Honestly,they're so bad they're good 🤣

Lifetime movies, need I say more 😉

Lots of memories of reading these books at school, those books were well thumbed 😂😂

They're on Paramount.

Heaven is having a fit of the vapours as Tony tried to cop a feel, did she forget what she's been doing with his brother ?!!!

Aah, but VA has a funny old approach to incest, t’aint so bad if they’re fit apparently. It’s only her uncle after all, not like it’s her brother or anything - hard stare at FITA 🤨

We've just signed up to sky cinema last week (bizarrely they knocked £14 off our package if we took it out even though we didn't want it?!) . How do I go about getting paramount then please? We have the old style sky box, not Q.
One of my biggest regrets in life is selling, on eBay, my VA collection. I had 20/25 lovely looking black hardbacks, bought from one of those cheaply deal book websites from the 80s/90s and I bloody loved them!!!

Omg Troy's not dead!!!

In the book there's a secret tunnel between Farthy and the cottage.

Anyway, anyone who has watched the Ruby ones, why are the boy twins a different race from their parents and, I think, from each other?
It's not a storyline, they just chose those actors.
It's v weird.

JohnsShirt · 25/10/2022 17:03

Also, another thing, going back to heaven, the doll is shit, the hair is hysterical, I actually laughed out loud.
(In the book she talked about it having a realistic fanny far too much)

I loved the Dawn series!

Another reoccurring theme - evil grandmother who was actually lovely as a child.

Also incest and a dead sister!

ShirleyHolmes · 25/10/2022 17:12

The Dawn series is being filmed Atm!

Excellent.
I'm absolutely loving how weird/crap they all are!
Heaven/Pearl's fringe ffs.

I went out earlier to see an actual cinema film, (My Policeman, helloooooo Harry Styles), but have now resumed my position on the couch.
I've only got the 7 day trial so making the most of it.

I've just found FITA:The Origin. So that's my evening sorted. Maybe 2 evenings Grin

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/10/2022 22:19

I’ve just settled in with FITA and a glass of wine. This is the 2014 film, am I in the right thing?

ShirleyHolmes · 25/10/2022 23:03

Ooh where did you find it?

I need to watch the films!

Seeing this thread has prompted me to listen to the audiobook (I read this series when I was a teenager) and honestly I don't think I can bear it knowing what will happen to poor Cory 😭

LateNightTalking · 26/10/2022 10:26

I've watched the four films on paramount plus now! The last one dragged on a bit and was just sad and a bit rushed at the end.

What do I watch next?!

Fladdermus · 26/10/2022 10:37

Currently confined to barracks due to covid. Exceptionally happy to have discovered this thread.

FlirtyMelons · 26/10/2022 10:46

I loved all these books as a teen. Garden of Shadows was probably my favourite book, I think Heaven was my favourite overall series but loved Ruby series also. So glad I found this thread, how many can I watch in my 7 day free trial lol.

Anguauberwaldironfoundersson · 26/10/2022 10:49

There is a Heaven series?!?

I have found my people!

I used to eat that shit for breakfast when I was a teen. I was totally obsessed with Troy Tatterton and was utterly heartbroken when Logan got Fanny pregnant 🤣

Macbeth8 · 26/10/2022 10:59

Something that was never made clear with the books (IMO) and something I always wanted to know. Read the whole set of books from the age of 12!

Did Cathy conceive a baby with Chris and was it aborted? Its not clear at all. Dr. Pauls sister said she did but Paul denied it vehemently. And so did Chris..
There was never a definitive answer just that Dr Paul said he understood about her and Christopher's relationship and the "joke" fetus that was in his office.
Anyone have any better ideas?

ShirleyHolmes · 26/10/2022 11:42

I thought Cathy had a miscarriage when auditioning for Madam Marisha.

automne · 26/10/2022 12:37

That's true. It was all quite vague. I don't have my books, they'll be in an attic storage box (I'll buy kindle copies I think).

The bleeding and collapse during Cathy's audition was supposed to be something like built up periods, I think Dr P said.

I suppose the question is who do we believe ? Dr Paul (who did lie about some details) or his sister.

Donepaying · 26/10/2022 12:48

I absolutely loved these books when I was a teen - only read 4

Was beyond excited when I saw there were films , oh my god . I do watch some shite but that was unreal .. I couldn't finish them

Neilsfavouritechilli · 26/10/2022 12:52

I have found my people. I so need to watch these. I read all of Flowers In the Attic plus prequel and all of Dawn as a teenager. I don't remember the prequel to that one though.

automne · 26/10/2022 12:57

The thing is I think FITA could be made into a really decent gothic horror-type film if done well. Though they'd struggle with what to do with the later books

The current remakes are mostly hammy with bad acting. Though I shall be watching those I've missed all the same 😀
