Gutted that Lulu has gone. Seemed like such a warm soul (I can imagine she's an excellent teaching assistant!) and her food was interesting and not something I had seen much of, if any of, on Masterchef.
Also Abi wanting it to taste like a Chinese takeaway but uses wasabi, a Japanese ingredient, and tempura, which is also Japanese?

I'm just bitter that 3 interesting cooks have gone haha. Glad Dinta smashed it at least.

Although Tom's deeply Scottish "OH YOU DANCER!!!" was my highlight of the episode, he seems like a lovely man.

I made Smash for the first time ever the other day. I recently discovered that it is just dehydrated potato and not some synthetic shite. There must be a knack to it, it wasn't very nice even though I added salt, pepper and butter. Should I enter Masterchef next year?

When I used to use it I made it with a mixture of milk and water, and added lots of butter! Never as good as real mash, but it was a great product to use in things like cheese and onion pasties.

In the unlikely event that I was ever on Masterchef and was required to create a tear jerking homage to my grandmother, I'd have to make Smash, with mince containing those little squares of carrot and brown overcooked tinned peas.

I had a Smash monster when I was little.

No, but look out frozen mash in the supermarket freezer! I do mine in a pan with a little milk, lots of butter and some English mustard powder. Game changer.

I remember the Harry Enfield Wayne and Waynetta sketch when Waynetta went on Masterchef and didn’t move a finger until the pizza delivery arrived!
