't not like them, I bet they're really nice people but if the castle was full of nice, no drama people who didn't want to double cross anyone it would be quite a dull show.

Someone, I think on the other thread, said they would have liked it just be Yin, Frankie, Alexander and some others I can't quite remember from earlier in the show, so basically the more serious contestants, but I think it would be really unexciting if people did everything in a logical way and I quite enjoy it when they're all being a bit clueless and can't work out anything correctly for days on end.

I don't think there's the slightest indication that Yin, Francesca, Alexander and whoever else were operating any more on 'logic' or rational deduction than anyone else! We have no idea how Yin would have played, as she was immediately banished for the heinous sin of appearing interested in the castle's books (which suggested she hadn't 'read' the room sufficiently), and I certainly wouldn't have pointed to Alexander or Frankie as particularly clear-thinking, just less shouty than some other contestants...?

XelaM · 29/01/2025 09:19

Leanne was the contestant who was awful to watch. A bully who was so full of herself. It wasn't at all pleasant to see her shout down anyone who dared to question her. Give me Alexander, Frankie, Fozia, Alex etc any day over that.

But Minah was my favourite contestant of all of them. She was awesome 🤩

Bloodycatswakingmeuponasaturday · 29/01/2025 09:35

Minah also my favourite. She was brilliant.

Although they all seem quite normal and nice now they're not in there anymore. I saw Dan and Yin are now good mates - I really liked Dan.

WinterCosiness · 29/01/2025 10:10

Oh, my favourite was definitely Alexander! No question!

Umbilicat · 29/01/2025 10:25

Leanne reminded me of THAT character in Australian Traitors 2 - no spoilers but those who have watched will know what I mean. As a tactic, shouting down is very effective though if it's not natural to you it'd be very hard to pull off - I couldn't do it.

I'm not sure how she survived 12 years in the army if she is like that in real life. I wonder if she was putting on what she thought a ditzy nail technician would be like, but then at the final firepit she was so ridiculously ott she must be a bit like that.

WinterCosiness · 29/01/2025 11:40

Just wondered if I'm the only one with a new ear worm?

Sperber yer yer yer!

I keep singing it, to an unknown tune! I can't get it out of my head! 😄

My 12 year old got into my bed at 6.43 am this morning and serenaded me with a rousing chorus of ‘Sperber yer yer yer!’

He claims it now dominates the internet.

Hah it's the insufferable Sam then 🙈 I'm only at the start if it, but he is actually mental 😂

HeronWing · 29/01/2025 21:48

I finally listened to Richard Osman and Marina Hyde on the final today — they both thought that the Seer innovation hadn’t worked (because it dooms whoever is involved if both claim the other is lying, as it’s only logical to banish both), and would be unlikely to reappear next season, and were interesting on what RO imagined was the heartbreak of the bookers doing the casting in the knowledge that their most interesting characters would almost certainly be banished early.

Both of them wanted Jack (the third of the Rail Replacement Trio) to be brought back next season, because they thought he’d be a good player, and because he’d already been through the casting and vetting process.

That got me thinking about vetting contestants. Other than I suppose a basic police check, criminal record etc, what else do you suppose they vet for?

Anything that would bring the show to disrepute. Of course, they are not going to confess any dark secrets, but I guess things that would appear in the tabloids as a result of someone who knows you selling a juicy story of some kind.

CaveMum · 29/01/2025 22:00

I’d assume they would want to take a look at people’s social media accounts and make sure they haven’t expressed any controversial views.

Health as well I would think. What would happen if someone rowing a boat or carrying giant stone dicks up a hill suddenly keeled over?

XelaM · 29/01/2025 23:26

I actually cannot believe my eyes watching the Aussie version season 2 😱
