Loved it, much better than last week

PlasticineMeg · 19/04/2022 21:56

I was gutted they didn’t win ‘Starz’ in Their Eyes the performance was great Grin

SirChenjins · 19/04/2022 21:59

Sister Michael was fantastic as always

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 19/04/2022 22:01

Loved this weeks episode!

Ulysses · 19/04/2022 22:06

It was a well packed episode. I wonder if they have a star cameo each episode. I recognise Damien Muloney from a few other shows.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 19/04/2022 22:13

*Sister Michael was fantastic as always.(
She is hilarious I love her cruel dry humours. 🤣
Poor Mary getting all hot under the collar.

iamreally · 19/04/2022 22:22

Gerry's response whenMary revealed her dreams of university 😍😭😍

MyDcAreMarvel · 19/04/2022 22:22

Much better than last week, don’t know how they got that episode so wrong.

IcedPurple · 19/04/2022 22:25

This episode was better than last week but still not great.

EmeraldShamrock1 · 19/04/2022 22:41

Just finished watching it, what a show.

Mary and Jerry from Derry are very sweet. 😋 😊

Neonskytonight · 19/04/2022 22:46

I'm so happy - last week's episode was a bit meh and I had worries for this season- but that was total class!

I agree, perhaps they should have wrapped it up last season.

JacquelineCarlyle · 19/04/2022 23:33

I loved last week & this week - was fab!

TottersBlankly · 20/04/2022 12:57

Agree this week was so much better.

But I can’t get out of my head how much gentler (aside from the Troubles) this story is than either Sex Education or Euphoria. I keep comparing - particularly the school shows in each programme.

Somatronic · 20/04/2022 13:12

I enjoyed it, but got major Eurovision Father Ted episode vibes. Maybe it was meant to be a tribute?

What do you mean? (I haven't watched those.)

ForeverLooking · 20/04/2022 14:51

I've been so disappointed so far 😞
Loved the first two series but three has fallen flat for me. Second episode slightly better but it seems so over acted...the women who plays Claire in particular. It actually made me cringe in places. It just seems a bit....try hard?

VenusStarr · 20/04/2022 16:25

I re-watched the first 2 series after last week's episode as I didn't love it. But watching the earlier episodes, I found them really moving in parts and it reminded me why I love it. I then re-watched the first episode of series 3 and it was much better.

Last night's episode wasn't too good on first watch, but I'm going to try it again. It feels a bit rushed and I've noticed there is less about the 'troubles' - I'm guessing because they ended series 2 with the Bill Clinton visiting and it felt really powerful and emotive. I feel like the context is lacking a bit this series. Plus Claire and Erin seem much more 'acted' - the face Erin pulled last night when she said she wanted to be the first one in the family to go to university!

That gurning makes it almost unwatchable! It was always there but series 3 seems on another level with the faces.

That's been said in a lot of the papers today.

Google! There are sure to be some video fragments around.

They both share the Derry Girls subject matter - teen life at home and school - with differing themes and dramatic approaches. Sex Education - the title speaks for itself. The main character of Euphoria is a drug addict. They’re each spectacularly beautiful in terms of cinematography, and each much harder hitting in terms of social jeopardy.

Whereas in DG the characters’ personal lives are low stakes and entirely secure - except for, and set against the extreme jeopardy of their political world.

AnnesBrokenSlate · 20/04/2022 20:40

I love Sex Education. I also love Derry Girls. There's no reason to compare them. That's a bit like comparing The Sound of Music with Taxi Driver 😄

EmeraldShamrock1 · 20/04/2022 21:37

I watched the episode twice. Yes I'm sad and boring.

There was a lot happening in one show.
I found myself shuffling along to the spice girls music.

@SirChenjins has your trade man a 501's T-shirt too. 😆

TottersBlankly · 20/04/2022 21:50

My mind makes the comparison, AnnesBrokenSlate, without any prompting from me. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Kanaloa · 20/04/2022 22:06

They’re totally different genres though? Derry Girls is a sitcom and Euphoria is a drama. It’s like saying ‘why are Porridge and Prison Break so different? They’re both set in prisons!’
