@TitsInAbsentia Claudia is the best, but I do enjoy Alan Cumming's campness on the US version

Stowickthevast · 20/01/2024 12:23

Checking in, I'm 100% faithful and relieved to be alive.

@AfraidToRun if any traitor is left at the end, they take all the cash.

I think Jasmine will be banished or possibly Jaz. It'll be interesting to see how Harry's story plays out. It's really a numbers game now. There are 3 traitors and 5 faithful so if they banish a faithful next episode and murder someone, it's even numbers, which basically means the traitors have all the power. That would be the best thing they could do to win.

But if Ross decides to target Harry, he may be able to get the support from Jaz, Evie, Zach and maybe Andrew. The clip with Harry saying "this game is just mad", makes me think he will at least be feeling the heat next week.

I'd like Jaz, Zach and Evie to make it to the end but can't see Mollie getting murdered so assume at least one if not two will go.

Sorry im still no clearer.

Say there are 2 left, you and another play. You don't want the game to end because you don't trust the other player but you can't banish either. So a faithful could know that someone is a traitor but still lose?

Turkeyhen · 20/01/2024 15:38

That's what I'm thinking: Ross and Andrew form an alliance to target Harry, which would mean getting the support of Jaz (who has voted for Andrew before), Evie and Zach (all of whom suspect Harry already). I think Mollie could do a Charlotte and turn on Harry if the others have a chance to persuade her.

Where Jasmine fits in to all this I'm not sure - she's under suspicion atm so could be the next to be banished? She was suspicious of Jaz but then voted Paul, so will she now refocus on Jaz, and if so who will her allies be? She doesn't seem to have much influence over the others.

BringOnFebBankHoliday · 20/01/2024 14:41

I never knew that!!! Thanks 😊
I only realised this week when Andrew became a traitor that the colours on their VTs are different. Traitors are orange banner with purple writing and faithful are the opposite. Andrew's colours swapped when he changed, otherwise I probably would never have noticed.

I never noticed that!

FruitBowlCrazy · 20/01/2024 16:09

I wonder whether either Harry or Andrew were shrewd enough to notice that look of grim determination on Ross's face, or smart enough to realise that they now have an enemy within. Possibly Andrew, but maybe not Harry, who is enjoying 'being naughty and not getting told off for it'.

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 20/01/2024 16:14

@FruitBowlCrazy I guess they have no clue about Ross / Diana so we (correctly) interpreted it as rage / wanting revenge. They will have just thought it was fear or determination.

NonPlayerCharacter · 20/01/2024 16:19

DontBeAPrickDarren · 20/01/2024 14:59

I would like there to be a reveal about Ross and Diane while Jaz is still in it though so he can be publicly vindicated!

Edited

If it can be somehow engineered for Ross to take down Harry by sacrificing himself, that would be perfect. Revenge most sweet, going out in full glory, and Jaz can still win.

I don't know how he could do it, though.

Time40 · 20/01/2024 16:24

Apologies if this has already been discussed but did other people feel uncomfortable with the task in the church? It felt really inappropriate to me and I'm not religious at all

Yes, agreed, and I'm an atheist. They would never in a thousand years have set a game in a mosque or a synagogue. What makes the C. of E. less deserving of respect?

Apart from that, I'm loving this series - it's the best one so far.

Hopingforno2in2024 · 20/01/2024 16:25

I am assuming that the church is deconsecrated. Otherwise I agree that it is inappropriate.

Turkeyhen · 20/01/2024 16:29

It feels like suspicion is growing around Harry, and his shield stunt could easily backfire. Jaz/Evie/Zack are already suspicious of Harry so if they were heading in that direction at the next banishment, all Ross and Andrew need to do is join in and Harry's gone. Ross and Andrew don't even need to form an alliance with the Jaz group (just as well, as Jaz has voted for Andrew a couple of times, and might be holding a grudge against Ross for voting for him on the night Paul went).

As an aside on Uncloaked Charlotte said that Jasmine used the word ‘convoluted’ and commented on it being a fancy word and everyone one agreed. It’s a word I use regularly, is it that unusual?

IGotItFromAgnes · 20/01/2024 16:33

That surprised me as well. I definitely wouldn’t have considered it an unusual word.

Kangaboo · 20/01/2024 16:40

Convoluted is a pretty standard term used regularly in relation to plot-lines, it wouldn’t have stood out conversationally to me.

One thing that does bug me is the declarations of love to the other contestants as they leave, it makes me shout ‘no you don't’ at the tv!!

They could do...they all seem to stay friends afterwards. It must be a very bonding experience.

If it has been deconsecrated, then no problem. If it is still a consecrated place of worship, they would have had to obtain permission from the Church, possibly smoothed by a considerable donation to building maintenance funds.
In any case, if it is in Scotland, it isn't C of E.

To be honest (and as a Christian) I'm slightly laissez faire about that, and far more bothered about animal welfare in the last challenge. There was no need for those toads to be there.

florentina1 · 20/01/2024 16:47

I thought the churches were studio sets. I know we see the outside of them but I thought the interiors were mock ups.

Kangaboo · 20/01/2024 16:51

@NonPlayerCharacter like each other maybe, tolerate, admire, I could understand but LOVE you all - nope!

That's exactly what I said, theres no way they'd do a task in any other place of worship.

I hate the live animal abuse as well, quite shocked Claudia goes along with that. How the bbc can produce shows like Planet Earth and then causally use toads (a protected and endangered species) for entertainment is 🤯🤯🤯

Im not really sure I get the love for the show but will stick with it incase I'm missing something. Everyone I know is obsessed with it.

TellingBone · 20/01/2024 16:52

Harry is so astute I wouldn't be surprised if he guessed Ross's secret. I hope he does. What a player he's been, win or not.

Hobbesmanc · 20/01/2024 16:55

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 20/01/2024 13:42

Signing in, I'm quite late to the show and I'm still not sure if I like it or not.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but did other people feel uncomfortable with the task in the church? It felt really inappropriate to me and I'm not religious at all. A show which celebrates being ruthless, manipulative, lying, greedy etc should be no where near a church surely?

I'm glad Claudia pointed out that all the traitors have been male (and white) really not very diverse. Who picks the original traitors? Is it random?

Anyway even with all my reservations I'll probably watch it til the end now 🤦‍♀️

Churches can make good money out of renting space to film and TV shoots. One cathedral made a load from Harry Potter.

I agree about the traitors being mainly male this year. But Miles and Ash were people of colour I think they generally get a diverse cast to be honest.

QueenOfThorns · 20/01/2024 17:11

Harry told Zack jaz and mollie he had a shield.

So if they assume he was targeted and survived that must make traitors either Ross Andrew jazmin or Evie. Ie throwing heat on 2 of the traitors.

This is a really good point @burnoutbabe ! I hadn’t thought beyond him trying to provide an explanation for why he still hasn’t been murdered, but this adds another dimension. Can he really be that devious? Shock

triggers34 · 20/01/2024 17:11

I am so loving this.
I think Harry has made a mistake in mentioning to Jaz and Zac that he had the shield because if he was a faithful how could he know that they are not traitors . A true faithful wouldn't tell anyone .

See above. It’s not a mistake, it’s bloody brilliant!

Mellowautumnmists · 20/01/2024 17:32

Thank you for these threads!

I'm wondering if someone will comment on the resemblance of Ross to Diane.

Since she was murdered I can't help but see the resemblance between the two of them, more so than beforehand, particularly around the eyes. And sometimes I hear a similarity in the way they both speak.

Then again, as viewers we are in the know and I'm probably looking for the similarities because of that.

It would be interesting though if someone did say something!
