In the continued absence of Dr Who and the luscious David Tennant, I am looking forward to Torchwood tonight and the almost as gorgeous Captain Jack. Bring it on!

Ah, that's it! I was getting confused with my hulks there. I knew there was something wrong

You know, if you put a little permed grey wig on Barrowman, he'd look just like an old lady.

slayerette · 17/01/2008 21:42

Desi, it's mean to make me laugh by being cruel about the gorgeous Capt Jack! Every time I see him now, I'm going to picture that wig. What if it blows off when he's standing moodily on a really tall Cardiff building?

slayerette · 17/01/2008 21:44

sparkles, I think there's a child-friendly version at some point. It lasts about 8 minutes post-editing

Desiderata · 17/01/2008 21:46

Oh, I'm sorry slayer. So sorry to have put that image in your mind.

I can't help it. My only consolation is that Captain Jack and George Clooney will get together one day, and all will be well with the world

sparklesandwine · 17/01/2008 21:48

a child friendly version how on earth will that work?!

sparklesandwine · 17/01/2008 21:49

hi desi, how are things with you?

slayerette · 17/01/2008 21:49

Hmmm...

slayerette · 17/01/2008 21:51

I have no idea, sparkles. But I don't think I can bear to find out. I still have traumatic memories of when they tried to show Buffy and Angel before the watershed - the cuts had been done with pruning shears!

sparklesandwine · 17/01/2008 22:05

who was the other bloke in buffy? i always preffered him....

UnquietDad · 18/01/2008 00:48

It's actually "the shy and retiring John Barrowman", to give him his full name from the DW Magazine!

slayerette · 18/01/2008 08:40

Hmm - a leetle touch of sarcasm there, UQD?!

The other bloke was David Boreanaz, sparkles - now playing a much less brooding, swirly coat character on Bones. Alas, the magic is gone...

pukkapatch · 18/01/2008 08:43

i missed this. boo hooo.
since the telly remote has borken, and with it the sky plus system, we dont watch telly properkly anymore... having gotten used to never watching anything live, andonly when we wanted tot, its difficult to remember to actually stick to telly timetables.
booo hoooo
can i watch online anywhere?

slayerette · 18/01/2008 08:46

Torchwood? BBC showed a trailer of it last night advertising that the first ep is available to watch on iplayer...

Don't know what that is or how it works though!

Nymphadora · 18/01/2008 09:32

I loved the 'in' jokes though. The old lady with 'bloody torchwood' and the stop watch!

That 'miss me' line is used in loads of stuff you can't just credit Buffy!

slayerette · 18/01/2008 09:36

I'm sure it is, Nymphadora! It was just the way the entire sequence was structured which was so similar (the final shot of the sequence was identical), and RTD himself has acknowledged what a big influence Joss Whedon is on him and how much he admires Buffy and Angel, so I suppose I just made the most likely connection.

UnquietDad · 18/01/2008 09:39

pukka - BBC iPlayer

go here

UnquietDad · 18/01/2008 09:40

iPlayer all legal and above board in case anyone was wondering!

finknottle · 18/01/2008 09:43

iPlayer doesn't work abroad
Anyone going to tell me the good bits they cut out when I watch the repeat next week?

UnquietDad · 18/01/2008 09:46

for finknottle and others abroad

Not so above-board - ssshh!!!

UnquietDad · 18/01/2008 09:59

Hope it was OK to post that

finknottle · 18/01/2008 10:01

ooooh....no...nothing to see here....move along...

Thanks UQD

finknottle · 18/01/2008 10:02

They are working on an international version of the iPlayer acc to BBC the website.

I shall wait.

UnquietDad · 18/01/2008 10:04

Are they really?

I didn't realise it was a technical issue. I thought it was deliberate, to prevent programmes being seen by non-licence-payers.

Surely it can't be that hard if they want to do it?

finknottle · 18/01/2008 10:18

UQD - they do say it's a "rights' issue" and that the international version will be through BBC Worldwide. We don't get that so I've no idea what would be on it. 24 hour bonnet sagas?

Desiderata · 18/01/2008 10:21

Hi, sparkles Sorry for the delay .. I got watching something on the TV last night.

Things are good with me as I hope they are for you. I must try and catch up with you more on threads!
