CHLOE. BBC SUN&MON 9pm. Tv pace no spoilers

When it comes to the BBC's drama output, 2022 has gotten off to a very strong start – with an array of such as including The Tourist, The Responder and Four Lives all having impressed viewers so far.

And one of the next series to arrive on our screens is brand new thriller Chloe, which is billed by the BBC as a "mystery about obsession, deceit, identity, and grief".

The series tells the story of Bristol-based Becky Green, who takes on a new identity in a bid to uncover the mysterious death of a social media influencer whose seemingly perfect life she had been closely following.

The official plot synopsis provided by the BBC reads: "The thriller follows Becky Green who has been watching Chloe Fairbourne (Poppy Gilbert) via her perfect social media images for some time; Chloe’s charmed life, adoring husband and circle of high-achieving friends are always just a click away.

"Becky can’t resist watching a life that contrasts so starkly with her own; a life spent caring for her mother, who has early-onset dementia, in their small seaside flat on the outskirts of Bristol. When Chloe dies suddenly, Becky assumes a new identity and infiltrates the enviable lives of Chloe's closest friends to find out what happened to her."

I’ve just watched it all.
Really, really enjoyed it. Erin Doherty is brilliant.
Such a refreshing change to see a female in the title lead and her not be a cliche.

E3 This episode confused me even more !!!

Flashbacks

So mum remembers Chloe as a teenager.

So they did know each other ?

She didn't mean to call her that night. Was a fat fingered call

But as chloe kept her number in her phone she must have still thought of Becky

Sasha must have been her sister who died. Hence mum said it wasn't her

So Chloe was having an affair with her husbands best friend Richard

Hence why he tried to take his life

Do feel a bit sorry for Becky. Having to look after her mum alone

So sasha was a baby when died. Mouldy bath /ceiling

Wonder what happened

I wondered if Sasha drowned in the bath as a toddler, whilst Becky was meant to be keeping an eye on her, and that's why her mother is horrible to her.All those shots of a baby in a bath.

Yes, dead baby must be the o.g. Sasha?

Also the engagement ring the carer is 'looking after' for the mum will probably come back to haunt her?

I knew George Warleggan recognised Becky - about time someone from Chloe's circle of friends paid attention, rather than just pushing their own agendas on her (do my PR work/join my gym/Auntie Sasha/I'll rescue your mum.....)

What is unclear (to my feeble brain anyway) is which version of Becky's flashbacks is the truth. Does she have a few and then the final one is the actual one as the penny drops? So for e.g., her first thought was that Chloe was calling her for help. Now she realises she was actually calling her druggy lover. But how did she come to that conclusion? The footsie foreplay under the table for e.g. was told in her (Becky's) flashback. So was that the real flashback?

However, as unreliable narrators go she is v compelling.

(Also, DD - 19, so with young person's eyes and a good grasp of fast-paced social media type genres, said 'why is this programme so dark and dingy. It's really frustrating.' So if she cannot see, what hope for my my middle-aged dimpsy eyesight? Turn up the lights!)

Am really enjoying it. Seeing it on catch up and am at the end of episode 4. Best thing I have seen for ages.

So

All clothes are horrible she wears but apparently cost a lot

Is she not sending them back as £5k loan has been spent and obv not starting to be repaid as she has no job now

Elliott mum doesn't like Becky

Becky was mean about the nurse /carer

So the gang will soon reliese that sasha is Becky

Sounds like Chloe wasn't very nice to her

Or throwing wee at her

Confused. As always about the hotel

So Chloe was meeting someone at the hotel. Her affair. Was she about to go up to the room with liv hubby. Then she turned up so she did a runner ?

And the money ? What trouble was she in

I had to rewatch the bit where the CCTV shows Chloe arriving at the hotel. She hands the box and her faux fur shrug to the person at the counter. Later we see her leaving in a hurry without them.

I’m new to the thread - please could someone fill me in on the contraceptive injection thing? I have watched episodes 1-4 but one of them (episode 2?) was so poorly lit that I had real trouble following what was happening. Possibly I gave up on it 10 minutes early!

Who was the other man in the cctv who escorted Chloe forcibly from the coat check? Was it drippy artist husband (it's always the quiet ones....) or someone else? I couldn't see.

And so they did all know Becky Green as Chloe's friend from school. Which makes it more odd that no one recognises her - because they're all too self absorbed?

Elliot was slightly controlling at the end there when he told her off for running away and said 'don't do it again.' Steady on mate. They are all rather suffocating, Chloe's pals.

So as she dashed out Becky knew it might still be there

Contraceptive jab. The clinic rang chloes home phone after Becky stayed there /slept with Elliot

She answered it and was clinic saying she had missed her appointment

So Becky being nosey makes a new one. Not knowing what it was

Goes there and gets Chloe’s yearly contraceptive jab even tho Elliot thoight they were ttc

And yes as I sid previous of

Now we know we’re school friends why haven’t any of the gang recognised her

Hasn’t changed that much

Only Chloe and Becky were school friends. When Chloe moved away she made new friends. Have they shown the last episode yet? I thought they had.

As a teenager Becky did turn up to a house party for Chloe's birthday. The new friends wouldn't let her in and were laughing at her telling her to make her own friends. She was stood outside in the dark and was younger so probably didn't take much notice of what she looked like??

Also maybe Chloe's money is something to do with her bankrupt dad? Since he was mentioned and she had an appointment to see him in her diary. (If I were Becky I would bugger off with the money now and leave them all to it.)

This is riveting but I do find it quite hard to know which of her memories are true and which are fantasies.

I think maybe Elliott was a bit harsh with her at the end because she ripped up that postcard bookmark Chloe had written on and didn't get rid of it so he could have found the pieces.
