In the continued absence of Dr Who and the luscious David Tennant, I am looking forward to Torchwood tonight and the almost as gorgeous Captain Jack. Bring it on!

Oh my God that was brilliant!!!

turquoise · 16/01/2008 21:51

Oh that was fun. I am

Pixel · 16/01/2008 21:54

So I'm the only one who wasn't impressed then?

Domesticgodless · 16/01/2008 21:54

agree. I feel strangely sated and yet I want more James.
Looks like he is back next week from the teaser at the end?

Likeasow · 16/01/2008 21:54

aah - so good to see JM again - he was great - quite Spike -like - the strut, the accent and the sexy badness.

Domesticgodless · 16/01/2008 21:55

Pixel- what were your criticisms

James aside (still ) I thought it was a general improvement on last series. Taking itself a bit less seriously.

Likeasow · 16/01/2008 21:56

There were rumours that Joss Whedon might write on Dr Who or TW - anyone know anything more about that?

WideWebWitch · 16/01/2008 21:56

Liked the opening sequence culminating with very cool Jack v much

Greensleeves · 16/01/2008 21:58

I thought it was horseshit. Prophylactic methodone for Doctor Who addicts.

ronshar · 16/01/2008 21:59

Stop it. My Sky box has decided to go on strike. I had it set to record and everything and I have missed the whole thing.
It's not fair. I am crying.

Dottydot · 16/01/2008 21:59

It was just seeing JM again (sigh - HUGE Spike fan). I've gone all giggly and happy... Thought John Barrowman was bobbins but then I've never seen Torchwood before and don't watch Dr Who.

Shall be watching from now on though to get my JM fix...

FlameNFurter · 16/01/2008 22:00

Oooh that was good TV.

There really isn't enough of Mr Marsters in the world.

psychomum5 · 16/01/2008 22:01

all from the 'spike' fix.

wonder what it is about spike that we love so well tho......the strut, the sexy badness, the voice???(to borrow from likeasow)

the whole thing

Dottydot · 16/01/2008 22:03

God how sad are we needing our Spike fixes?!

Pixel · 16/01/2008 22:03

Nothing wrong with the acting and effects, just disappointed with the writing. All that stuff at the end, for goodness sake if you were handcuffed to someone who had tried to kill you all and was about to blow up. What would you do? Jump in the rift with him or cut his arm off and push him in? Or shoot him, get the key, throw his body in.
Sorry, I might enjoy it better when I watch it again (I am a fan-my pony is called Torchwood) but I found it very irritating just now!

Likeasow · 16/01/2008 22:04

the jawline? that pointy chin cuteness? he is just to naughty isn't he....such a bad bad boy
did you see him in Smallville? I missed all but a few minutes of that.

psychomum5 · 16/01/2008 22:06

I didn't take much notice of the story.....was just all 'spike' and comparing 'captain john' with spike.

but is not some programmes just all about the eye candy, rather than the story???

Domesticgodless · 16/01/2008 22:06

the cheekbones. The cheekiness in general

And he has got that edge of camp. He is perfect.

Dottydot · 16/01/2008 22:08

He is perfect. Sigh...

But I would have cut his arm off as well...

Likeasow · 16/01/2008 22:08

yes the edge of camp - I like that.
always quite bad hair though - in reality you would be a bit embarressed by the hair if he was your man.....

FlameNFurter · 16/01/2008 22:09

He is too pretty to kill though... tis the cheekbones.

I'm not sure DH knew about the Spike love so much... He seemed a bit , he may have thought it was limited to Seth Green but I doubt it.

I think he may be catching onto my Wentworth Miller thing though

I don't care what the storyline was like

UnquietDad · 16/01/2008 22:14

It wasn't that good. Full of the "trying too hard" syndrome which the first series suffered from. This may be heresy, but James Marrrrrrsters can't act very well. He mumbled everything and looked pretty wooden a lot of the time. Oho, is that a gay innuendo? Oho, I'l say it again in case you missed it the first time. Sigh. All the boy-boy snogging and repartee got very tedious as well.

He's right about one thing, though. They need a blonde.

Pixel · 16/01/2008 22:14

I just can't fancy people when I'm exasperated by their stupidity! I'm too busy shouting at the telly .

UnquietDad · 16/01/2008 22:15

pixel/dotty - they did say (just before rushing out of the Woodybase (whatever it's called)) "cut his hand off" "no that would detonate the bomb"
