In the continued absence of Dr Who and the luscious David Tennant, I am looking forward to Torchwood tonight and the almost as gorgeous Captain Jack. Bring it on!

Are any of them not gay?

SoupDragon · 17/01/2008 13:33

Ianto has to be Bi because he'd hidden his Cyberman girlfriend in the basement in the last series.

oh,had forgotten about her - they're probably all bi,actually...or megasexual or something...

SoupDragon · 17/01/2008 13:37

Half converted Cyberman or Capt Jack... Hmmmmm [ponders]

Only just joined this thread but need to ask all you Buffy fans -

does anyone else watch Torchwood and think 'Ooh, that seems familiar - wonder if Joss Whedon's been given any credit for that bit of dialogue/action/plot?'

The opening scene yesterday - gang struggling to manage without their leader; in dire peril; leader turns up, saves the day, turns to camera with knowing smile - 'Miss me?' - lifted directly from an early ep of Buffy. I know Russell T. is a big fan, but it's more than a bit cheeky!

PortAndLemon · 17/01/2008 17:31

Trouble is, every time he nicks something from Buffy (and lets face it, the whole concept of a tormented immortal hero taking on the Forces of Badness is RTD attempting to do Angel) it just reminds you how much better Joss Whedon did it.

slayerette · 17/01/2008 17:35

I know and I'm trying to love Torchwood because I lurrrrvvve John Barrowman but it just makes me miss Joss's stuff more - the writing on his shows hasn't been matched by anything since (except House but my Hugh-Laurie-plays-misanthropic-doctor obsession needs a thread all to itself )

I think Torchwood Season 2 is opening in the US (on BBC America?) next week, Califrau. At least, I saw a trailer online that claimed it was.

Likeasow · 17/01/2008 20:00

Are there any Buffy threads on MN?

I hated it. I honestly thought it was a pile of dross. I know Bannerman's gay, but that was way OTT for my taste.

slayerette · 17/01/2008 21:16

Bannerman, Desi? Isn't he the Incredible Hulk?

slayerette · 17/01/2008 21:18

Likeasow - maybe we should start a Buffy thread? There seem to be some fans around. We could intellectually discuss the genius that is Joss Whedon.

And also the smouldering sex godliness that is James Marsters...

Likeasow · 17/01/2008 21:24

I am up for it - spent my second pregnancy watching the entire Buffy catalogue and then all of Angel too...

slayerette · 17/01/2008 21:30

You would not believe how many times I have watched them...

Desiderata · 17/01/2008 21:34

Slayer

John Bannerman is the name of the actor who plays Captain Jack.

Or Captain Crack, as it goes ...

[doh]

slayerette · 17/01/2008 21:38

It's John Barrowman

slayerette · 17/01/2008 21:39

Buffy fans check in here!

sparklesandwine · 17/01/2008 21:39

I missed it [grrr]

is it repeated this week? if so when and what time?
