I know fron the last series that many think this is a series that should have quietly been taken of air years ago.

But the telly addicts thread last time was so funny that it made it worth watching just to be able to join in the comments.

As our two lead characters have zero chemistry and barely speak, and they rarely do any actual pathology, one can only speculate what even more far fetched adventure they will get up to this series.

Not forgetting each more implausible fashion get up Nikki will be wearing to work each episode.

DD and I are going to watch last nights tonight and then tomorrows when it's on. That'll properly throw our week out🤣

IwantToRetire · 06/02/2024 17:35

I thought this episode was just bad.

I am sure the script writers had their hearts in the right place, but most of it was just not believable.

On top of Nikki and Jack doing everyone else's job better that they do.

And the oh so convenient instance of having someone who can lip read.

Just bad. Couldn't even find anything to have a giggle about.

And Julie Graham was nearly as wooden and Jack.

Need to find some other light relief tv.

Why is episode 4 not on the catch up? Isn't it part 2 of episode 3?

@JodieFostersFurHood do you mean the one that will be broadcast tonight? The second half often Myanmar plot? It's showing on iPlayer for me, I watched some at lunch 😁

Who is the grey haired bloke with the fake tan?

Thanks - I just checked my laptop and it is on there. I meant the one Grievance Culture Part 2 . It isn't on my TV though - don't know why but I can hook up laptop to TV.

As soon as ther was the opening scene in Myanmar I knew it was going to be a bit shit 😅

Today football has again delayed the second part of one of the stunning episodes from this series of Silent Witness.

But due to be shown tomorrow ... so will wait until then with plot spoilers.

Sean Pertwee is the narrator in Masterchef.

We quite enjoyed this episode. A bit of a weak opening with the protesters at the conference, but I guess that was just showing they could get into systems.

I guessed it was the Home Office lady when the chap was bundled into the van.

I’m sure I’ve seen this same plot before, where some expert comes in for a made-up reason but it’s really so they can interfere with the investigation. Probably with Julie Graham, too, which is why it was obvious almost as soon as she was there.

Do I watch too much TV?

I got that vibe from Cara's interpreter the way she was lurking about However , that wasn't part of the story .

diddl · 07/02/2024 18:59

Sean Pertwee is so like his dad!

Sounds so similar also.

CrushingOnRubies · 07/02/2024 21:15

2 things

YI is a number plate which doesn't exist. Because they look similar to 1s

That video is the fakest looking video ever 😂

I don't know where to start about tonight's episode. On what planet, for example, would the victim's widow, May Lwin, be joining the investigation in the Lyell Centre, being allowed to exchange messages with Cornflower and so on? The messages were in English too, so they weren't even using her as an unofficial interpreter. So much tosh. It was so much better when it was centred around forensic pathology, rather than the off-putting macho boxing and them chasing around doing the jobs of the police. I used to love Silent Witness in the earlier days with Sam Ryan. It's all a bit ridiculous now.

IwantToRetire · 08/02/2024 00:53

I think these two episodes really did stretch credibility to the limit. And seemed more like a tick box exercise in the preposterous (spelling?) notion that pathologists are doing everyone else jobs as well as there own.

But also, the most unconvincing part was what was meant to be some serious show of affection / love between Nikki and Jack.

That scene won the wooden acting award over and above all the other contenders from the series.

Does the interpreter just sit about all the time Cara is at work, waiting to communicate for her when it’s something too difficult/ complex for Cara and the newly BSL-gifted Nikki and Jack to manage between them?

Who pays the interpreter’s salary?

We didn’t see her so much in the last two episodes, though.

hopeishere · 08/02/2024 07:33

I got lost that was all wrapped up so quickly and I was tired.

Cap woman from the IT company was actually the baddie?

And indeed such a coincidence the wife and Nikki were at the centre at the same time.

Wasn't the interpreter arranged through uni when Cara did her internship? The interpreter spent all her time eating and drinking.

She doesn't need an interpreter when she's just popping in to see Jack, or they informally ask for her input .

Decafflatteplease · 08/02/2024 08:55

Anybody else totally confused by this week's?

FrostyFogg · 08/02/2024 09:13

I understood it at the time, but I'm going to watch it again because I can't for the life of me remember what happened. @Decafflatteplease

Gagagardener · 08/02/2024 10:06

Was anyone else surprised by the use of the term "John Doe' for an unidentified male body? Perhaps I should be posting that on the current thread about Americanisms.

And another thing: when does Nikki find time to plaiit her hair? It looks a difficult style to achieve so tidily so quickly; do you think Jack helps her? Why does only Velvy have his hair covered when they are dissecting?

Considerations such as these really get in the way of my being able to follow the plot. Absolutely gave up on this one!

LadyEloise1 · 08/02/2024 11:36

I too wondered about paying Cara's interpreter. Is this factored into a business's budget ?

FizzingAda · 08/02/2024 11:59

I've wondered exactly the same thing! It's really hard to do your own hair like that without it looking like a dog's breakfast. Why doesn't she wear a hear covering when bending of the corpse?

feelingalittlehorse · 08/02/2024 12:12

I think I blinked and missed it- how did the Home office lady crash? Was it an accident or on purpose?

I actually preferred these two episodes to others- quite enjoyed the plot, and was more mystery like. Obviously you have to suspend belief for the whole hour, but that’s fine.
