NI Tayto (cheese and onion obvs) are the best! I still remember reading the wee cartoon on the back of the packs - “set deep in Ulster’s countryside is Tayto castle where Tayto crisps are made…”

On English ignorance of the troubles - most people I’ve talked about it with over here (in London) have no idea that loyalist paramilitaries existed. They thought that the troubles were the British army (goodies) vs the IRA (baddies). Seriously.

That's before we even get into the fact the Omagh bombing was allowed to go ahead by British so called intelligence.
It's the hand on the shoulder from grandad to son-in-law at the end of series one that gets me every single time.

Yes @KarenLovesRosario i rewatched that scene the other day and was in pieces. Like most people in NI I will never forget where I was when we heard that news.

Yes, I was also a big Cranberries fan too, so the whole Dolores thing just adds to the emotion of the closing scene.
On a more cheerful note Derry Girls I think also has one of the funniest openings ever for the very first episode of anything. Father Ted's first whole episode was fantastic, but as an opening introduction, the first few minutes of Derry Girls is absolutely brilliant.

I don't know how long she's been acting but regardless she just walks it in every scene.
Absolutely love her Derry accent and T.F it wasn't dumbed down.

I love Michelle.

The first episode I think is my favourite, it's so funny. Dd and I can pretty much quote the whole episode now!!

Loved it all! Some moments of just perfect comedy like:
Michelle: What’s wrong with saying ‘fanny’? We all have one
James: I don’t
Michelle: You are one

This made me giggle

Jamie-Lee is the stand out best actress (she is/was in the prison drama too) here.

She's admitted (I've seen her interviews) that she's not like this in real life at all or wouldn't be.

I think she comes across as assertive as well as bolshy. Very sad to hear about her brother killing someone and that's why she fell out with Erin.

I normally mostly watch either comedies or serious documentaries but I think im going to start watching that prison drama tonight. Others have recommended. I have also seen she's been in some highly praised short films as well.

Just finished rewatching series 1. It’s so so amazing. The interplay of the stories lines and what was going on in Derry at the time was done superbly. Especially that last scene of the last episode - just had me in floods of tears. Sadly (abs it pains me to say this) it shows series 3 was really quite poor. The final was good with the GFA and was very powerful and emotional.

I’d have been a teen then in Scotland. I’m quite ashamed to say I don’t recall much of it. I have a poor memory so I’m sure I did read about at the time but I didn’t remember it was a referendum which is terrible. I see some others said similar though. What a decision and the poll scene was really well done.
