The reference to a Sister George Michael made me laugh. Went to a convent school at only now realising that it was odd that the nuns look male names - we had a Sister Kevin!!

blackberriesaretheonlyfruit · 16/04/2022 13:27

The Dennis line they asked me less questions during internment had us in stitches as we know a man who said that frequently. Only thing a bit overdone was the arrest scene imo. As for Seamus he's my new favourite.

Floralnomad · 16/04/2022 13:30

Season 2 had a couple of the best episodes , the one with the hex on the aunty and the Take that concert - we always call them This and That now .

FelicityGreen · 16/04/2022 15:42

Loved it. My DD 15 howled with laughter. Great stuff.

LoisGriffinskitchen · 16/04/2022 15:49

Sod Liam Neeson....Seamus the cat was the real star. I was howling at his face at then being forced to wear a collar with a bell on it as "the body count" had got too high Grin

@Kite22 - ".....they look ridiculously old now to be paying teenagers, they're all between 28 and 35 !"

Ryan Tubridy, host on The Late Late Show on RTE 1 - very famous tv chat show in Ireland, had the temerity to ask Jamie Lee O' Donnell ( Michelle ) her age , probably because of views like Kite's.
Jamie Lee was not best pleased apparently Smile

SirChenjins · 16/04/2022 17:46

A quick Google will tell you she’s 30. Does it matter? She plays the character brilliantly.

AnnesBrokenSlate · 16/04/2022 17:46

I thought her response was quite good. He said it might be a rude question and she didn't have to answer so she said she was over 100 and then despite him saying she didn't have to answer it, he asked again. That's when she said she felt it was misogynistic and that women are asked it all the time and men aren't.

Ulysses · 16/04/2022 18:13

Michelle steals every scene she is in. If this is the last series I wonder if they'll finish with an epilogue with what they are up to in the present day.

SirChenjins · 16/04/2022 18:18

She’s right @AnnesBrokenSlate - and good for her for calling him out on it.

I would love that!

@EarringsandLipstick

I found Erin head-wrecking.

It was ... grand. But their characters seemed just a bit jaded & stereotypical, even the lovely & wonderful Sr Michael.

The Liam Neeson scenes were v dull.

I thought Neeson's bafflement when dealing with Colm was brilliant.
Maltester71 · 18/04/2022 02:06

Loved orla licking the window and James saying ‘shiiiiiiit!’

I thought she was being a complete gobshite. I'm definitely not a fan of Tubridy but her use of the word misogynistic was over the top. I think if Dylan Llewellyn was sitting there, he would have asked the same question.

OverByYer · 18/04/2022 12:46

I loved it. They portray the high drama of teenage years so well.

Uncle Colm …

I have been worrying. I’m not sure my conversational skills differ greatly from his - particularly given the isolation of the past couple of years.

I just read that in his voice…

My Pumpkin liked Seamus best too,

He doesn't murder rabbits (or anything else) though Smile

Can't stand Tubridy but I thought she was OTT and he could easily have asked the actor who plays James the same thing.

SirChenjins · 18/04/2022 16:57

Yeah, course he would have…because men in the public eye always get asked the same nonsensical questions that women do.

oliviastwisted · 18/04/2022 17:14

I agree Ryan Turbridy pushed his luck with the question but in this case if they are say 30 somethings playing teenagers (and any bit of research could have given him the answer) and then he could have spoken about the experience of reliving your teenage years rather than asking her age which was at best uncouth and at worst yes misogynistic. I’m with Jamie Lee on this.

irishfeminist · 18/04/2022 17:20

It was a bit rude, true. He could have asked her about playing a teenager when she isn't one anymore and if she could bring something to the part from her own experience of the teenage years. But I just don't get the misogyny thing in this instance, and usually I would be all over it.

SirChenjins · 18/04/2022 17:29

Because men just aren’t asked questions about their age (or their clothes, or their appearance, or how they juggle family life and so on) in the same way women are. If he’d been interviewing tge man who plays James my money is on him asking how he draws on his teenage years for inspiration rather than his age (which he could have found in about 5 seconds on Google)
