The third series may be over but we still have a lot to say.

@HeronWing sadly no I’m not a subscriber. I listen to so many podcasts that I’d be broke if I subscribed to them all! I would consider a “Rest Is…” subscription if it covered all their shows as I already religiously listen to TRI Politics, TRI Politics US, TRI Money, TRI Entertainment, TRI History and TRI Classified! I draw the line at TRI Football though 🤣

Off topic but yes to a ‘Rest Is…’ bundle subscription! I’ve been wittering on about this for ages too ( but also not bothered about the football one!).

Richard Osman said he knows who is doing Celeb Traitors and the line up is amazing!

It will be interesting to find out who they all are, and once we know, I'll then decide whether I can bear to watch it or not. 😂

MaggieFS · 28/01/2025 14:54

Is the sleb version actually happening and do we know when it's airing? Or is just being filmed adjacent to the next main series and we're in for a loooong wait.

Richard Osman just said he knows who is doing it (and that he definitely isn’t!). Maybe they’re going to film this spring alongside the main series and the US version but broadcast earlier? I can’t believe they’ll do a full 3 weeks of filming with the Slebs!

ChoccyJules · 28/01/2025 16:58

I started listening to Off the Telly podcast in the run up to the Gavin and Stacey finale and the two hosts, Natalie Cassidy and Joanna Page, have each dropped more than one intriguing comment about the Celeb Traitors. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them (or both) were in it and strangely I have seen Nat's name mentioned in another possible list online somewhere....

Re Charlotte. I've come to think that people (myself included initially) have really misunderstood her.
I think she's one of the players who took the purity of the game very seriously. A game buff maybe? There've been others over the three series, including Ivan in series 1. I get the impression she didn't take stuff personally. So, possibly didn't fully comprehend the personal impact on others? I genuinely, sincerely don't think she meant to cause hurt. I really don't. I think she just was excited by her newfound traitor role, and was fully immersed in the game, and got a little carried away!

I was so upset about poor Freddie. However, in terms of Minah, she was amazing, but starting to run out of steam, and already had lots of heat on her, especially from Freddie and Frankie. If she hadn't gone that night, it would have been the next I reckon, regardless of Charlotte. If Charlotte hadn't voted for her, she'd have had to vote for Freddie, so he'd have gone the day before he did, though possibly better for him, as he'd have left declaring himself a faithful.

In terms of gameplay, I reckon the reason she recruited and sacrificed Freddie was that it was the last night a banished traitor could be named. So her last opportunity to potentially enable the others to think they'd caught most of all of the traitors. As Jake was convinced it had to be a bloke, she only had Freddie or Alexander to choose from. Alexander would have been less upset I think, but she probably went with Freddie, as he was one vote shy of being voted out earlier that evening. I still thought it was awful, but I don't think there was even a tiny bit of malice there, just ruthless gameplay. She wanted to win!

As for the suggestion that she cost others their game. Well, yes, but they all cost someone else their game! Minah and Linda ended the game for over half the players by ousting them! Those are the rules.

I most definitely didn't want Charlotte to win. I'm always team faithful, and I was team Alexander at the end; and my heart broke for Freddie. But, I don't think Charlotte is remotely the person she's been painted as by some. I think she just really played the game, with more enthusiasm and focus than most. Her line about the chess game not being 'the chess she loves and knows' confirmed her love of games and strategy for me. She never once was personal or aggressive towards other players at any other point. Other traitors in past seasons have been way more brutal. I can't help but think the fact she's a woman has fed much of the ire? Even if subconsciously...

I am wondering if they already filmed it while they were up there last Summer?

I agree she was playing the game and doingvitcreally well but I think when she was the only traitor she got carried away and played badly resulting in really quitereally shitty behaviour ( towards Frankie unnecessarily) She had no reason to immediately lie to Freddie about Leanne. He would probably have been voted off anyway, and she just pissed him off for no reason.

Yeah, I was shocked by the 'don't trust this woman!' stuff. I think (just guessing ) that she was panicking at that point, and I genuinely don't think it was as malicious as it seemed. In interviews she's said it was awful, but she felt a duty to the game to keep going. I doubt that line was premeditated.
Yes, not telling Freddie that Leanne had a shield was awful. I felt so sorry for him. But, on reflection, I genuinely, honestly don't think her motivation was anything other than trying to win. I didn't like any of those things, but I think we've misunderstood her and her motives. I do. Including me. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt anyway.
Wilf in series 1, and Harry last year, did similar or worse things. Traitors will be traitors! I couldn't possibly behave that way myself, which is why I have to be team faithful! I'd be a hopeless traitor! 🤭

witchycat2 · 28/01/2025 17:44

Wilf in series 1, and Harry last year, did similar or worse things.

This is very true. I wonder if sadly the audience unconsciously holds Charlotte to different standards as she's female? I've seen some pretty awful remarks on her appearance on the internet, I can't remember people saying much in the same vein about Wilf or Harry other than the latter's overuse of hair gel.

I think not telling Freddie about the shield was one thing, but suggesting Leanne, knowing he would be one ofvthose not told was a step too far, I think. I think she just got caught up in it and had her eye on the prize, but that sounds like a crap excuse about the game, maybe because she was embarrassed about her behaviour after the fact.

Yes, I'm sure there's misogyny involved. Conscious or subconscious. Probably not with everyone. But definitely the appearance critics.

Oh, I totally agree, it was awful. But my point is that I don't think there was any malice there. If anything, she seemed to have overthought it perhaps? She did go too far, and got overexcited and carried away! But, I'm pretty sure she's one of those game purists/buffs, and none of it was personal for her at all. In interviews, post game, she seems genuinely lovely.

Charlotte didn't have to keep the knowledge about Leanne away from Freddie and it was a waste to get him to kill Leanne.

If she had thought about it more carefully, they should have killed Jake instead.
This would mean that Leanne would have lost an ally in Jake, and would probably have gravitated towards Charlotte and Frankie towards the end.

Freddie was already under threat of banishment and so was Alexander, so she would have got away undetected because Freddie would not have been so pissed off with her, and mention her at the round table. She could have worked with Freddie to get rid of Alexander instead for the next banishment.

I agree with this. Charlotte really didn't think ahead enough (which I think Harry did in S2 and Wilf in S1). She should have thought about who would be left and what allies she could make. I thought Freddie did a good job considering what he was thrown into.

The Rest is Entertainment had an interesting discussion about the traitors (out today). Essentially Marina Hyde was saying that it's a different type of reality show than many others partly because it includes people who aren't usually on reality shows eg a vicar. She singled out Leanne and Livy as the sort of people usually on reality television and therefore less interesting

I came to post that too. So worth a listen.

TitsInAbsentia · 28/01/2025 20:12

Couldn't help but feel disappointed with Richard Osman said he definitely wasn't going on Celeb Traitors...I guess there is always hope he's lying!

Big yes to Natalie Cassidy - I love listening to her podcasts, find her really genuine.

TBH I found Lisa and Alex the most dull Faithfulls, they literally bought nothing to the party.

All of this. Charlotte thought she was much smarter than she actually was. She could have easily won.

Dull is subjective, but I thought they both contributed significantly actually, especially to the challenges.

Alexander didn't win the prize money, but it's great to see the charity of his choice receiving support and donations from his appearance on Traitors. Hardly nothing to the party!

Aah, yes. Alex. My mistake.

He was quiet wasn't he? Still, I think he was the one who sussed Armani early on.
