Telly addicts

I know fron the last series that many think this is a series that should have quietly been taken of air years ago.

But the telly addicts thread last time was so funny that it made it worth watching just to be able to join in the comments.

As our two lead characters have zero chemistry and barely speak, and they rarely do any actual pathology, one can only speculate what even more far fetched adventure they will get up to this series.

Not forgetting each more implausible fashion get up Nikki will be wearing to work each episode.

I’m glad others enjoyed todays, I was worried that maybe it would just be me and my brain was rotting

JenniferBooth · 12/02/2024 22:33

Also, she looked very similar to ovarian cancer woman in last nights Call The Midwife

Yes i thought so too

FrostyFogg · 13/02/2024 06:54

I watched both episodes last night so I will keep quiet, but I will say that I enjoyed them.

FrostyFogg · 13/02/2024 07:06

I love the supporting cast and I thought that Joanna Carmichael played Joanne Perry exceptionally well.

FrostyFogg · 13/02/2024 07:14

Hayley Carmichael! I'm an idiot....and also cannot find the 'edit' button 😔

SoundTheSirens · 13/02/2024 08:48

I've only watched the first episode of this pair as we watch them at TV pace but having been very critical of the series so far, I have to say last night's was much better and felt like a 'proper' SW, easily the best for several series. Gabriel actually acted like a centre head, Nikki and Jack did pathology stuff rather than rampaging round the countryside out-policing the police, and Velvy was helpful and moved the case along (albeit mainly thanks to Kara, inevitably).

As an aside, every time Kara's interpreter* pops up my first thought is always "when did Prue Leith give up the cookery and become a BSL interpreter?"

*Not that she needs one since everyone, even including random saboteurs, are miraculously fluent signers.

Me too, think these were the best episodes in a long time

KohlaParasaurus · 13/02/2024 15:41

The series seems to have found its core again this week. I'm looking forward to part 2.

IwantToRetire · 13/02/2024 16:19

I also thought this was far better. More about pathology.

But ... like some others have watched both episodes and have 2 questions I really want the answers to.

So will be back later tonight.

Did anyone else notice the suspicious man's upside down phone case? I got really distracted by it!
The man who appears to have locked someone up in his house.

I may have misread those scenes but I didn’t get the impression the other person was locked up, I assumed it was a bedridden relative (father?) who I also assumed was the man in police uniform in the photo on the wall.

BillStickersIsInnocent · 13/02/2024 20:00

Really enjoyed last night, good to see Neil Pearson, although his acting skill did show the others up a bit.

CherryogDog · 13/02/2024 20:29

@SoundTheSirens yes you're righr, I rewatched because I wondered what had happened to him, don't know why I thought he'd been locked in.

feelingalittlehorse · 13/02/2024 21:51

Very optimistic chest compressions on someone who’s just had their brains blown out.

KohlaParasaurus · 13/02/2024 21:59

What happened about whoever was shouting in the upstairs bedroom of the man who was fished out of the canal?

CharmedCult · 13/02/2024 22:01

What happened to the bedridden father? He didn’t get a mention.

For a dreadful moment at the end there I thought Nicky and Jack were going to play out some wierd lodger role-play sex game.

SoundTheSirens · 13/02/2024 22:12

I still don’t buy them as a couple at all but I have to admit putting the ring box in an evidence bag did make me laugh.

WingingItSince1973 · 13/02/2024 22:17

I can't believe the ending just had me slightly tearful!!!! Anyway was much better than the other episodes so far. I love Hermione Norris and she played that part well. Bit complicated storyline but I think I've grasped it! Why did the security man kill his old police pal only to end up killing the killer and getting arrested? Was very very moving seeing the family members claim their loved ones.

Hellocatshome · 13/02/2024 22:18

The bed ridden person/presumably father was forgotten about.

Is Jack just going to let whats her name and Velvy live in his huge house by themselves?

WingingItSince1973 · 13/02/2024 22:18

Agree about Neil Pearson too. Excellent actor x

😱😱😂😂

PinkFrogss · 13/02/2024 22:25

I actually really enjoyed this weeks, although I think it would have worked better as a longer story. A series of unforgotten, perhaps.

I got a little emotional at the end, with the twin.

The evidence bay proposal even almost made me come round to Nick and Jack.

PinkFrogss · 13/02/2024 22:29

Come to think of, has anyone seen the actors who play Nikki or Jack in another show? Apart from some sort of documentary (about jack the ripper maybe) with Nikkis actress I don’t think I have.

If their Silent witness salary is high enough to last them the year you’d think they could try a bit harder to make the relationship believable

Nikki / Emilia Fox was Co-producer (or something) in a fairly recent detective series set in Italy called Signora Volpe. I assume Volpe is Italian for Fox: she played the main character.
