Lots of memories of reading these books at school, those books were well thumbed 😂😂

My Sweet Audrina was so bat shit crazy I'm not sure if I understood it,can someone bullet point it for me please? 😂

I found it quite hard to follow too - I can’t bullet point but the book’s premise is there is no first Audrina. Time has been “shifted” because Audrina was assaulted (raped?) and the crazy father wanted to erase the memory from her, so pretends she has a sister who died.

FortunesFavour · 30/10/2022 13:55

Yikes, from that synopsis it sounds like My Sweet Audrina is even crazier than Heaven or FITA. I didn’t think that was possible!

Theredjellybean · 30/10/2022 15:23

yes my sweet audrina is the craziest of all !

It's absolutely crazy. Clever twist though really, I wasn't expecting it at all. Basically everyone hid the fact that she was attacked and pretended she died, they gave her shock treatment afterwards so she remembered nothing.

I binged watched Origins. I really enjoyed it, Garden of Shadows was by far my favourite book, I loved how it made the FITA and sequels make more sense (in a crazy fucked up way of course though). I don't think in FITA you knew that Chris and Corrine were siblings as opposed to half uncle/niece if I remember correctly. Also the reasons Olivia was so crazy weren't really clear.

I think there was a Ruby prequel book also?

You’re right, it wasn’t made clear that they were brother and sister. It was sort of hinted at, but more in a few comments from the grandmother. It made rereading it more interesting.
There was a ruby sequel about her mother. Shamelessly read everything as a kid, including the ghostwritten stuff. Up until the books suddenly got really short. Think it was the orphans ones? I’ve only watched the terrible cheesy first film of flowers in the attic from the 80s.

I have a soft spot for the melody series but nobody has mentioned that so maybe it’s not as good as I remember!

That's what I thought but I was sure it could y be THAT crazy 🤣 thank you!

I still have mine from waaaay too long ago. I have considered reading them once again but think I'm happy to leave them as something part of my younger self. I don't think I could bring myself to watch a film adaptation.....😳

I liked the Melody series also, I read every series. I didn't like the short ones as much but I have all of them. My elderly great auntie knew I liked them and used to go to lots of charity shops and would send them all to me. It was really odd as she was mostly very distant from the family in most ways and didnt really like anyone but remembered I like them once and always looked out for them.

No, it's online but is the best adaptation by far. 4 long episodes for the Garden of Shadows book, really good casting IMO. It's really sad actually, esp episode 3. Really ties everything up from the main books. Was the best book IMO anyway.

JohnsShirt · 31/10/2022 12:57

I read Melody too!
I cancelled paramount yesterday, only wanted the free trial, I can't justify paying for more TV.

Online where please? I can't remember what Garden of Shadows was, prequel to FITA?

Could someone be kind enough to write the order of the films available on Paramount, I’ve found a few but am missing some.

Garden of Shadows is the prequel to FITA, The Origin is the adaptation of it. I searched for Flowers in the Attic The Origin putlocker and found it.

KillingMeDeftly · 31/10/2022 20:17

Wait, they've filmed the Heaven books too? I liked those better than FITA and Troy was just gorgeous. But he was her uncle!!

I liked Garden of Shadows and noticed one of the mums from DC's school is in the adaptation.

I have NowTV rather than Sky but not sure if Paramount is included in that.

KillingMeDeftly · 31/10/2022 20:19

I just googled the Heaven series and JASON 90210 PRIESTLEY plays Tony Tatterton!!

Flowers in the Attic ( although this one is missing on paramount for me but I think available elsewhere)

Petals on the Wind
If there be Thorns
Seeds of Yesterday

Heaven series:

Heaven
Dark Angel
Fallen Hearts
Gates of Paradise
Web of Dreams

Ruby series:
Ruby
Pearl in the Mist
All that Glitters
Hidden Jewell

There is a 7 day free trial on Amazon prime for paramount

Jason Priestley in Heaven, and Smith, from SATC in the FITA series proper made me laugh!

Thank you, that’s my evenings sorted.
I loved all the books.

VinoDino · 01/11/2022 20:10

So happy I found this thread. Just about to start the last episode of the prequel to FITA on Paramount. Was a lovely day on the sofa!

Think I was slightly too young for the books first time around (loved Judy Bloom though!) but loved the cheesy Heather Graham films.

QueenLagertha · 03/11/2022 22:13

I am so glad I found this thread. However the house is practically fallen down around me as I've been glued to it most of the week (on maternity leave). Pure nostalgia. Still can't believe I read these books when I was still a child 😂 finished the origin prequel today. Brilliant

So that's what became of Jason Priestly Shock
