I know I’m very late to the party and I’m sure there are other threads though I couldn’t see one. But bloody hell! It’s absolutely incredible. Heard there was a new season starting so went to the beginning to see if it was any good. I didn’t like League of Gebtleman so didn’t have high hopes. Binged the first season in a couple of evenings and can’t wait for more. Anyone else love it? Does it stay as great through s2 and beyond?

I thought the Mr King episode was excellent, funny and horror-filled both, not at all easy to pull off. A great homage to the Wicker Man. One of their best ( they,re ALL the best!)
Still haven’t found the hare, though. They reveal where it is in the subsequent podcast.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/04/2022 09:50

Avoided thread till now

e2 was rubbish. Not their usual cleverness

all the pics of penis’s was boring

didn’t think much of it at all !!

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 30/04/2022 16:35

Mixed bag of opinions here then, re episode 2.

I really enjoyed it. I didn’t work out the twist until it hit me square in the face with the superglue bit. I’m not bothered/triggered by all the ‘penis stuff’, and I could see exactly why it was in there - worked beautifully I thought.

It’s incredible that these are only half an hour, and pack so much in - especially so much that is different to pretty much all previous episodes.

estellacruella · 02/05/2022 04:00

it always amazes me how clever steve and reece are. i always watch the episodes for a second time and its brilliant all the little subtle clue and seeds being planted in your head that u dont realise at the time of a first watch.

Lottapianos · 02/05/2022 08:51

'Another favourite - call centre. Impeccable dramatic timing.'

'Cold Comfort'. One of my favourites. The CCTV set up makes it extra chilling. Theres this really cold sense of dread all the way through the episode, and the twist goes right through you. Love it

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 02/05/2022 11:04

Just caught up. I really liked it. Mark Gatiss is very keen on folk horror and it follows that Pemberton and Shearsmith would use the genre. I don’t really know why you’d watch Inside No 9 if you strongly dislike horror. Every series so far has had at least one overt horror episode. At the very least you need to take the ‘disturbing scenes’ warning seriously.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/05/2022 10:41

I can’t find it this week

as I said I’ve been rewatching and think s2&3 the best

love the way they have well known actors in it eveey week

think it must be a boost on cv is acted on no 9 😂

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 04/05/2022 10:44

No episode tonight. It’s been bumped for the football. Back next week.

YukoandHiro · 04/05/2022 10:45

I can't handle it. It's too creepy for me

Madeintowerhamlets · 09/05/2022 23:01

Was wondering where the latest episode was! Bloody football…

CoralBells · 10/05/2022 15:21

Was it bumped last week too for something?

DasAlteLeid · 10/05/2022 15:48

Loved the Wicker Man homage, I love that film so spotted a few references (‘you did it beautifully (Tubbs 😅)’, plus there’s nothing creepier than weird olde English pagan stuff… so many hilarious bits with the cleaner and Michael Jackson references.

disclaimer - I have a very dark sense of humour!

Found this episode infinitely more sophisticated and interesting than Ep1, which was a bit of a filler one for me alongside quite a few last series.

personal faves - Once Removed (genius), Love’s Great Adventure, Riddle of the Sphinx, Tom and Gerri, the Harrowing, The Trial of Elizabeth Gadge… an eclectic selection 😅

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/05/2022 23:47

@ZoyaTheDestroyer you were correct about the hare in the shrine

this article here tells you where they are are over the series’s

some I’ve spotted easily. Some not at all

just rewatching s4 e6 where we met the hare and it’s curse 🙀😂

Arcadia · 12/05/2022 09:23

What did people think about this weeks?
It was a clever idea but didn't quite pull me in as much as usual.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 12/05/2022 09:47

Yes, this weeks was clever but it also made my brain hurt.

I need to listen to the podcast and their explanations. Plus I forgot to look for the hare again. It was that horrible dark scandi background that makes me feel the need to turn the volume up - like that's going to help me see better - the human brain is a weird thing!

I agree. I enjoyed it & worked out where it was going early doors (just a lucky guess though), but it took a second viewing to fully appreciate how clever and innovative it was.

And that’s no bad thing in my view. A programme so multi-layered that you need 2+ views to take it in, suits the streaming/on demand generation (i.e we’d be stuffed if we could only watch it once, on live telly).

Saucery · 12/05/2022 20:47

I loved this week’s episode, but I’ve read a fair bit of ‘self published shitty Kindle exclusive’ rubbish as well as some brilliant crime fiction, so I appreciated the Inception-like twists and layers. I’d watch Sophie Okonedo read the phone book tbh. Barnabas’s unspecified neurodiversity was superbly signposted as fictional by the author calling him ‘Rainman’ in a dismissive way and Siobhan Redmond turning up in a bad wig hinted strongly at the end twist.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/05/2022 09:56

I didn’t think it was that good

e1 was good. Didn’t like last weeks or this

hope they havnt ran out of ideas

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 13/05/2022 11:12

I have to agree blondes

I just liked it. I didn’t love it.

However Sophie is just the boy dog’s baws and is hugely watchable.

Is it wrong to think it wasn’t dark enough? It just wasn’t for me.

Not the dark you described my lovely rainbow friend 🌈 - just that I like my 9 to make me a touch uncomfy. I’m maybe a bit odd.

Roll on next week though 🙂

Saucery · 13/05/2022 13:58

I had a stomach flip of dread when Barnabas called the little black cat over……

estellacruella · 19/05/2022 09:55

what did we all think of this weeks episode?

JoyDivisionOvenGlovesx · 19/05/2022 10:54

I had to watch this week’s in two chunks, and haven’t done my usual second view yet - so I’m reserving full opinion (“so why comment”, would be a fair argument 🤨).

But, what I will say is that I loved the production, esp the split screens. And the quality of the actors 👏🏻. I know they like the half hour format, but this could easily have been a full movie.

Name99 · 19/05/2022 11:53

Loved this week's episode, very clever production

Bought myself a garden Hare this week too.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/05/2022 19:03

This week was better , very much Ah I see the twist but nope , it's gone in the opposite direction.
Best just to go along with it and wait for the finale .
Deffo a re watchable one .

Though the welcome addition of Jason Isaacs and Daniel Mays almost made up for the lack of Steve Pemberton in this one !

RainbowZebraWarrior · 19/05/2022 20:36

Daniel Mays and Jason Isaac were a delight to see (but then, Inside No 9 have been pulling in some big names for a long time now) I feel that Mays has been typecast for a long time now. Even though everything he's been in has been brilliant.

This week's felt like a parody to me, though. I'd actually rather go back to watching League of Gentlemen. Apart from the occasional knock out one liners, surely they are going to run out of ideas. As Genius as Pemberton and Shearsmith are.
