I saw the first series (which was good and guessed who killed his wife) but no need to watch it before this one as different stories

A teacher Sally was accused of having an affair and killing a student schoolboy 16yr Matty Taylor

Sally always said she was innocent but went to prison for 5yrs

Now she is out and trying to restart her life , but her husband Sam filed for divorce and has a new partner and getting married

Can only assume new evidence comes to light hence her freedom, but the real killer still needs to be found ........

I really liked the first series so hope this will be good

They are definitely hinting at a Blackpool connection. It would have been around 21 years ago (kid died aged 16, plus Sally’s 5 years in prison, could have been 1-2 years to come to court), so presumably before he got together with Sally. But I suspect it’s a red herring.

Clawdy · 19/05/2021 08:16

Yes, it could be a red herring, she may have told husband it was a Blackpool one night stand to divert attention from local guys.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/05/2021 08:56

I can’t see how their first date in Blackpool , he was having sex elsewhere

Don’t think they would be so cruel to find our he’s had two sons and both died

As a former teacher I'm pretty aghast at the way the profession is portrayed although I'm glued to the programme.

There is no way that I would do supply in a school where I had that history. Even after 5 years away there would still be students there who knew me from before.

That seems bonkers and has made me think she's not all she seems. I also don't like the creepy way she gave the Blackpool keyring to Sam. Uh oh- another Blackpool connection. She seems to be trying to get her claws back into him in a very obvious way.

I don't get the way the head is being spoken to by Karen. She's out of order - just being chair of governors doesn't mean you can hold the head accountable in that way.

I also wondered where Karen's daughter was when her mum was bonking on the stairs!

The red herrings are swimming all over and it's a bit obvious.

Anyway- I will watch!

PrincessScarlett · 19/05/2021 10:28

I'm torn between why would you go back to your previous school but also, she's been proved innocent and released so she wants her old life back which is also understandable. I can imagine I'd be pretty pissed off with all I had lost in her situation. But there is definitely something determined and stubborn about her wanting to stick around.

Can't stand Karen. I think it's being implied she might have something to do with the murder with the whole hatred of KK and implied stalking of Sam when he was with KK. Although I think it will just turn out that she's a nutty stalker and someone else is responsible. Same with Anna.

PrincessScarlett · 19/05/2021 10:29

And yes, totally agree that the teaching profession isn't being portrayed very well.

Also there are normally no interviews for a 'supply' teaching job. Typically it is casual and arranged through an agency. I think they just mean the new job Sally has taken is temporary. So they should say that.

Not always :)

I've done lots of supply and was offered it in one school because I was a parent of a DC there. I never went through an agency. So in the TV prog it does stack up that she is employed because of her previous connections.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/05/2021 14:24

I am Wondering why took 5yrs plus court time so maybe longer to find the pic

Surely she said I was at the park at x o clock
And then police ask if anyone was in the area who took videos or pics

Not take 5 yrs +

Stabbed with a bottle or slash neck ?

Karen is def a little nutty and makes you wonder if she is the killer

I would forgive you anything while having sex

So karen would forgive him meaning he would forgive her if found out she killed matty

Leila But would a job labelled 'supply' have a formal interview with the governors etc? DH does supply, he has been offered contracts 2 terms at a time, and no formal interviews required.

I suppose maybe each area is different.

You're right - no interview. BUT - maybe I'm wrong- I thought the meeting was between the Head and the governors to decide if it was okay for Sally to work there, given her past and all the concern about how it could appear to parents. I wasn't aware she herself was interviewed.
LeilaLiesLow · 19/05/2021 15:26

No, I don't think Karen is the killer.

She is possessive and scheming but I can't see a motive for her killing the boy unless it was to frame Sally and then pursue her husband.

Sylvan92 · 19/05/2021 16:46

Omg Karen is awful isn’t she? The actress is doing a good job playing a bitch but it’s a bit of a mismatch with the actor playing the exh. I just can’t buy into them as a couple.

LeilaLiesLow · 19/05/2021 17:15

I think like all Who Dunnits, the writer is playing with us and conjuring up as many red herrings as he can. Every single character could be the killer, so I guess he's succeeding so far in keeping us talking on it!

PrincessScarlett · 19/05/2021 17:20

There's definitely some back story re Sam and Karen getting together. They are not suited at all. And when he snapped at her last night he said something along the lines of "everything he's had to put up with" with regards to Karen and her daughter.

purpleme12 · 19/05/2021 19:17

Karen was just really unlikable from the first scene!

I'm really liking it

Elderflower14 · 19/05/2021 21:29

Have I missed something..
How can Beth have been 14 five years ago and still at school now?? 🙄 🙄

excelledyourself · 19/05/2021 21:47

I don't like Sally much.

Sylvan92 · 19/05/2021 21:57

@PrincessScarlett

When is it ever? There have been so many shows with implausible storylines that make it look like anyone can just walk in and get a job in a school. A teacher in KK’s position would never have got a job anywhere, rightly or wrongly.
PrincessScarlett · 19/05/2021 22:03

So, what has Aaron Holmes done for Sam???

Clawdy · 19/05/2021 22:33

They actually mentioned that Bethany was 19! She could be in sixth form at 18, but certainly not 19.

JemimaTab · 19/05/2021 22:59

I guess Bethany had to repeat a year or something? But IMO the timing still doesn’t work. Sally is supposed to have been in prison for 5 years, but as we know trials tend to take a long time to come to court - it could easily be a year or more. So they’re stretching credibility a bit here.

Sandra15 · 19/05/2021 23:00

@Clawdy

She could if she had to repeat a year, and if she mucked up because of all the issues that are emerging, that's feasible.
Italiangreyhound · 20/05/2021 00:38

I was at sixth form at 19. A year to do O levels and then two to do A levels.

I do hope her ex doesn't have anything to do with it.

RJnomore1 · 20/05/2021 00:56

Sally could have been remanded in custody prior to the trial.
