Greys anatomy season 19

That makes sense, thank you

SheilaFentiman · 11/05/2023 15:41

Ah, I think that there was a double bill in the US on the Maggie leaving episodes but we got them singly here, but now we should be caught up. So hopefully should be both next week.

SavBlancTonight · 12/05/2023 07:57

I am starting to.find the moralising tedious. Gun violence is absolutely a problem..the abortion issue too. But ffs, it's a medical drama. Can't we have a few more experimental surgeries or fascinating patients?!

ImAvingOops · 12/05/2023 08:09

It is clunky - we got the message from the storyline, we didn't need it hammered home with Owen crying in Teddy's office!

WhyDoesItAlways · 12/05/2023 08:39

I thought station 19 did a good storyline on the abortion issue as it showed bailey, warren and daluca going to a 'clinic' where they use questionable medical qualifications to dissuade mother's from having abortions with a very clear agenda which is a side of the abortion theme in the US I was unaware of so found it really interesting but the stuff they are coving in Grey's is getting mundane and done to death now.

In the last episode when they decided to call all Bailey's crank callers and tell them how awesome she is was just ridiculous. Like it would make any difference to the opinion of the likes of those anti abortion in the name of religion fanatics.

jay55 · 12/05/2023 09:04

I like the abortion storyline, how they go after Bailey, all the shifty tactics. And especially having Addison back.
But agree the phoning the protesters was just too twee and pointless.
I don't think I can cope with them also doing gun violence at the same time. It does push the show too far down the preachy road.
Needs more balance.

I did love Addison telling Amelia to get her shit together.
And the interns dealing with the emergency and Schmitt's reaction.

WhyDoesItAlways · 12/05/2023 09:11

Addison was brilliant. All the way through I was wishing someone would tell Amelia to grow up and stop being so self involved and then along came Addison and she did it brilliantly (although Amelia is so annoying I wish she'd just OD sometimes).

SheilaFentiman · 12/05/2023 09:15

Addison was really good, excellent tough love. I actually do feel a bit for Amelia, she doesn’t really have any friends at the moment. The Winston rant was crap, though.

I agree. But then I think, if I lived in America maybe I wouldn't feel like that. If I actually had to live somewhere with those abortion laws for example, maybe I'd view it differently.

vjg13 · 12/05/2023 22:23

It does now feel very clunky in general, and the scripts designed to send a public information message. Not just the issues with legal abortion and gun violence but the breast cancer patient the week before with the importance of early detection, it feels very preachy.

vjg13 · 12/05/2023 22:25

The idea of phoning the protestors was dire and ridiculous.

Yeah. As if they wouldn’t say “eff off, you support baby killing too!” and slam the phone down.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 13/05/2023 12:47

Link and Jo are driving me mad. Firstly just bloody talk to each other. Secondly I keep forgetting which one of them is pining for the other as they keep changing it. I think she was in love with him and he loved Amelia but then at some point he started pining for her and she no longer seems bothered! Also I hate that you can NEVER just have male/female characters in shows who are best friends and just stay that way and don’t get together. Alex and Mer were the exception to this.

SheilaFentiman · 13/05/2023 12:51

Schmitt and Jo became good friends after disastrous sex - but I know what you mean!

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 13/05/2023 12:59

Yeah but turned out he was gay!!

SheilaFentiman · 13/05/2023 14:50

Well, there is that 😀

SheilaFentiman · 13/05/2023 14:50

Miranda and Richard are good friends.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 14/05/2023 12:34

Yes I did think of them after I posted. But I suppose they met originally as a mentor/mentee relationship and you don’t see them hanging out in Joe’s!

whosaidtha · 18/05/2023 12:54

I quite liked this week's episode- I like a big surgery. Although I would have liked the intern being tired to have ramped up a bit. I think they need more big surgeries and cases. More drama.

AngeloMysterioso · 18/05/2023 15:11

Owen really pissed me off in this week’s episode.

More so than usual, I mean.

I agree but in a way where the audience and writers are thinking the same. Rather than trying to make us like/sympathise with him.

WhyDoesItAlways · 18/05/2023 17:14

Owen was a massive dick although it does seem to have helped Linc's confidence.

I'm getting a bit annoyed with the constant preaching. First the abortion thing which they seem to have magically fixed with kindness, then Owen going on about gun crime last week so assume something will come up about that. Now they're on about poor pay of residents.

Maybe stick to one theme per season so we can see some actual interesting medical cases.

WhyDoesItAlways · 18/05/2023 17:14

Sorry, meant intern pay not residents.

pastabest · 18/05/2023 18:53

In fairness I think the ringing protesters thing might be a bit lost on us Brits culturally because it just wouldn't happen here so we found it implausible and naff.

It is a bit more of a 'thing' in the US to have banks of volunteers for a cause (mostly political) calling people to try and persuade them to vote or think in a particular way. It probably won't have seemed quite so far fetched to US based writers and audiences.

jay55 · 18/05/2023 19:30

Add me to those annoyed at Owen. Was such a bull in a China shop.
And Jo magically going back to surgery on a massive one when she's out of practice.
