Macca got everyone talking so the old thread is full! Here's part two still lots of good stuff to come on Sunday 😃

@lollipoprainbow yes! She just seemed, as her name suggests, so confident in herself, I liked the music and the show they put on. I don't really have the words to describe how I felt about it to be honest.

lugeforlife · 26/06/2022 09:31

I persevered through the whole thing yesterday. Last 40 mins (basically after Bruce) was good. I'd be interested in what it was like there as have seen a couple of comments suggesting he lost the crowd until that point too.

Still need to track down Foals. V v excited for PSB this evening but they aren't on til 10 are they and I have to be up early.

I usually love the Legends slot but I am not a fan of Diana Ross. Mine you I wasn't a fan of Lionel and he was incredible

GoofyIsACow · 26/06/2022 09:33

We watched it all, it definitely picked up after Dave and Bruce, we got what we were waiting for then. It was bloody slow going up until that point but he was incredible for 80!

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 09:35

Foals were so good !
Noel rocked yesterday
The last part of Macca wasnt too bad in the end .
Thanks for the thread !!

First review is in.

it definitely had some ups and downs. Dave Grohl coming out rescued things a bit. But the star of the whole show was Abe the drummer who is my new favourite person. At times it was like Abe the Drummer featuring Macca. Grin

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 09:38

We shall get the gang back together for Diana Ross , legends spot ! Let's hope she has ditched the dress she wore for the jubilee
Self esteem was great yesterday too!

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 09:39

Shout out to Abe here too!..
His band are good .

GoofyIsACow · 26/06/2022 09:39

Abe the drummer was amazing! Loved him!

forgot to mention Noel, I’ve never been a massive gallagher fan, not dislike just not bothered… he was brilliant! I would go and watch them now! Also liked Haim.

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 09:40

Abe 😍

Glastonbury (from your sofa) what have you enjoyed so far part 2
Samcro · 26/06/2022 09:50

watched a bit of PM, he was dire. but worth it to see Dave and Bruce.

Thelikelylass · 26/06/2022 09:50

loved
Olivia Rodrigo
St Vincent
Self Esteem
Gabriels

refreshing to see many female artists this year.
Noel Gallagher was very dull but I do like him.
Megan Thee Stallion meandered on a bit, not enough melody to her stuff

Looking forward to Charlie xcx

Wish Lil Nas X had played, that would be a fabulous set.

Samcro · 26/06/2022 09:50

@Sparklingbrook waves
yes the drummer was amazing

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 09:53

Where's Ringo in all this? Obviously we love Abe but has he given it all up?

BetteDavies · 26/06/2022 09:54

At 80 Macca was excellent. He can sing the songs of his own choosing - he has nothing to prove. He was on stage as Macca not The Beatles. He played tracks from Wings (the band he set up with Linda), and some newish stuff - why not. I have never been a big fan but to go on tour at 80 not just be wheeled out for the Jubilee - respect. Also to include Dave and Bruce was inspired - value for money.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 26/06/2022 09:58

I went to bed during Hey Jude. Mixed feelings - yes he’s a legend, an incredible back catalogue… but, the voice has gone (no surprise at 80). Telling the crowd that you know which songs they do and don’t like but that you don’t care makes you sound like a bit of a dick IMVHO.
Looking forward to PSB today.

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 09:58

I get that he has nothing to prove, he doesn't need the money either. His voice isn't great, but his band were compensating for that.

I thought that too. Saying he was playing them anyway. Nice.

What time are PSB on?

AvonCallingBarksdale · 26/06/2022 10:02

Absolutely he has nothing to prove!
The Beatles wouldn’t have got far if they’d told audiences that they didn’t care whether they liked what they were hearing or not 😂 (disclaimer: I am tired and hungover and would have liked wall-to-wall Beatles songs 😁)

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 10:04

I was holding out for Yellow Submarine.

missdemeanors · 26/06/2022 10:06

I was getting messages from friends who were there. They were further back in the crowd and said you couldn't even hear Paul's voice, the music drowned it out. Seems like we got more from the sofa, albeit a fairly weak and wavery sound.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't really expect anything else from an 80 year old, and fair play to him for getting up and doing his thing- but I'd have been very disappointed to actually be at the festival.

the80sweregreat · 26/06/2022 10:09

To be fair to him, he is still making albums and touring so why not do the some of the new stuff for the real hardcore fans ? I still think it was a bad decision, personally , but it was his set to and nobody will tell an 80 year old what to do !!
Let alone Paul McCartney !!
The end was good , Abe has a new fan and Noel Gallagher was brilliant too!

Sparklingbrook · 26/06/2022 10:10

It was as if Paul's mic was turned way down, you could really tell when DG started singing, he seemed so loud in comparison.

FootontheHeartbreak · 26/06/2022 10:17

I thought the Mike wasn’t working properly. Even when M was speaking his voice was very quiet.
I only watched half his set as it was a bit painful really. Where can I watch it now if not on iplayer?
also could someone link to the first thread please. I can’t find it.

He moves like a much younger man and can certainly play his instruments. His voice is just not up to it. If he’d chosen different songs with this in mind , it would have worked better. Who is going to tell him the truth though? I bet not even his wife.

GylesBrandrethNewJumper · 26/06/2022 10:20

Loving Abes work

faffadoodledo · 26/06/2022 10:21

He's EIGHTY. And up late. And those electric guitars are heavy beasts. Not the hugest McCartney fan but blimey I saw some of the faces in that crowd and you could tell they were seeing something special.
