I know I’m very late to the party and I’m sure there are other threads though I couldn’t see one. But bloody hell! It’s absolutely incredible. Heard there was a new season starting so went to the beginning to see if it was any good. I didn’t like League of Gebtleman so didn’t have high hopes. Binged the first season in a couple of evenings and can’t wait for more. Anyone else love it? Does it stay as great through s2 and beyond?

Thanks @TinselSniffer yes a warning beforehand would be nice

but guess that would spoil the the surprise if that’s the right word

I don’t like the hanging. The swinging. The bulging eyes

too many memories

apart from that

I didn’t understand the story or the usual twist

123woop · 04/01/2023 22:31

I didn't enjoy it - I too was blindsided by the final scene and it seemed quite unnecessary imho 🤷‍♀️ I know the church where it was filmed though!

After a really long and exhausting day I said to DH we should get some takeaway and watch some Inside No 9, I’d only seen a few. “Let’s watch the 12 Days of Christine,” I said. “It’s supposed to be one of the best ones.”

Fuck me, that was not the comedy viewing we expected Shock

One of the best things ever on TV.
Other notables to me are Black Mirror- San Junipero and an old Talking Heads Production with Patricia Routledge called A Woman of No Importance.

TinselSniffer · 04/01/2023 20:16

I'm sorry to hear that @Blondeshavemorefun. Flowers

Hanging is featured in so many films and tv programs and I always think to myself that many people watching will be distressed by seeing it. I haven't been affected personally but it happens to so many families, I think some kind of warning should be given before tv & films that depict it.

I completely agree with this. I have a complete phobia of hanging which means I am horribly affected by what might seem to be quite a simple, ungory scene (ie Joni rabbit). Should I avoid this episode completely as I love inside no. 9 but can't face the nightmares/flashbacks?!

cinnamonpearl · 05/01/2023 01:39

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/01/2023 19:29

Slightly behind as have so much tv to watch

So just seen

I didn't get it and usually like no 9

Though I didn't expect /like the hanging

I don't like hanging scenes on tv as dh hung his self so when not expecting it , it comes as a bit of a shock

And I'm really sorry for your loss. I understand, it's horrific. I wish you all the best for the New Year. Xxx

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2023 09:39

Thank you @cinnamonpearl it’s getting on for 12yrs this year. You don’t get over it but you learn to live with it

you have to or will go insane with the whys

I have a new life. Had to make one. Met a lovely man who is now mr blondes and we have our precious miracle daughter after many ivf

But I don’t like seeing hanging scenes

sound alike something similar has happened to you to effect you 💐

cinnamonpearl · 05/01/2023 18:31

Thank you to you @Blondeshavemorefun, solidarity. It's utterly the worst thing, and I find it so much worse than any amount of horror and gore. The finality of it, kills me. (No pun intended) so happy to hear you are happy and thriving, I wish you nothing but the best. X

Paul2023 · 18/02/2023 10:50

I’m a late comer to this. I watched one or two episodes when it first came on.

Now started to binge watch from series 1. Really clever. Never really watched ‘League of gentlemen’ but I think Inside no 9 is really clever.

The one where the teacher let a homeless man into his life, was genius.

And the one where 6 people get on a sleeper train in France. Jack Whitehall played a part in this one. Had me in stitches.

ForestLilac · 18/02/2023 12:31

Can I find a list of the distressing ones to avoid? I don’t like the horror, or creepy, or hanging ones but I want to see the other ones. I think my favourite was the moving day one that kept leaping back half an hour in time, very clever! And the silent one from the first series.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 18/02/2023 13:41

@ForestLilac there will be more but off the top of my head avoid The Harrowing, The Riddle of the Sphinx, and The Devil of Christmas.

ForestLilac · 18/02/2023 14:08

That’s a good start @ZoyaTheDestroyer thanks.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/02/2023 16:18

@ForestLilac

Ones I'd avoid if I didn't like the distressing or scary ones :

The Harrowing as above ( but I quite livel The Devil of Christmas and Riddle of the Sphinx)

Seance Time is a bit creepy
Dead Line maybe but the main impact was it was live
Wise Owl

Best Ones though ( in no order and this is my choices )

Twelve Days of Christine
Cold Comfort
Empty Orchestra
Bernie Cliftons Dressing Room
Loves Great Adventure
Lip Service

The rest of them I'd watch again (and again Grin ) but these are my Go-To .
I didn't like Series 6 except Lip Service .

And I love love love Steve Pemberton !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/02/2023 16:19

but I quite livel - liked

Goldpaw · 18/02/2023 18:50

My favourite episodes are:

A Quiet Night In
Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room
Misdirection

I didn't like The Harrowing because it felt a bit of a weak plot and ending, although it was unpleasant.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/02/2023 21:06

A lot of them are scary /thrillers

I'm fine with that

That's the whole point of no 9

I just don't like hanging - but that's down to me finding dh who hung his self

Tbh think it was only that episode out of all of the series's that I didn't like

Sporty2022 · 18/02/2023 23:00

Just watched 12 days of Christine. OMG- superb yet harrowing! I really didn’t see the ending coming until very near the end.

I liked the fact the home was a flat in a tower block, rather than a standard house in suburbia. It just made it seem more real.

Brilliant story telling.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/02/2023 23:48

I think 12 days of Christine was one of their best

Very clever

Ans very Christmassy

browbrows · 18/02/2023 23:50

I love the one on the sleeper train with jack Whitehall! So funny!

ForestLilac · 19/02/2023 00:02

I’m so sorry Blondes, that must be awful for you.

12 Days of Christine made me cry.

The call centre was good.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 19/02/2023 07:21

ForestLilac · 18/02/2023 14:08

That’s a good start @ZoyaTheDestroyer thanks.

Thought of one more - avoid Private View if you dislike slasher horror / gore. Also agree with pp that Wise Owl is very very dark.

I love them all but those are the ones to avoid if you dislike overt horror.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/02/2023 09:10

ForestLilac · 19/02/2023 00:02

Thank you @ForestLilac

As I said it was almost 12yrs ago

You learn to cope. Have to

And I have a new life I've made for myself - I'm happy

But doesn't mean I don't miss dh or wonder how diff life would be

If that makes sense

Pallisers · 01/04/2023 22:59

So sorry Blondershavemorefun. That must have been so hard.

OP, thank you for this thread. I had never heard of Inside No 9 but it is on britbox where I am in the US - started binging it last night. I loved Quiet Night In. Will avoid the darker ones though.
