Absolutely loved and Kevin McAleer was hilarious.

Rememberitwell · 13/04/2022 21:02

I loved it as much as the other series.

Floralnomad · 14/04/2022 01:08

We thought it was very disappointing overall , hope the rest of the series is better .

lugeforlife · 14/04/2022 07:12

I loved that Orla got the same GCSEs as Erin. Even though she's abnormal.

Loved Colm and Diego, loved the enablers bit. Quite liked Gerry and Joe looking shifty burying the rabbit. Always love Michelle and enjoyed the cameo.

I know you don't watch it for the storyline but I did find that lazy - it reminded me of the Provo in the car boot but nowhere near as funny. I also (and I hate to say it) didn't like Sister Micheal. She's cynical and world weary but that exam thing was spiteful.

It did feel a bit tired but hopefully it will improve. I do love it regardless!

lugeforlife · 14/04/2022 07:14

Oh and I loved that they'd been to convent school so would be fine in prison.

Mydogisagentleman · 14/04/2022 08:24

I really wanted to enjoy it, but didn’t.
Hope it picks up a bit

Auntieobem · 14/04/2022 08:29

I think the actors have been told that they have very expressive faces, and so have played up to it. Really annoying to watch the continuous gurning.

Me too!

@Taytocrisps

I loved the RUC constable counting the Jewish officer as a Catholic. And the video they were making at the start of the episode - it was so typically teenage angsty. And the Da giving out to the girls for renting a filthy DVD when it was actually the Ma and aunt. They packed a lot into one short episode. My favourite bit was the story about Diego.
I doubt it would have been a dvd! Video!
AnnesBrokenSlate · 14/04/2022 19:24

I loved the Liam Neeson cameo. And the ma enablers. And the uncle. And Liam Neeson saying 'right, love' when the boy said he was a boy Grin

I did think Erin and Claire might have toned down the ott facial expressions for the final season. They act as though they're teens in a sketch show (eg Kevin & Perry from Harry Enfield) whilst the others act as though they're in a sitcom. But there's always been that imbalance in their styles.

The soundtrack was fab as always. It wasn't one of the absolute best episodes but it was fun.

Agree.

Erin and Claire's facial expressions were WAY over the top. It was cringeworthy viewing, when Claire was saying they have helped the school to be robbed.

Also, they also look far too old to be GSCE students.

I quite enjoyed the first two seasons, but I'm not sure about this one yet. Hopefully it improves.

PlasticineMeg · 14/04/2022 20:11

It’s been 3 years since season 2, they were all in their 20’s and 30’s back then anyway, surely no one expects then to look like actuall teenagers?! Can nobody suspend their belief system for 30 minutes?

At least it isn’t like American teen shows/movies where we are meant to believe a buff Channing Tatum is 16 Grin

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 15/04/2022 22:18

I was reading a Maeve Binchey ……….

DGRossetti · 16/04/2022 08:43

It's on our weekend watchlist, but it's not everyones cup of tea it seems

I thought it was fantastic, really looking forward to the rest of the series!

TottersBlankly · 16/04/2022 08:55

After disliking S1, Ep1 years ago, I binge watched the entire thing over a couple of days this week. The S3 opener was comparatively weak, but at least one reviewer who’s seen more said it does get better further on.

I so, so badly want Sister Michael as my best friend …

Lol!!!

Viviennemary · 16/04/2022 11:05

I watched a bit of this new episode. It was dire. Really silly but not funny at all. Dont know if I'll bother watching again. First series was very good.

trancepants · 16/04/2022 12:12

I agree with a lot of the criticisms but the thing that really tipped me over was the music. I don't remember it being quite so overused in the earlier series. I mean I was a 90s teen, a similar age to the girls and I like hearing the music but it's so constant, so many 90s tunes just shoved in it's like they are substituting hardcore nostalgia for script and expecting to coast on it.

Kite22 · 16/04/2022 12:23

I loved season 1. I think they were already stretching it a bit thinly in series 2 and thought the ending was perfect with the Bill Clinton/ceasefire episode. I was really surprised there was a series 3 and I agree with a pp, they look ridiculously old now to be playing teenagers, they're all between 28 and 35!

I agree with this.

However, for those disappointed, it is the same with any comedy series, you never get every episode 100% hilarious. Whenever you are really looking forward to a show it seems a bit of a let down as you build it up too much. They packed enough funny lines and references into this one episode, for them to be much quoted later.
I'm definitely continuing watching.

MadeForThis · 16/04/2022 12:28

Loved the Liam Neeson cameo!

Exactly.

I love this show but there’s definitely weaker episodes - the one with the teacher who copies Dead Poets’ Society has, IMO, crap. But I still love the series as a whole!

The episode earlier in the week was definitely slow until Liam Neeson came along then Uncle Colm shows up to bore everybody - stroke of genius Grin

TottersBlankly · 16/04/2022 12:53

Uncle Colm …

I have been worrying. I’m not sure my conversational skills differ greatly from his - particularly given the isolation of the past couple of years.

PlasticineMeg · 16/04/2022 12:54

@TottersBlankly same!! And I actually find it interesting what he says Grin but I think it’s the monotone voice and expressionless face
