I read an article about Michael Eavis that said he pays himself £60k and gives £2million to charity from every Festival.

the80sweregreat · 28/06/2022 18:07

I did laugh when I saw a photo of the one car space which is reserved solely for Michael Eavis ( was taken in 2019)
His farm, his space !!

A percentage - will be on their website I’m sure.
im sure Beyoncé’s outgoings are eye watering- musicians / crew / backing as well as costume, management, chef, guru etc etc. Billie Eilish has only 2 people on stage with her and no rhinestone encrusted costumes, excellent video - but looks like a very lean (profitable) operation by comparison to eg Diana Ross / beyonce

Billie Eilishs set was practically word for word what she did at the O2, only at the O2 there was lots of dramatic staging and lighting, lasers going up and down over the crowd, at one point she was up in a cherry picker over the crowd, definitely some serious money spent on her set and quite a few crew needed.Apparently her mum and dad design manage the whole thing.

He’s quite religious Baptist I think? Definitely not in it for the money, he was going to retire the year his wife died, but wanted to keep going rather than stop without her.

Didn't realise Sugababes played a set in the Avalon tent like McFly, also not broadcast on BBC unfortunately. Suppose they can't film every stage.

the80sweregreat · 28/06/2022 18:28

Emily Eavis does a lot of it now. I've seen a few documentaries about her and her dad and it is hinted that she is now in charge of a lot of the logistics etc.
She seems nice , very down to earth.

goldfinchonthelawn · 28/06/2022 18:59

Kate Bush is the legend I'd want to see.

An 80s stage would be great - Bronski Beat/Communards, Tears for Fears, REM, Blondie

Jellykat · 28/06/2022 18:59

Grrrrr!, my boss works at Glasto every year, she was at the Macca gig.. After the majority of the audience had left, Macca came out and did more songs with Dave Grohl !! She couldnt believe it! (big Dave fan too)
Of course it wasnt filmed for iplayer Sad

Rhaenys · 28/06/2022 21:29

I’m gutted they haven’t put The Libertines set on iPlayer as they were playing on one of filmed stages but I missed it.

I saw a few lives sets am currently working my way through the sets I’m interested in on iPlayer. Favourites so far have been Saint Etienne and Jamie T.

I would love an 80s and 90s stage too. I recently saw an 80s music festival advertised. I think it was called something like Throwback Festival or Retro Festival?

Enjoyed Crowded House

Who was the little boy, presumably one of the band's son

AlecTrevelyan006 · 29/06/2022 21:02

Neil Finn's sons (Liam and Elroy) now play in Crowded House. The little boy was one of thiers (not sure which).

SequinsandStilettos · 25/06/2023 20:02
