I thought I was odd in not liking public pools @NippyWoowoo so I thought this episode was great.

Pinkittens · 06/12/2022 21:51

No Mum Left Behind is my favourite, it's hilarious, the script is so good.

Clingfilm · 06/12/2022 22:02

Meg and the night out is a belter of an episode.

My 3 fave bits are when Liz and Julia wreck Anne's dad's death mask pin ornament thing, the kid being held up like a puppet and being sick on the window and the bit where Liz confronts some bloke with a laptop in the cafe who's sitting where they normally do and he explains that there's a plug and Liz goes 'of if I'd know there was a plug I'd have brought my fkin ironing' to him. Tickled me.

Twotothreeagain · 06/12/2022 22:09

Another vote for the swimming party - the packed changing room, the plaster and the lost earring!

What's this one about the kid being sick on the window?

The laptop man can be seen in the background after he gets up to move for them, he wanders around because the table he was going to sit at gets taken so he ends up with nowhere to sit and for some reason it proper tickles me!!

when they ruin Anne’s death mask and find glasses to put on to make a new one!! It’s hilarious!

@appleyoudontevenknow when Julia has a party for ivy but she gets sick just before the guests arrive so Julia banishes her upstairs to her bedroom. We see Liz holding ivy up to watch animal man out the window then ivy is sick all over the window and Liz ushers her away !

I think the storyline in S3 about living in the school catchment area/Liz finding out she isnt divorced, isn't over yet. I wonder if her kids Dad lives in the catchment area and they are entiltled to a place? Could this happen? Is this how it works?
I just didn't feel the storyline finished.
I wonder if this might be part of the christmas episode storyline or am I overthinking it?

LadyLothbrook · 07/12/2022 04:57

The parents evening scene when she asks the others to back off, 'it's not the antiques roadshow' was so unexpected for me I was in stitches. She always looks so tired, I can relate.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 07/12/2022 18:12

“Darling when you send photos of the children they go straight into my camera roll … how can I stop that” 🤣

Mothers day episode with Joanna Lumley

Takenoprisoner · 07/12/2022 20:07

I'm laughing reading these.

When meg's daughter suffered racial abuse, the school put up 'helpful' posters...

Meg, reading off a poster: 'Leave race hate at the gate... is that a quote from Nelson Mandela?'

Wow look at old Kev there!!

He was in a cop show set in Brighton years ago and was very dark and brooding in it. Can't remember the name of it for the life of me

lollipoprainbow · 07/12/2022 21:31

Kev was quite attractive in the pilot episode !

Megs first episode when she gets absolutely smashed 🤣

YouLando · 07/12/2022 23:37

It's all brilliant. I think one of my favourite lines is when Julia turns down her big work promotion - "last night... I watched a woman try to order cocaine from Deliveroo" 😂

geraniumsandsunshine · 06/12/2022 20:46

All of them. What I would do for series 4.

Good news. They are doing a Christmas special!

gretchinella · 07/12/2022 23:57

Halloween episode with Kev stressing and Lee Meade.

Favourite line by Liz 'I'll have a cake in a fucking jar' always tickles me.

IMO, Motherland is perfectly cast which makes it work so well.

Meltinthemiddle · 08/12/2022 08:01

I need to rewatch them all to decide! So many good episodes and scenes!

Penguinsaregreat · 08/12/2022 08:18

I need to re watch them all.
The Christmas one is probably my favourite.

100% this. She's just stressed upto the eyeballs with an awful manchild of a selfish twat for a husband and next to no family help. The actor's kids refuse to watch motherland for this reason, she's said in interviews, as they hate seeing their mother that stressed. I see a lot of my stressed self in her. The episode where she screams into towels on the bathroom is just her at her lowest. No wonder she develops a massive crush on Garry with 2 r's.

I feel like that sometimes and I have a fella who pulls his weight. We are both just stressed. The difference between me and Julia is I try not to ask for help and just get on with it, but I do identify with her sometimes and that general feeling of being behind and disorganised.

I did do the quiz and it said I was Meg though and I really, really do not have her lifestyle.

I think I like Amanda the best. She's on another planet and is hilarious. I think the actress plays her well (as I'm very jealous of her long legs). JL was also a brilliant casting as her mum.
