How about Debbie Harry for the legend slot? What's she up to these days?

I saw Blondie play the other stage a few years ago (can't remember the exact year) and I'm sad to say her voice is another that's going.
My dream legends slot would be ABBA but I don't think they'd ever do it.

I wonder who they are lining up in the legend slot for next year? Anyone got any suggestions?

Shania Twain?

What qualifies someone to play in the legends slot? I noticed Kylies done it.. Madonna?

Would Taylor swift be more likely to headline than be in this slot?

I was holding out for Yellow Submarine.

@Sparklingbrook I was holding out for we all stand together with Rubert bear or the frog song as I used to call it as a child in the 80s. It was my favourite song in 1986 my dad bought me the single LP. Would've made Glasto for me.

I'm not entirely sure of entry requirements TBH. I would think of Taylor Swift who would headline but be too young to be a legend. Even though in some people's eyes she is a legend.

If he had of sung that it would have been great, and everyone would have joined in. Grin

I just couldn’t watch it stood it for about 25 minutes then switched it off. Half of the singers sound dreadful live. I cannot see what people get out of it. 😂

Who did you watch, 25 minutes is nothing? You can go in Iplayer and choose something from Glastonbury you might like. Confused

PM could never sing so no hope at 80. Much preferred PSB and Billie Eilish.

RaininSummer · 27/06/2022 22:43

I went through a whole range of emotions watching Paul Mcartney. Sadness at the loss of his voice and amazement at his stamina. Very moving seeing the Beatles shots behind and singing glory days with Bruce. Some of the tunes seemed a bit lame but it felt like a farewell from one of music's trail blazers and not a dreary old git at all.

wentworthinmate · 27/06/2022 22:46

Absolutely.

jaynecooper · 27/06/2022 22:46

Paul of course. I thought he was just amazing. Also liked Years and Years. Billie Eilish. Noel except that every word he spoke to the audience was a swear word which was slightly boring.

Eh?? What absolute nonsense.

CTPT · 27/06/2022 22:51

Bruce Springsteen for legend slot?

Totally agree. I think his choice of songs to end was very poignant. It feels like a goodbye.

The best act? Shock Who else did they see?

Not sure yet as too tired and sleeping it all off. Not blown away by Paul and not interested in PSB but loved Noel Gallagher. I despair.

Sparklingbrook · 27/06/2022 23:03

@SwedishEdith there really is no hope for the youth of today. At work I seem to be surrounded by Harry Styles fanatics. I just have to do my best. Grin

Just been on tour throughout U.K. and Europe. Playing US dates in August.

Ah ok. She still has it then?

dropthevipers · 27/06/2022 23:44

The obvious next choice for the legends spot are-Sparks!

VivienneDelacroix · 28/06/2022 01:29

Spice Girls for the legends slot?
Madonna would be good, but I can't see it happening.
Cyndi Lauper!

the80sweregreat · 28/06/2022 05:41

Friends dad saw Blondie around ten years ago in a smaller venue and people walked out as they refused to play any old 70s ( well known ) songs and just the new ones. Plus her voice wasn't that great either he said.
If they tried that at Glastonbury it would be a disaster, especially as they do have a lot of old hits to choose from.

ShirleyJackson · 28/06/2022 06:41

The Eagles? I’m not a huge fan, but I reckon they’d go down a storm.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 28/06/2022 07:43

ABC
Bananarama
Bryan Ferry
Human League
New Order
Midge Ure
OMD

suckingonchillidogs · 28/06/2022 08:04

I'd love to see Fleetwood Mac headline (or in the legends slot) but only if they let Lindsey Buckingham back, they're just not the same without him.

Or Alice Cooper for legend !

augustusglupe · 28/06/2022 08:24

Bruce Springsteen is too big for the legend slot isn't he!?
Me & DH were talking about this on Sun. Billy Ocean would be good, if he hasn't done it already. He tours regularly, has great energy and can still sing in tune...which is obviously a bonus..
We saw Gladys Knight a few years ago and her voice is still fantastic. However she was only on stage an hour so...🤷🏻‍♀️

AlecTrevelyan006 I love your choices!! I'd love Bryan Ferry/Roxy to do it.
