When it comes to the BBC's drama output, 2022 has gotten off to a very strong start – with an array of such as including The Tourist, The Responder and Four Lives all having impressed viewers so far.

And one of the next series to arrive on our screens is brand new thriller Chloe, which is billed by the BBC as a "mystery about obsession, deceit, identity, and grief".

The series tells the story of Bristol-based Becky Green, who takes on a new identity in a bid to uncover the mysterious death of a social media influencer whose seemingly perfect life she had been closely following.

The official plot synopsis provided by the BBC reads: "The thriller follows Becky Green who has been watching Chloe Fairbourne (Poppy Gilbert) via her perfect social media images for some time; Chloe’s charmed life, adoring husband and circle of high-achieving friends are always just a click away.

"Becky can’t resist watching a life that contrasts so starkly with her own; a life spent caring for her mother, who has early-onset dementia, in their small seaside flat on the outskirts of Bristol. When Chloe dies suddenly, Becky assumes a new identity and infiltrates the enviable lives of Chloe's closest friends to find out what happened to her."
@Blondeshavemorefun the flashbacks are of Becky and Chloe. They were obviously friends when they were young. I’m actually starting to think that they were more than friends.
Could they be sisters?

OrangeCinnamonCroissant · 09/02/2022 19:46

@JayAlfredPrufrock

It was very dark. I can barely see what’s going on.
I've just logged on to see if anyone else noticed this. It has infuriated me quite frankly. I can't concentrate on it at all.
Newpuppymummy · 09/02/2022 22:52

Hmm watched first two. Could Becky have been in foster care with Charlotte’s family due to abusive Mum and then they lost touch?

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/02/2022 14:18

Does make you wonder why she stalked her specifically

She must have known her

Rollergirl11 · 10/02/2022 14:22

@Blondeshavemorefun she does know her! They were childhood friends as the flashbacks show. Then Chloe’s family moved away.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/02/2022 14:28

Flashbacks confuse me @Rollergirl11 😂

Flashbacks and dreaming seem to be in everything lately, tedious and confusing.
I'd have loved if Jody Comer was Becky in this, although the acting is what keeps you watching

purpleme12 · 10/02/2022 23:38

She's such a psycho

And that black guy's (can't remember his name) weird as well having figured out she's duping everyone but seemingly ok with it

Ulysses · 11/02/2022 07:17

I'm really enjoying this though it is a stressful watch. The clothes while awful are very instagrammable aren't they, all volume and colour.

Erin Doherty is brilliant, very convincing.

Have to agree with how dark it is and I wish they'd add subtitles to the messages they show on screen. it's probably my bad eyesight but I can't make them out half the time.

NeedWineNow · 11/02/2022 08:35

I'm undecided about this at the moment, probably because I can't see where it's going. And all the tags on her clothes - is she shoplifting as well do we think?

We watched episode 2 last night but DH gave up halfway through as he says he likes none of the characters. I'll stick with it a bit longer.

By the by, the dress for the event at the spa was hideous I thought.

1910username · 11/02/2022 08:44

@NeedWineNow, I thought she kept the labels that she can return them and keep pretending she has money for nice clothes.

And when I say nice, I don’t mean the dress she wore at Elliot’s event.

By the way, I think Elliot looks like the blandest, most boring guy, don’t see the appeal at all. Chloe seems to have been the typical pretty, popular girl and I can’t see them together.

1910username · 11/02/2022 08:47

My theory about Sasha is that she died when she was little.

The scene after the mum mentioned her was the mum sitting on the floor next to the bathtub so maybe she drowned?

purpleme12 · 11/02/2022 09:00

I'm not convinced she drowned but yes I too think she had a sister called Sasha who died when she was little

Totally agree with Jodie Comer being perfect for this part.
Clawdy · 11/02/2022 16:56

Think I prefer Erin D in this role, get a bit sick of the same faces, Jodie C, Sheridan Smith, Maxine Peake......

kindlyensure · 11/02/2022 17:44

I agree. Erin is so good in this. That's why it's so watchable I think. I know Becky is a big fat liar but I'm rooting for her tbh.

purpleme12 · 11/02/2022 17:48

I'm not rooting for her

Orpheline · 11/02/2022 18:03

I haven't seen Jodie C in any tv series lately

Inkanta · 11/02/2022 18:49

Wow!! Fantastic acting from Erin Doherty (Becky) and Billy Howle (Elliott).

kindlyensure · 11/02/2022 18:59

Ha. But everyone else is so unlikeable. And she seems to be the only one who really had a connection with Chloe. So I'm on her side (for now! May all change at the Big Reveal).

Newpuppymummy · 12/02/2022 07:50

Anyone else more and more confused in each episode

Gardeningcreature · 12/02/2022 19:06

I’m really enjoying this. Makes a refreshing change from the constant cop shows.
I’m also liking the fact the lead character is a woman who isn’t for once a divorcee with 2 bickering children. She is a far more rounded character and it’s good to see women portrayed as not always nice.

Theimpossiblegirl · 12/02/2022 22:07

I thought Becky was somehow going to have Chloe's IVF so a contraceptive jab wasn't so bad. I agree that they're a very fake bunch.
Did she actually sleep with the husband or was she fantasising? I wasn't sure.
I am really enjoying it though, Erin D is very good.
I live in the area where it's filmed so that's an added bonus.

purpleme12 · 12/02/2022 22:12

I think she slept with him

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/02/2022 08:01

Def slept with him

Very weird she’s lying about ttc when had the jab a year ago sondef didn’t want kids and booked again for a year
