Loki (Disney+ starting June 11): MCU fans assemble!

Loki starts on Disney+ on June 11!

I know it’s a way away but I thought I’d start a thread for pre-amble pondering discussion seeing as Falcon and the Winter Soldier is over now and we no longer have a weekly MCU fix for a while!

Sometimes I’m wary of trailers, I don’t like to know too many details in advance, but this is good, it doesn’t spoil anything just nicely teases the theme and tone, and looks to be some good chemistry between Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson.

I really like how WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and now Loki are all so different in feel.

Oh and if you’re not a MCU addict want to catch up with the story so far, then this article lists which movies to watch beforehand (nine of them!!!) but really, you could just watch two - the first Thor and Avengers movies, and then jump to Loki from there and you’d be in the same place as our protagonist. It’d be really interesting to hear that perspective actually!

Loads of Easter eggs in it. Did anyone notice Ronan The Accuser's ship in the landscape? And a SHIELD helicarrier?

I was also never into Loki but like the poster above, TH and Sylvie have started to tip me towards Loki fandom. Marvel is, I think, at its best when it's a bit weird and this episode was pretty weird so I enjoyed it a lot.

I went to the cinema last night on Clubcard vouchers don't fancy paying £20 much myself.

My other favourite part: when Politician Loki at the head of the army of invaders queries the alligator, and Home Team Loki all yell in annoyed unison, "HE'S A LOKI!"

Makes note to watch ASAP.

Reeling from episode 5 - so good .

Loved all the Loki's and the fight scene with our Loki just tip toeing around them all . President Loki was amazing (and very hot ) I definitely squealed when he came on screen .

Richard E Grant was just perfect and loved the classic Loki character arc. You genuinely cared about him at the end .

So what is the castle and who is there ????? Is it kang , Or an ultimate boss Loki ?

Oh and miss minutes I have my eye on you with you too cheery voice and inability to find certain files - hmmm

Why would Renslayer not be as pissed off as everyone else and want to reveal the Big Bad, if she’s been lied to as well? Why would she be like “do it!” when Sylvie threatened to prune her, knowing she’d be sent to The Void? BECAUSE SHE BLOODY KNOWS because it’s Kang and she lurves him

What is Miss Minutes?? It is her that suggested the “void ship” and is actively stalling Sylvie to help Renslayer until the Minutemen get there.

Loved R.E.Grant Loki.

Loki has always been the bad guy. Before this series you'd (mostly) find him amusing but would always put him in the bad guy column (until the end of Ragnarok/beginning of Infinity War). But with this series you can't help but root for the "bad guys".
It's nice that he has found some form of a relationship with Sylvie, but I also shout at the TV about being in love with [a version of] himself.
I'm glad Mobius is still around, though I would have liked him to go with them past the monster.
Was impressed when R.E.G's classic Loki made Asgard to attract the monster.
Laughed when Lokigator bit the other Loki's hand off.
I spotted the Thanos name, and the frog Loki in a jar underground with lots of metal dinner plates?!?! Also spotted a destroyed Avengers Tower from NY.

I don't think the avengers tower said avengers or stark on it, I think it's from a different timeline.

I really don't mind Loki having feelings for Sylvie, I know they are versions of the same person, but for me it just works. They are different, they've had different lives and actually, maybe Loki's problem all along is that he doesn't love himself and maybe meeting Sylvie is teaching him to recognise the good bits of himself.

Loved all the versions of Loki..how is there only one more episode left?! This has been fun! WandaVision found sad/suspenseful..winter soilder..bit mehh. This however..

Sorry, just explain this all to me slowly and in small words.

So there's one sacred timeline so where are the variants from? How does an alligator Loki exist if we only have one timeline and that's a Man Loki. I think the use of 'timelines' is confusing me. If I think more 'parallel universe' maybe I understand it. The other Lokis are from these other 'universes' and the Time Keepers and merging them all into one?

Time stuff fries my brain!

Ah I loved ep5! Lokigator needs to be part of the MCU

On the subject of Easter eggs, did anyone spot the Polybius arcade machine in the Loki's lair? This is a bit of a super geek reference, I only know of Polybius (a gaming urban legend) because DP was watching a YouTube video recently which was trying to establish when/ where the rumours first started.

Can't wait for ep 6 but at the same time I don't think want it to be over.

Kneel - timeline splits (nexus events in MCU lingo) are what create parallel universes though right? But the multiverse isn’t so much a set of parallel universes as a spaghetti tangle of them. But…… are you up to date with all episodes? Stop reading if not and go and watch them all so far!!!

There are no timekeepers, they were fake, the timekeepers aren’t doing anything. At this point - I’m thinking - is there a sacred timeline? It’s propaganda to allow the TVA to do what it is doing - meddle with things, specifically meddle with different Lokis. Even Renslayer referred to the “dogma”. Whomever is living in that castle Aliath was guarding is behind it all.

Who is in the castle?

• Kang!!! (Nah)
• He Who Remains - the last TVA time agent who goes back and creates the TVA in an eternal time loop (in the comics)
• Maybe Mobius becomes He Who Remains?!? But that doesn’t make sense because he hates TVA/likes Loki now. Maybe it’s an alternate variant Mobius. Or maybe Renslayer becomes She Who Remains.
• Ultimate Loki - maybe played by REG again, the most ‘evolved’ Loki yet who has set up the entire sacred timeline/TVA caboodle to rid the multiverse of himself.

One thing about the introduction of alternate Loki variants in ep5 that all look so different from each other - it means that Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire could definitely become canonised MCU multiverse Spider-Man variants in No Way Home.

D’you know what, Mobius being He Who Remains, and both a product of and the creator of the TVA kinda makes sense, what with a Möbius strip being an impossible never ending one-sided loop - previously used in Endgame by Tony Stark to navigate time travel using the quantum realm.

Probably reading too much into that.

I think Loki’s advice to Sylvie about Lokigator (“best not to question it too much”) is probably sage at this point.
