In the continued absence of Dr Who and the luscious David Tennant, I am looking forward to Torchwood tonight and the almost as gorgeous Captain Jack. Bring it on!

The Daniella wotsit episode with Tosh wsn't bad. Although they could have done more snogging.

I remember about 5 years ago "Holby" was building up to this big lesbian kiss and it was meant to be a huge thing. I happened to catch the last five minutes of the programme it was in before something else and I was OUTRAGED - I almost wrote to Points of View. "Dear BBC. How disgusting! Call that a lesbian kiss? I've sen hotter stuff on the bus! It was barely a peck!! They didn't even use tongues!!!"

PortAndLemon · 16/01/2008 23:59

Suspect strongly that the "cut his hand off ... no that would detonate the bomb" exchange was added in at the last minute, after the whole thing was scripted and filmed, when a crew member innocently asked "why don't they just cut his hand off?" and they needed to cover that somehow. Because it made no sense at all (mind you, this is Torchwood, I suppose).

UnquietDad · 17/01/2008 00:00

It did sound like voice-over dialogue, P&L - you're right!

SorenLorensen · 17/01/2008 09:51

Anyone care to guess how they are going to edit this to appeal to a family audience (because they are - the Radio Times told me)? I imagine the 'family-friendly episode' will be about 10 minutes long.

UnquietDad · 17/01/2008 10:00

According to the RT, the repeat (7pm next Wed, then Thurs) - is the same length! I imagine the cuts will consist of trims rather than whole scenes - the blood, the smack as the guy hits the tarmac, etc. Interested to know if they deem the boy-boy snogging to be suitable for a cut.

CatIsSleepy · 17/01/2008 10:02

hmm

I was a little....disappointed
didn't think much of the story-line and wasn't that keen on capn john

will most likely carry on watching though

re the boy-snogging dh harumphed and said "no-one wants to see that"
no dear only half of Mumsnet...

SoupDragon · 17/01/2008 10:13

Capt John needed to sort his hair out. Something more sticky up (spiky even ) and less carefully set waviness.

Have to say that as he strode on screen in those boots I went "Yessssss!" though.

Who cares about plot and script anyway?

captainmummy · 17/01/2008 11:01

I agree - they need a blonde, but preferably spike! Didn't anyone notice tat he looks a bit, well, old? I suppose he must be about 10 years older than in Bufffy? And is he gay? Or bi? Everyone in Torchwood seems to be bi.

SorenLorensen · 17/01/2008 11:07

UD - I'm going to have to watch it now (sans kids, I think) to find out! Maybe they will just have those moving black boxes like they put over rude bits

captainmummy · 17/01/2008 11:08

Is it being repeated? I did set the dvd but it has a mind of it's own...

bethoo · 17/01/2008 11:09

watched it last night only because i heard that my love Spike was in it or James Marsters. i love the Spike character, sexy and moody, much better than Angel (drifting off track here.
it was a shock at first as completely unexpected. but was nice!
will wathcit only to watch Captain John!! and when he was in Buffy he was the oldest cast member beingin his 40s so looks good for mid 40s i think!! i would not kick him out of bed for farting!

SorenLorensen · 17/01/2008 11:10

Sanitised version next Wednesday (7pm) then Thursday? (According to UnquietDad above)

goingfor3 · 17/01/2008 11:10

It was terrible, I had to switch it off after 15 mins!

UnquietDad · 17/01/2008 11:13

Yes, ep. 1 Wed 7pm, then Thurs 7pm from then on.

PortAndLemon · 17/01/2008 11:19

captainmummy - I think part of the back story when they introduced Jack into Doctor Who^ was that he was from a time in the future when everyone was bisexual. So presumably that goes for Captain John as well.

Cappuccino · 17/01/2008 11:20

he can't help getting older poor sod

Notyummy · 17/01/2008 11:31

Are they repeating the uncut version at all? Forgot to set the sky plus.....

Fubsy · 17/01/2008 11:37

Ive checked next weeks RT and cant see any uncut repeats. No doubt it will eventually roll up on BBC3, but thats not much help at the moment.

I think ive recorded it on my DVD recorder, but I havent checked it yet.

So if the cut repeat is a big disappointment I might be able to copy it and send it on to anyone who wants to see snog, Jack asking Ianto for a date etc!

UnquietDad · 17/01/2008 11:40

notyummy - iPlayer?
go here

Notyummy · 17/01/2008 11:47

Thanks!

Housemum · 17/01/2008 12:21

How can anyone fancy Owen? His mouth reminds me of Beaker off the Muppets...

What a shame John Barrowman is gay... There is just SOMETHING about him - even though my rational brain says that he is just an annoying poser, totally up himself. I'll just blame my postnatal hormones on the rampage...

SoupDragon · 17/01/2008 12:49

DS2 (6) heard this advertised on Radio 1 last night. He kept going on and on about wanting to see Capt John snogging Capt Jack [sigh] I'm not sure whether to let him watch the sanitised repeat or not!

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/01/2008 13:10

forget Captain John, I wanna see Captain Jack & Ianto action...

bethoo · 17/01/2008 13:23

so is Ianto gay?

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/01/2008 13:24

I'd say
