Welcome Faithfuls!

This thread is for Traitors UK S2. Posting at TV pace so if you are not fully up to date then beware of possible spoilers.

Hang up your cloak, and pull up a chair at thr Roubd Table.

Whilst I find Claudia's comment hilarious, to be fair to the traitors, theyre not picking other blokes because the think they would be good traitors, they're picking them with the intention to then get them banished, and to feed the faithfuls another traitor.

I don't think the producers are deciding the storyline either. They picked very good original traitors, even Ash was a good choice from the viewing drama point of view, and now it's just playing out.

Ross makes me laugh, he's only there because of Diane, hunting traitors is really not his thing (and most of the others are rubbish too tbf) it will be interesting to see if he takes Harry down. It'll only take a conversation with Andrew saying he didn't want to be recruited either and Harry could be toast.

I don’t think it is fair spoil the end of a book or series, even if it’s hundreds of years old. It might have been around all that time but perhaps I’ve only just heard about it.

But that would mean no one could ever discuss anything!

You can discuss things without spoiling the ending.

Agreed. Plus no one seemed to think it off that there were two male traitors and one female traitor at the start.

Riverlee · 20/01/2024 13:38

I wonder who else they considered for the presenting role, as Claudia to me wouldn’t be the obvious choice to me - she’s more jovial Strictly than Herr Flick or Anne Robinson on The Weakest Link. However, she’s nailed it!

By the way, did anyone else take half of series one to realise that it was Claudia’s face on the flag, which I thought was just a nice heraldic pattern, until I realised it was a cloak and face.

Not if the ending is integral to the discussion! I do think with older books / films / TV series the onus is on the person who hasn’t seen or read it to avoid spoilers

Anyway, this is getting off-topic.

Whoever is doing Claudia’s wardrobe is doing an amazing job this season. I also wonder how much input the team have into what the contestants wear? I know someone had to go and get a different funeral outfit for Diane as the one she brought was navy.

IGotItFromAgnes · 20/01/2024 13:39

I’ve only just realised that from your post!

I have to agree with @IGotItFromAgnes

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 20/01/2024 13:42

Signing in, I'm quite late to the show and I'm still not sure if I like it or not.

Apologies if this has already been discussed but did other people feel uncomfortable with the task in the church? It felt really inappropriate to me and I'm not religious at all. A show which celebrates being ruthless, manipulative, lying, greedy etc should be no where near a church surely?

I'm glad Claudia pointed out that all the traitors have been male (and white) really not very diverse. Who picks the original traitors? Is it random?

Anyway even with all my reservations I'll probably watch it til the end now 🤦‍♀️

Fluffywhitecloudsinthesky · 20/01/2024 13:47

I felt uncomfortable about the church task both times around.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 20/01/2024 13:49

It plays out like Claudia chooses at the interview but in reality it's going to be the production team Claud probably gets a vote in there

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 20/01/2024 13:49

Also ridiculously invested in this. Going back to conversation on here from a day or two ago about friends IRL not watching it; I went to a friend's bday last night - about 20 50 year old women there - a couple of close friends were there that I knew watched it as we discuss on WhatsApp- but what surprised me was how many friends that I am lees close to are completely obsessed too. I think someone up thread mentioned that her friends look down on it as it's 'reality tv' but there was a complete range from all backgrounds and professions there.. all talking about the fact that we missing Traitors. I was surprised (but not as it's so brilliant)

ScribblingPixie · 20/01/2024 13:50

I'm glad Claudia pointed out that all the traitors have been male (and white)

They haven't all been male or white.

placemats · 20/01/2024 13:54

Claudia is always right. She nailed it.

Plus I love her shoes, obviously Doc Martens. I have the jumper.

Ross will avenge and next week will be brilliant. May the best person win.

Theydontknowaboutus · 20/01/2024 13:54

Checking in to new thread. I don't want Harry to win as he's cocky, really didn't like his comment about Diane. I would like a faithful win - they are the underdogs after all. Love how the Diane/Ross storyline has now rocked Harry's plan, without him being aware.

Girlontherailreplacementbusservice · 20/01/2024 13:55

I wonder if Ross would reveal his big secret if scrutinized at the round table?

Person X- Ross sorry, I love you mate but I think you have been recruited.
Person Y- yeah me too, I think you have changed over the last few days.
Ross- if they tried to recruit me I would turn them down......
Because they killed Diane and she is my mum!

GreenGermany · 20/01/2024 14:01

I find it so incredibly stressful watching! Ross is absolutely useless as spotting traitors whereas Jaz is fantastic at it. So hope he doesn’t go soon

ThePoshUns · 20/01/2024 14:09

Ross looked so angry when Harry spoke about murdering Diane to 'put her in her place'.
It annoyed me as well with the casual misogyny

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 20/01/2024 14:13

@ThePoshUns

I agree there is a degree of sexism they'd and found myself nodding along to your comment. But then I thought.. I could actually see Harry saying that exact same thing about Ie Zach if he had been murdered. I think he would - although I can see why it came across as misogynistic as Diane was a woman. I don't know ..

ScribblingPixie · 20/01/2024 13:50

They are now. That's why she said it.

Babymamamama · 20/01/2024 14:31

I don’t actually understand why Ross is so angry his mum was murdered. Often people are taken out because they are smart or onto something... that’s the game surely or at least part of it.

vincettenoir · 20/01/2024 14:37

I don't think it's scripted or that the producers overly influence the banishments or murders. But the edit is crucial.

For example I think the end of episode 9 has been edited to really push the narrative that Ross is out for revenge of Diane's murder. That is a great story arc and I don't judge the producers for taking that angle. But I think Ross knows he needs to double-cross the Traitors because he was recruited as a last minute scapegoat and they have probably played that element down.

Either way I think it is amazing television. I've been really enjoying it. It's better than season 1 because we have been seeing better gameplay from both Traitors and Faithfuls.

ClarasZoo · 20/01/2024 14:38

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 20/01/2024 12:06

His plan is to let others draw the conclusion that the traitors tried and failed to murder him because he had a secret shield rather than say he was an attempted recruit.

That plan (Harry’s) only works for one night though doesn’t it? What happens the next night when he is not murdered?

vincettenoir · 20/01/2024 14:40

My favourites are Zach, Evie and Jaz.
